Imagine leaving everything you have, then going on one of the longest and most hardest trip ever, to have a slight chance of being rich, this is what many people did in the gold rush. The gold rush was when about 300,000 people went out west to California to start a new life by finding gold. The gold rush went from 1848 to 1855. For those seven years it was a very important time in history. The gold rush was important because many people were involved in it and it shaped a part of our future. The gold rush was also very important because many people were involved, and many people risked their lives by trying to start a new one.
There were many people involved in the gold rush, about 300,000, but the most important that shaped the gold rush were, James W. Marshall, John sutter, and Matthew Turner. The most important man from the gold rush was James Marshall. Without James we probably would not have had the gold rush. Marshall was the first man to find gold in California. James found the gold in the American river, when working at a sawmill in California. James found the gold on January 24th 1848, which started the gold rush. James Marshall was born on October 8th 1810 and died at the age of 75 on August 10, 1885. James was born in Hopewell Township, New Jersey, and he died in Kelsey California.

Without John there would not have been a sawmill for James Marshall to work at. John was the owner of the sawmill that James worked at, and found the first gold. John was born in Germany on February 15th 1803. Then later on in his life he came over California, where he owned the mill. John died at the age 77 on June 18th 1880 in Washington

There are several significant events in Colorado history that have had an influential impact on the state we know today. The Colorado Gold Rush, in 1859, was the most significant event in Colorado History for several reasons: the rush attracted thousands of people to our state, initiated the mining of other resources, succored farming and ranching throughout the state, and boosted the economy of the towns here in Colorado; these benefits of the rush continue to play a role in our state still today.
John Charles Fremont was an American military officer, explorer and politician. He was born on January 21, 1813 in Savannah Georgia. He died on July 13, 1890. He was one of the four major generals. John was one of the most celebrated generals as well because he was such a known explorer. He attended and was educated in Charleston College. John led trips and soon became an explorer.
The gold rush was significant for it helped jumpstart Americas economy and eventually led up to the construction of a transcontinental railroad, something that had failed many times. California benefited greatly as migrants added to the incredible diversity of the workforce. Eventually all of this would lead up to the creation of California’s technology industry.

The first few bits of gold were found around January of 1848 near the region of Coloma. As a result the west had a sudden surge of migrants moving to California in the hopes of excavating gold and getting rich off of the gold. This event in American history became known as the California gold rush and it would have a great impact not only on the nation but on the world, however this job came with many great risks and challenges.

The event was driven mainly by the large quantities of gold reserves that were discovered in the soon to be US state of California. This event caused many Americans to move from the eastern states and middle states to California with the hopes of finding gold. In this paper, I will analyze the economy at the time the gold rush started and attempt to answer the question of why individuals found it necessary or advantageous to move out to California in pursuit of gold. I will also consider personal accounts and editorials written to gain a more personal narrative of the conditions people were experiencing as well as their mindsets in deciding whether to move to California for the gold or not.
