Firstly, Romeo's downfall was caused by Tybalt, and not his tragic flaw. Tybalt caused Romeo's downfall because he stabbed and killed Mercutio, which made Romeo stab him, which got him banished. After Benvolio explained what had happened to the Prince and the two families, the Prince says, “And for that offense/ Immediately we do exile him hence.” (3.1.193-197) This shows that Tybalt caused Romeo's downfall because Tybalt stabbing Mercutio, caused Romeo to avenge Mercutio's life by killing Tybalt, which in turn forced the Prince to exile him as punishment. Like a domino effect, Tybalt's killing caused Romeo's exile, which leads to Friar Lawrence's plan to sneak Juliet out of Verona, which caused Romeo to kill himself to forever lie with Juliet.
The Tragic Story of the death of two teen star crossed lovers. Romeo and Juliet are two teens in love who are put death by nothing but their fate and their long lasting family feud. Even though Romeo and Juliet committed suicide, their untimely deaths are ultimately caused by Fate and the feud.
In the play of “Romeo and Juliet”, by William Shakespeare, Tybalt is to blame for their deaths, because he killed Mercutio, Romeo's friend, leading to his banishment and Juliet misery/desperation causing her to fall into a deep sleep. Mercutio's death from Tybalt, only resulted from Tybalt provoking and insulting Romeo. As a friend Mercutio defended Romeo but in the end payed the price with his life. Shakespeare suggests that, “My very friend, hath got his mortal hurt In my behalf. My reputation stain'd With Tybalt’s slander”(Act 3, Scene 1,line 105).
One key person that led to Romeo and Juliet’s demise was Tybalt. One piece of textual evidence on Act 3 Scene 1 line 78 states, “I'll fight you.” "Oh, Romeo, Romeo, brave Mercutio is dead!". This quote is explaining that Tybalt had killed Mercutio and had Romeo outraged which will made Romeo kill him, which led to him getting banished from Verona and made him very depressed and desperate to see Juliet. Another piece of evidence on Act 3 Scene 1 Lines 126-127 Tybalt states, “Wretched boy, you hung out with him here, and you're going to go to heaven with him.” This quote explains
There are many people who had a hand in causing the unfortunate deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but perhaps it is not the fault of just one person, or even multiple people. The feud is primarily to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo and Juliet Essay Most teenagers today are responsible for making minor mistakes when it comes to getting in trouble. But not in Romeo's case. Romeo, from William Shakespeare's story Romeo and Juliet, made huge mistakes and therefore was responsible for many of the events that happened in the story. Romeo was responsible for the events in the story because he went to the party, was too emotional, and killed himself.
Tybalt's effect on Romeo is very direct and obvious. Tybalt is always suspicious of Romeo, that, coupled with his extreme dislike for the Montagues, drives him to desire to kill Romeo. This desire to kill Romeo leads to an altercation with Mercutio
When someone dies, every one wonders who is the killer but when someone takes their life, does anyone wonder, who was the cause? In the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Tybalt was hot-headed and short-tempered. Tybalt was the first cousin of Juliet. Tybalt was the character responsible for the deaths of the two lovers, Romeo and Juliet.
Tybalt should not have seeked revenge on Romeo and killed Mercutio. If Tybalt would have stopped seeking revenge on Romeo then he would not have killed Mercutio and they would still be alive. He was not justified in taking another life to please his own desires for revenge. “I have a reason to love you that lets me put aside the rage I should feel and excuse that insult”. (act 1 scene 3). This shows that Romeo was willing to forgive Tybalt and he should do the same. They should have worked out their differences through words and not actions. ”Before I could break up the fight, Tybalt was killed.”This shows because Tybalt killed Romeo's friend Mercutio, Tybalt ended up dying because of his desire for revenge. Tybalt and Romeo were not justified in taking a life.
Secondly, Romeos and Juliets downfall is a result of their own poor decisions, or character flaws because they caused fights. Many fights could have been avoided if they did the things that they were supposed to do. Because Tybalt killed Mercutio, Romeo was looking for him so that they can fight. Romeo says, “This shall determine that”(Shakespeare 59, line 133). Their fight will determine who dies.
Romeo wants revenge and fights with Tybalt. In this fight, Romeo kills Tybalt. When Romeo realizes the consequences of his actions, he says that he is “Fortune’s fool” (3.1.142). He believes that he has no control over the killings of Mercutio and Tybalt. However, these events are caused by his own rashness. Romeo chooses to fight with Tybalt and even starts the fight. Romeo fights to avenge his friend’s death. Romeo’s actions are rash because he does not consider the results of his actions. Romeo could resolve the conflict in some nonviolent way, but his mind is fixed on killing Tybalt. Romeo is exiled from Verona because he kills Tybalt. His rashness causes problems for his own family as well as for the Capulets and for the Prince. Romeo’s rashness in killing Tybalt leads to his killing himself.
In the play, Tybalt has a large influence on the death of Romeo and Juliet. He helps contribute to their deaths because he kills Mercutio and Romeo in turn kills Tybalt which causes Romeo to be banished from Verona. Then Juliet tells “Romeo is banished!” “There is not end no limit, measure, bound. In that word’s death: no words can that woe sound.” (Act III Scene II 128-130) If Romeo had taken the time to think before killing Tybalt he would not have killed him and therefore he would not be
Romeo is the reason for the death of tybalt because tybalt was trying to fight romeo and romeo was telling him that he loved him like a brother and that he couldn't hurt his family. After romeo told him that he wasn't going to fight him he started talking about mercutio. Mercutio wasn't having it and jumped up and started arguing with him and then somebody threw him a sword and they started fighting.
One way that Tybalt is responsible for his own death, is his impulsive actions. Tybalt angrily says “Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries That thou hast done me. Therefore turn and draw” (3.1.65-66). He thinks that Romeo has done him wrong, and causes Tybalt to want to fight him. Tybalt was quick to act, before thinking about the ending result. If he would have thought about his actions when he got angry, he might not have ever been put in this
Further on in Act 3 after Tybalt slays Mercutio, Romeo retaliates by killing Tybalt in another act of vengeance that once again originated from hatred. Later on in Act 3 Romeo proclaims, “Staying for thine to keep him company./Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him (3.1.125-126)”. Through this statement and his actions that follow Romeo kills Tybalt in a blinding rage because of Mercutio's death. Through this murder he ends up sealing his own fate by banishing himself and being separated from Juliet which eventually leads to him killing himself because he was unable to hear the news of her “fake” death. Together the actions of Tybalt and Romeo’s hate lead to the untimely death of Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, and Mercutio which further shows that the rageful action of the human heart are the most culpable for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Hate not only makes us do things that spell our own doom but also makes us attempt to fix things in order bring back peace, this is the case of Friar Lawrence.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet ended horribly and that’s why the play is called The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. The two star-struck lovers ended up dying from taking their own lives, but who’s fault was it really? There are multiple people in this play that made Romeo and Juliet want to die, but Tybalt had the most effect on them. Tybalt was a fighter and killed Mercutio, which created Romeo to long for revenge. The two fought and Romeo ended up on top, but was then banished from Verona and was forced to go to Mantua. Every thing went wrong from there after he was forcibly evicted from his home town, and the cause was Tybalt.
