After being ruled by one power and having no say in government or laws the people were happy with having the new freedoms. In document one this shows truly with the citizens taking down the statue of the king. As well as document one, document two which is a passage from the declaration of independence, shows that one person ruling over a nation is not the right government and that all men are created equal. Both of these documents show that British ruling is unfair for the citizens and there needed to be change where all have say in government. The government also brought change to slaves, women’s rights, and Indians. Document five shows the years that slavery was abolished in each state of the United States, which changed how America worked as a nation. Document seven and eight depict the change for women’s rights. In a letter Abigail Adams wants women to be remembered in the constitution as in giving them rights. Document eight shows that finally women got the rights they wanted in allowing them to vote by the government passing the 19th Amendment. For Indians in document nine the government protects the Indians not letting their land, freedom, or rights be taken away unless authorized by the government. Between slavery for African Americans and the injustices done to Indians, America was changed in a positive way for both of them after the war. Even though this did not come right away many slaves gained their freedom. In document five the abolition of slavery in each state is depicted showing what dates slavery was abolished. This shows that change did come for African Americans and they did get freedom they wanted. Document six shows this even further with a young African American who is Valedictorian of his class giving a speech. He is trying to tell the people that it is not fair that one group should have these injustices that society puts on them and that everyone should be equal. The boy is trying to show that change still needs to come only when everyone is equal that change will have come for everyone. As well as African Americans the war was revolutionary for what it did to the Indians. Document nine shows that Indian’s land, right, and liberty could not be taken away from them unless authorized by government. Even though this was not the best for them it shows that change could come for them and it did. On the other side in document ten shows what the Indians thought of what was happening. They felt that change has not come from them and that is unjust what the Americans have done to the Six Iroquois Nations. Overall even though
The American Revolutionary war began in-part because of economic struggles England faced after securing safety for it’s colonies during the Seven Years War. England needed to increase their taxation on the colonists after the war to pay off its war debts. Prior to these taxes, the colonies were wholly content while under the wing of the British Empire. Not only because the protection the British provided, but also because of their deep reverence for the Motherland. Colonists were angered by with Parliament due to their lack of acknowledgement towards colonists rights and opinions. Colonists stood together in a defiant motion towards liberation from England’s tyrannous acts of lawless duplicity. Before British government was able to fully
The American Revolution changed the political and social aspects of the United States. After the war ended many things changed in the states. From the political stand point women still had power but gained a few rights after the war and since the states where now free from British rule they could now create their own form of central government and elected a leader. On the social and economical side the belief of egalitarianism was widely being accepted, and mercantilism ended so the colonies were no longer forced from imported and export goods to England.
The author of the document is saying that the blacks should try and look on the bright side of things. Frederick Douglas is saying that although they have faced many hardships, that if any other race faced them they would not survive, they can fight through it because there is a better day coming for their race. Although Frederick Douglas was right, today there is still prejudice and racism in this world against African Americans. Entitled people and people who don’t understand make the perception that all blacks are dangerous and that they should not be treated equally. With the recent election, that prejudice is present more than ever.
The American Revolution fundamentally changed American considerably politically because Americans rely on democracy rather than monarchy, socially because the roles of certain social groups experienced a nuance change, and economically because the Americans freed themselves from having to send their raw materials to England and started to manufacture their own products.
The Revolutionary war was started in 1775 by the colonies rebelling against the British for the taxes and regulations they were forcing on them. The thirteen colonies decided they did not want to pay the taxes that the King was putting on them so they came together to fight the British with the help of a leader, George Washington. The war went on for eight years and many battles occurred in this war most of them Washington lost except for the important ones that helped us to finally win the war against the British. The constitution of the United States is a very important piece that came as a result of the Revolutionary war, and the document is still used in our system of government today; it outlines how our government should function and what rules they must follow and what freedoms we as Americans can have, which include freedom of speech. So the main significance of the Revolutionary war was that it paved the way to create a nation that is not governed by kings, queens, or even emperors but instead governed by a representative government for everyone so they can have a voice and be heard with the ability to have freedom of speech and representation in government.
How the Revolution Altered American Society The American revolutionary war resulted in a change of the structure of government in The United states of America and little else, affecting daily life of common people to a small extent. In the year 1770, the metaphorical teapot of revolution was at a boil. The upper crust of American society were experimenting with the idea of a new government oriented on enlightenment philosophy. By 1790, there was a new independent America, complete with an organized constitution and a president that white men with property voted to elect.
The American Revolution was the most important event to ever take place in this country. This war took place from 1765-1783 and involved Great Britain and the United States of America. Without this revolution, the colonies would have never gained independence from Great Britain and the United States could still be under their control. However, this revolution did not occur without a cause, early Americans fought for independence because of unfair treatment from England. There were many causes to the Revolution including high taxes, unfair laws, and even colonists being killed.
The Revolutionary War also has great significance to the United States because without the war, this nation would not be free from British rule. As time went on, more and more colonists under British rule came to North America and formed the 13 colonies. Under King George III, the people of these 13 colonies were taxed by legislature such as the Stamp Act and the Tea Act. Not only were these taxes very high,
The American Revolution was fought from 1775-1783, the war happened because of the tension that was building between Great Britain and their thirteen colonies. From 1607 to 1763, Britain gave the thirteen colonies benign and salutary neglect. Even though the colonists lived under the Mercantilist doctrine, they were still allowed to prosper while under Great Britain’s authority. The French and Indian war changed their relationship.Great Britain going to war with France caused them to accumulate a lot of debt. They thought heavily taxing the colonists would help them pay off their debt. The colonists were unaware of the taxing until Great Britain started taxing them on tea, which they drank daily. This caused their taxing plan to backfire. Great Britain 's relationship with the colonies developed into an armed conflict that caused the colonists to declare their independence in 1776. “The first shots heard around the world” of the Revolutionary War were supposedly heard at Lexington and Concord. France entered the American Revolution on the side of the colonists, the French were persuaded by Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin in 1778. France helped the Continental Army to get the British to surrender at Yorktown in 1781 causing the Americans to win their independence; the fighting didn’t officially end until 1783. Revolutionary War was started and fought over economic, social, and political issues.
Many know the American Revolution as a war of independence between Great Britain and the thirteen colonies in the United States. During this war, the thirteen colonies with the help of the French and others won their freedom from Great Britain. According to history the actual war started in 1775 and ended sometime in 1783. Although the war was fought in phases there were several factors that lead up to the war long before 1775 and a few immediately preceding 1775. The revolution was inevitable based on the long-term causes. The short-term causes are what solidified the war.
The American Revolution, which occurred approximately from 1765 to 1786, is also known as the American Revolutionary War and the U.S. War of Independence, for good reason. The conflict rose from rising tensions amid the people of Great Britain’s thirteen American colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. Clashes between Britain’s troops and colonial militiamen in Lexington and Concord in April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict, and by the following summer, the rebels were waging a full-scale war for their independence. The American Revolution had tremendous consequences, and was not simply a victory of arms on the battlefield, but also a feat of economic and political ideals, and vital societal changes. This huge period of history set into motion greater changes in American life and created a country, demonstrating just how this revolutionary age in time more than earned its name. This battle of independence waged by the American colonies against Britain influenced political ideas and revolutions around the globe, as a young, largely divided nation won its freedom from the greatest military force of its time.
The Revolutionary War brought about many changes politically. “It transformed a monarchial society, in which the colonists were subjects of the Crown, into a republic, in which they were citizens and participants in the political process” . The Declaration of Independence was drawn up because the colonists were weary of being mistreated by the British government. This document declared to the British that we wanted to set up a new form of government and be free from tyranny. The citizens putting their words into action, set up their own government. They wanted this government to be the opposite of the British monarchy. Due to this, the colonists drafted the Articles of Confederation, which gave much power to the
1763 marked the end of French and Indian war and caused a great celebration and pride in the American colonies. But, in next twelve years, the same pride was altered by at bitter and violent conflict with the mother country. The injustices of the mother country finally led the American colonists to declare independence and wage war against it. American colonies were justified for waging war and breaking away from Britain because they were defending themselves against a series of measures Parliament wished to impose on their communities without their consent.
The American Revolution set the ground work for a major change in the New England colonies. It was a time of significant governmental changes on political and social levels, and a growing ideology on the obedience of a women and the dissolution of slavery.
The American Revolution, from 1765 to 1783, was a great movement and major changing point for the colonists. The colonists were fed up with all the taxes and unnecessary mistreatment that had been placed on them. The colonists finally had revolted against the British and surprisingly had taken the victory. The colonists were considered underdogs against the very powerful Britain and with much devotion and heart, the colonists pulled out a victory. Taking the victory was a huge turning point because now the colonists were free from British power and were able to form a nation of their own. The wealthy had lots of power and it affected the society a lot. America had created a new government and society, but it led to many problems and protests.
