Martin Luther King is a worldwide known man. He played a key role in the civil rights movement. Many people know who he is, but they do not know much about his early life, education, awards/recognition, and his impact on the civil war. It’s easy to know a name but to really know the person ,you have to know the story that goes along with them. MLK played a huge role in the civil rights movement. He grew up in church and was close with his family starting at an early age. MLK was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January fifteenth in nineteen-twenty nine. HIs mother and father's names were Alberta Williams and Michael luther king, however MLK and his dad's names were not those until 1964 in honor of the 16th century German church. He lived at 501 Auburn Avenue his childhood, which was down the road from Ebenezer Baptist Church that his grandfather was a pastor at from 1894 to 1931. …show more content…

From 1964 to 1977 he received the “Nobel Peace Prize”,the “Times Person of the year’,the “Spingarn Medal”, the “Margaret Sanger Awards”,the “Grammy Award for Best Word Spoken Album”, the”Anisfield-Wolf Book Award”,the “Jawaharlal Nehru Award”, and the “Presidential medal of freedom”. In just 13 years he collected eighteen awards. On top of those awards he collected two more. He was given the “Congressional Gold medal” in 2004. He also received the “Grammy Hall of Fame” award in 2012.
