Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. King attended Booker T. Washington High School and became a part of the school’s debate team. He graduated from Morehouse College with B.A. sociology degree. Later on, King received his Ph.D. degree at Boston University for systematic theology. Birmingham campaign was to end segregation in public facilities and racial discrimination in employment. During the protests the protesters were hosed down with pressured water jets and police dogs. This was broadcasted on national television news which really shocked many white Americans. Earlier in the campaign King was arrested during his jail time he wrote a letter called “Letter from Birmingham Jail” which explains the movement.
