“Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people” (“Nazi Propaganda” 1), said Adolf Hitler as he explained his view of propaganda in his book, Mein Kampf. Adolf Hitler was one of the main people in history known for his use of propaganda, and by explaining his view about how it “forces a doctrine” over people proves that propaganda was a forceful tactic during WWII (“Nazi Propaganda” 1). Even though propaganda is what got people on board for the war and it showed the good outcomes the war could bring, propaganda is a poor tactic and shouldn’t have been used because it persuaded the world by using lies and false statements that didn’t tell the whole truth about what was happening during this time. After World War I, Germany was is great debt and in great need for a political change in its government. Adolf Hitler hired a man named Joseph Goebbels to create posters and media by using the “art of persuasion” to ensure his message over the world (“Propaganda in Nazi Germany” 7). Hitler and Goebbels goal in the propaganda was to “Nazify” the German culture (“How did the Nazis” 5). However, the media that the Nazis presented didn’t state all the negative outcomes of their choices, instead the propaganda only praised the Nazis and the things that they were doing. One film that the Nazis created was of the Theresienstadt ghetto-camp. The Nazis filmed this camp after it went under a “beautification program” that showed how the camp was helpful and habitable for “Jewish residents” (“Nazi Propaganda” 4). However, this film was deceitful to the people over the world because after the making of the film the Jews at the ghetto-camp were then sent off to Auschwitz, a concentration camp, where they were all killed. The Nazis truly did not care about the Jews or what they were doing, the only thing the Nazis cared about was “maintaining a deception” over the world and gaining support for their party (“Nazi Propaganda” 4). The Nazis began to use propaganda to “mislead” other governments, such as Europe, by making it look like the German government was making “fair demands for annexations” (“Nazi Propaganda” 3). These false actions that the Nazis made then led to even more conflict to people around the world because once a government begins to fall the people begin to have more problems. The Nazi propaganda also affected the Jews life by hiding what the Nazis were really doing to the Jews in the camps they had set up. The Jews were forced to move away from their homes and loved ones by the Nazis, and the world had no clue that the Jews were being treated so badly and even killed because the propaganda provided “false information” to the people (“World War II Propaganda”). Not only did the propaganda effect Jews, but it also affected ordinary people in their daily lives because they were limited to knowledge about the rest of the world because the Nazis restricted their accessibility to books, radio, media, and
