Advances in the technological area drove Europeans to be able to develop navigation instruments, ships, and guns. Those new implements determined the beginning of the exploration and colonization period.
Africans used to have a well-established trade system, however, the arrival of the Europeans altered such system. Slaves from West Africa were sold around Europe and soon brought to America.
Portugal was not the only country exploring; other European nations were trying to find alternative routes to trade with Asia. The outcome was the finding of the "New World," which in fact, was new just for them. North and South America had numerous groups of people with advanced

I do not want to pick a side and say that it was an entirely positive or negative factor, there are not only blacks or whites in that period; there were grays because positive and negative events occurred with the arrival of the Europeans. For example, if we talk about trade, my appreciation is that colonization had a positive impact. Europe and America exchanged products and animals that they were not using before improving people lifestyles. However, if we talk about culture, European colonialism brought unmeasurable loss. Europeans dismissed the Native's culture and imposed them their own beliefs trying to convert them to the Catholic religion, in their path, they killed and destroyed. Despite that, it was because of the reduction of Native Americans population, caused by imported diseases, that Europeans were able to establish on the
As a result, the diseases that were transferred from Europe decreased a large amount of native Americans’ populations..
In the 1500s, the Conquistadors came to the new world from Europe. After the Conquistadors came and conquered the new world many Native Americans fell ill with the diseases brought from Europe. After the Europeans entered the new world an estimated 15 to 20 million Native Americans died (doc 5). A majority of these deaths were due to the introduction of smallpox from Europe to the new world (doc 5). This is because the majority of the Native American population did not have the immunity to these diseases as the
The problem of epidemics like smallpox, measles, and other European, Asian, and African diseases negatively affected the abilities of Native Americans to resist the invasions by Europeans. These sicknesses made native peoples too weak to resist. This pattern was no different in North, South, and Central America. As Europeans entered the lands, so did the diseases and they spread, causing the natives to become weak enough for the Europeans to easily invade.
They had all this land and nobody to care for it. They need cheap labor so they developed indentured servitude, travel from Europe to America was very expensive not everyone could afford it. In exchange for their labor they were granted travel, room, board and in some cases promise of land. Most indentured servitude lasted 4-7 years. Popularity of black slaves grew, creating an expanding trade in slavery. The expansion of black slaves resulted in lowering the price of slaves, therefore replacing white indentures with black slaves. The slaves were servants for life, instead of 4-7 years like the indentured servants. Slaves were treated like property. They also because the darker color of their skin, it was harder for them to

The Native Americans also did not favor the Europeans because the European Settlers were bringing diseases along with them. “One important cause of Native American depopulation during European contact was epidemic disease. The sixteenth through nineteenth centuries saw many different diseases strike Native American populations with considerable frequency.
The impact of the the colonies on other cultures in America was huge for the native Americans. They were forced out of their land and homes by the colonists. They were also forced into slavery. This happened to many, but some formed good ties with the colonists. According to White (2012), “They wanted tools, weapons, and other goods that Europeans could provide.” This means that they had made strong connections and were willing to fight for the colonists.
Culture wasn’t the only thing that the Europeans brought over to the Americas. Along with their customs and rules, came the diseases that the Native American’s have never been exposed to. The Europeans brought many communicable diseases such as small pox and measles which were transmitted to the Native Americans through trade goods or someone infected with them. This quickly annihilated most of the Native American population.
Before 1453, Europe was in a period of time often referred to as the Dark ages. Critics claim that they had little access to any kind of trade, wealth or ideas that traveled along the Silk Roads. Meaning that the Europeans economy was based largely off of agriculture and they lived very difficult lives in poverty. This was until daring and courageous men decided to pull Europe out of the Dark ages and into the Renaissance (A Golden Age). The many voyages of European explorers and conquistadors are what brought Europe into what would become known as The Age of Exploration. This connected Europe to trade and cultural ideas along the east. Although the Europeans and conquistadors did conquer the natives and spread the base of slavery, these men did bring new ideas, technology, science and culture that ultimately result in a huge impact on history.

When one queries the assessment of the European commercial activities and its impact in the Atlantic Islands and West Africa between the years 1415 and 1600, trickery, social violence, intrusion and the horrors of slavery comes to mind. In the early 1400’s ,the Europeans began to have control over the world by setting colonies in the Americas, along the coast of Africa, and parts of southeast Asia. This is referred to as the Age of Exploration . This Age was caused by advances in technology and it was motivated by the desire for glory, religion , and economic factors. The accomplishments of the European Age of Exploration were that ideas and goods were being exchanged, wealth allowed them better ships and navigation tools, and they had the chance to claim land and territories. These factors contributed in bringing a European Golden Age.

They also encountered the Americas as well, They took the same stance as the Spanish towards the Natives and were very cruel to them. Unlike the Spanish though, Portugal focused more on agriculture than on conquest. They soon had many Sugar-cane plantations set up all over Northern South America. The Portuguese needed slaves to work these plantation, but instead of using the natives, they used blacks from Africa. Eventually, the triangular route they took to capture slaves and bring them to the New World became known as the Middle Passage. Although having initial success, the Portuguese empire soon experienced conflicts with the Netherlands and dropped back in the exploration race.
