When a movie is based off a book, there will be a significant difference. The movies are different so that the can keep the audience's attention. They will typically contain more of what audiences want to see. They are for people who already read the book. This essay is comparing The Hound of the Baskervilles book and the BBC Hound of the Baskervilles Movie, and which is suitable for a wider variety of audiences. The Hound of the Baskervilles book and movie can be watched by a diverse set of audiences. As usual, the movie and the book are very different, but follow the same plot, and end up with the same results as the book. There are scenes in the movie that are not in the book, to entertain the audience. Some scenes are overdramatized, also for the entertainment of the audience. But some of these scenes are very intense, and it may scare the younger audience, and put nasty, disturbing pictures in people’s head. It may not be for the faint-hearted. The Hound of the Baskervilles movie contained graphic scenes that the book did not. The book can contain very descriptive detail that can be disturbing, in which in a few scenes, it did. It contained some really intense action as well, putting the audience on the edge of their seats. The movie had way more action scenes than the …show more content…
The book only contains words, which lets you decide and imagine the scene. The movie showed actual people, with semi-realistic blood, and animated effects. In the movie, they included fake blood on the characters playing dead, or seriously hurt. When one of the characters gets mauled by the hound, it contains loose body parts, which was disturbing. It was also more realistic than the book. Contrarily, The backdrops and setting were more realistic. But since it was more realistic, it was also more
Comparing the book to the movie you can clearly tell what certain things are different. For example, Sydelle Pulaski worked for Mr. Westing in the movie but only talked over the intercom. This not only caused a lot of drama but more depth to the plot. Also, Crow didn’t go to jail but they did talk about most of the consequences of her going to jail. This made a little bit more serious and emotional instead of just letting it go.
There are also the some other details the film was different
I like the book better than the movie. I like the book better because I could decide what a scene would look like. For example, in the book, it describes True Son. It says, “The boy wore a brand-new calico hunting shirt. It covered the boy’s upper parts and halfway down his leggings. His hair was black and his face and arms brown as an Indian, but you couldn’t mistake the English cast of his features.” I could make up in my mind how I wanted True Son to look. In the movie, I saw what was on the screen, and couldn’t make the scene look how I wanted it
When we saw the movie and the book and saw the movie, there were a couple of thing that they did not mention or did in the movie. In the movie they cut out some thing from the book. They did not really put everything they said in the book into the movie. They also did not really get some people personal feature. Here are something that were different from the movie, than what it said from the book.
One major difference between the text and the movie is the characters. One of the characters that seem to differ quite a bit between the movie and the book is Beowulf. Everyone think of him as the hero that killed the monsters they were terrified of and probably would never think of a “hero” as a liar. In the book it never says anything about him lying about killing Grendel’s mother as it shows in the movie; according to the text “struck it with all the strength he had left, caught her in the neck and cut it through, broke bones and all. Her body fell to the floor…”(521). Another character in Beowulf that differs is Grendel, in the movie Grendel seemed to be able to communicate with the other
First of all, the book has a better plot as it goes into a good amount of detail as the movie doesn't really have much detail “As I sat there in the silence, the fire grew larger, it cracked and popped. Firelight shadows began to shimmer and dance around the room.”
Finally there are lots of differences between the book and the movie. They also show that the movie was a lot weaker then then the book. I can see the movies aren't always better than the books. The books go more into detail than the movie. I enjoined the movie because it is more visual. The book was a little
Great characters are what make a movie or book spectacular and without good characters the story is bland. The book was jam packed with great characters which made the reader fascinated on who they were and what their backgrounds were. An example of this was when they even gave information about the school professor named Faber. On the other hand the movie did not incorporate major characters into the film including Faber and the mechanical hound. For example, instead of Faber being incorporated in the film, François truffo combined Clarisse and Faber into one person, yet Clarisse is a teenager who loves to think unlike Faber a college professor. The reason for this is because of the movies actors. Since the movie is not very popular they had a stricter budget so they could not pay for as many actors as a bigger film. In the character category the novel
There are many publishers in the world who decide to take their work and turn it into films. Although many viewers may think the film should be exactly like the book, they are not. In both novel and book there are going to be slight differences. The moral of both novel and book is the same; however, their narrators are different. The character may act a certain way as one are reading, then act another way as one watch the film.
Both the novel and the film share indistinguishable qualities. For example,They both have the same places as the novel. There were the DX,Tasty Freeze, the lot,the church, and the characters houses.Since they had the same places the same things happened. They have the same places so,they have the same scenes. However, they seem identical, they have a lot of differences.
The 3 major differences that were seen are the shattering of the conch, the pilot’s presence, and Ralph’s attitude towards Piggy. Due to these major differences the novel left a greater impact on its readers than the movie on its viewers. Seeing the movie and as well reading the book, personally the book was a better. The book has a very different approach of that showed these 3 major differences to their full extent. Out of the two though, I would choose the book as more pleasant and
Despite having many differences the film remains faithful in capturing the novel and putting on film. While one may not get everything from the movie as from the book, the majority of it is there. So for die hard fans of the book there is no need for disappointment. All the main parts of the book are there, the characters, the plot, the setting
The “Hound of the Baskervilles” movie also interprets the characters and the plot of the book differently, yet still effectively. Although the film adaptation has essentially the same plot, the original Hound of the Baskervilles uses different methods to attract a slightly different audience, and to fit the format better. Movie critic Pamela Troy informs readers that the Hound Of The Baskervilles film is a “fascinating take on the story that may outrage some Holmes fans, but serves as an admirably sinister beginning to Halloween week” (CultureVulture.com). Characters and plotlines are changed in order for the adaptation to work as a film, and this leads to a different tone and
The Hound of the Baskervilles written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the movie The Hound of the Baskervilles directed by Jeremy Bret are two works of art that are mainly telling the same story. There are, however, many differences about the book and the movie. Those differences don’t affect the outcome of the story, but they give less impact to the story. Along with the differences there are many similarities, and those similarities give you confidence that it is the same story.
The purpose of this report is to compare and contrast two movies made about Hamlet. I will present and discuss different aspects of the version directed by Kenneth Branagh to that of Franco Zefirelli. During this paper you will be presented with my opinions in reference to determining which version of Hamlet best reflects the original text by Shakespeare. I will end this paper with my belief and explanation of which movie is true to the original play.
