The Government should help the homeless
More than 500,000 people in America are experiencing homelessness. It is a huge problem that is affecting millions of people right now. The government’s job is to protect people from conflict and to provide law and order. The government should help out the homeless. One reason why the government should help the homeless is because of how the homeless are at risk. There are many causes to homelessness but the most common causes of homelessness from tragic life experiences like losing a job, domestic violence, family disputes, poverty, or other things like depression, untreated mental illnesses, and many disabilities. Some effects of homelessness are illnesses which include tuberculosis, respiratory problems,

The government job is to keep the continent in order and protect us, yet still homelessness still exists here in America. Of course, there are places called Homeless Shelters. Many people are saying that they will help solve the problem, but they don’t actually solve it completely. According to Huffpost, there is a long process to get into a homeless shelter. And after you get in, you might only have 90 days to stay there. We don’t have enough safe and trustable homeless shelters. So for someone homeless people, they might have to exclude that from their list of ways to survive. The government’s job is to protect people from conflict and to provide law and order. But there are some people that disagree. Not all of the homeless people might not be homeless. Some try to get more money by sitting at the side of the road holding up a sign saying they need some support. Probably some passerby will take pity on them and give him a few dollars, when they are giving a person doesn’t need it at all. Others believe if we keep giving the homeless money, they won’t try hard to get back on their feet and rely on others instead of finding themselves a job. And when they get this money from begging on the streets they might use it to buy things they never needed like drugs and alcohol. While it may be easy to believe that the homeless are just lazy people who don’t even try to get themselves jobs, this is still incorrect. We can’t just assume that every homeless person doesn’t try to support themselves. So yes, some of them don’t want to try and let people come to them to get a couple of dollars but that is not the case for all of the homeless. It’s not fair to assume that every person who is homeless is lazy and doesn’t want to get a job for themselves. Some in fact, tried multiple times to find a job, but fail because of cruel and strict bosses or other reasons. Some people argue that isn’t the government’s problem to take care of the homeless because they brought it upon themselves. That it’s their fault for putting themselves in the position they are in because they probably were
Homelessness in America has gone un-noticed for so long. For America to be the “land of opportunity” there is a large amount of people who have been deprived of what they were promised. There is so much this country offers, but at the same time there are so many qualifications. Not everyone can meet these standards that are sometimes required. This results in homelessness and poverty. Homelessness has become a hidden aspect in life. The government wants people to continue seeing America’s beauty. In order for that to be successful they would have to get rid of the flaws.
“On any given night, there are approximately 643,067 people experiencing homelessness in America.” Homelessness in america is becoming a severe crisis a crisis we need to find solutions to. There are not many sound solutions to homelessness unless the government wants to spend millions of taxpayer dollars. Some of the solutions to homelessness can be government housing for the homeless, increasing employment and Income, and creating a crisis response plan.
Though I personally have never experience homelessness, I know a few who have had to endure a life on the streets. Also as a Altanta citizen, the homeless population greatly effects me for Altanta houses approxemently 3,572 homeless citizens whom tend to loiter on just about every street corner. Some of the homeless population receive the shelter and resources they need to survive through shelters and tvolunteer workshops. Yet a majority of the population receive little to no real benefits that could assist them in getting off of the streets and into a stable home and job. What the homesless population needs are jobs, health care, and mental health care. Yet the average person and the average shelter assumes that, “if they are feed and they have some clothes on their back they’re fine. Anything else that thy need they will have to get on their own.”
I must say I agree with you. Homelessness is an epidemic in our country; and with the United States being one of the most advance nation in the world, it is unacceptable. What is even worse is that it seems as if our government is not doing anything to end homelessness. As you stated that they create shelters, but these shelters aren’t enough. People need a place where they can feel safe and secure and call home, and these shelters cannot offer this.
Many causes become the answers to homeless people. The most easy understanding of homelessness is they don not have houses. Homeless people live in the streets because they do not have a house, but every homeless person does not have a house since he was born is impossible. First, shortage of substance use is the major part for
Homelessness is an aspect of society, which most people chose not to acknowledge. With the increasing amount of issues the United States faces, homelessness tends to be forgotten when the time comes for the government to establish what issues they should assist. Due to the substantial amount of issues the government concerns itself with, homelessness does not receive the necessary attention required and is improperly handled. In today’s society poverty-stricken individuals or families is too much of a common occurrence to be treated as lightly as it is. Additional government intervention is necessary in order to supply the needed resources, which can prevent the further spread of homelessness. The United States government is obligated to protect its citizens and should care about the constant growth of homelessness. Through economic policies and community advertisements, the government can control the issue of individuals who are facing poverty.
In order to combat homelessness and restore the people of the united states to their fullest capabilities, the government has to take the initiative to provide more funding for the homeless. This includes providing shelters for the homeless, while also building jobs for the unemployed ,and raising awareness to all that homelessness is a problem that needs to be addressed.
Homelessness is a serious societal problem affecting our communities. Katel of Housing the Homeless says “about 1.5 million Americans use a shelter in a given year- and advocates for the homeless say that figure badly understates the problem.” Yet, society looks down at these people, not doing anything to help them. They are judged, criticized, and bombarded by false assumptions everywhere they go. I have heard people say “they are like that because they chose to” or “they are lazy and don't want to work.” This is not true in most cases. The reality is life can go wrong at any moment for anyone. For some people there is no one there to help them and their only option is living on the streets or a shelter.
There is no doubt that being homeless has always been a problem in America. It is a problem for everybody, no one ever wants to be deemed homeless. Recent studies reveal that being homeless has now turned into an epidemic in some cities across the country. The homeless population has increased this year for the first time since the Great Recession and I think it is utterly ridiculous when the top two prominent cities in the United States (New York City and Los Angeles) are among the top three homeless cities in the world. The increase has been so disturbing that some state governments decided to call for a state of emergency. The reason behind the homeless population increase is due to the West Coasts flourishing economy. Rent wages increased
Imagine waking up from a warm bed, taking a shower, getting dressed, either went to work, school, or both. These are all basic needs, basic needs that many people in the United States today do not have. Most people would agree that a day like this is fairly ordinary. Shelter, clothes, food, education, and family are all things that are usually taken for granted and things that every person deserves. Unfortunately, these things do not belong to everyone. Far too many people in this country have no homes. They own only the clothes that they wear. They do not know where their next meal will come from and they don't have family or friends to lean on for support. The government should supply resources for the homeless like free education/ job training,
Everywhere you turn in the United States people are sitting on the corners of streets asking for assistance or digging in trash cans for meals. The epidemic of homelessness in the United States has reached an all-time high since the 1990’s. Unfortunately, the adage of people chose to be homeless was not accounting for families that live paycheck to paycheck and lose their job and therefore their housing because it is unavoidable. Alternatively, many individuals that are homeless have some type of mental illness or substance abuse problem thus creating a barrier to maintaining housing. Many of these individuals are incapable to preserve stable employment and have limited support to get off the streets. However, there are several programs that the federal government fund to assist with combating the problem of homelessness in America.
The current social welfare issue that I chose to explore is homelessness within Canada. First, this essay will give a brief description of homelessness. Secondly, it will describe how homelessness relates to some concepts and theories that we learned in this course Introduction to Social Welfare, it will also look at what may have happened to people facing homelessness one hundred years ago, next we will explore a possible solution to this social issue and where this fits within the political ideologies. Finally, I will give a brief explanation on whether social media is an effective tool for bringing about awareness regarding social issues.
There are homeless people all over the streets nowadays. With the job marketing going the way it’s going the growth of the homeless is becoming larger. There are all ages of the homeless and most of them are trying to find a job. I believe that the government should help get the homeless off the streets, that way it would be better for everyone, no more begging for money on the corners the homeless could find a way for them to. The government could open shops, help provide work in the community for the homeless, and provide shelter at night.
Homelessness as an issue in today's society is largely ignored. To many, the problem of homelessness is invisible or barely noticed. When these people do see the homeless it is found in the form of beggars who need to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” or mentally ill people who “just can't help themselves”. In either case the central point remains; the homeless must be people who are incapable or unwilling to help themselves. After all, wouldn't they stop being homeless if they just tried? These sorts of rationalizations cover a more disturbing truth; that for many in today's society, the spectre of homelessness is more pressing of a problem than helping those who are already on the
I believe homeless people should be helped by giving them useful resources, encouraging them to get an education, and guiding them to opportunities they can reference to succeed on their own.
