I’m thinking to myself, on this very pointy rock, that there is a very good chance that my new glittery dress I purchased has just ripped. I keep smiling for the photo shoot before the annual dance, and will just ask a close friend to check if my dress is ruined. I’m standing next to my super cute homecoming date I don’t know how I got, as my mom is vigorously snapping more, and more photos. I am stimulated for the dance, and eager to see all of my other friends wearing their formal apparel. As my date, and I enter the dance I see my homegirl Lyewon. She is looking stunning as always, so I stumble in my high heels and shout out to her and tell her that she looks very pretty. I see some more of my beautiful friends and join them with their dates, and mine. A song by Drake started to play, so my group and I hit the dance floor to bust out some moves.
As the night progressed, we kept dancing and partying it up to celebrate the new school year coming up. Lights are flashing, and everyone is crammed in like sardines in the mall area at our school. The atmosphere is getting really chaotic and I start talking to a group of people surrounded in a circle. We all were getting along really well. One of my friends decided to throw a party afterwards, and I was invited. I love hanging out with all of my friends on a

An extrovert’s life can be a lot easier since America, is a nation that is filled with other extroverts. Bryan Walsh, the author of The Upside of Being An Introvert, says “ America- land of the loud, and home of the talkative. From classrooms built around group learning to open-plan offices” (42). This makes an extroverts life seem like a breeze since this is what we, as people are comfortable doing all day. I have no problem talking all day if I have to and to tell others all about what I know, and what I am comfortable with. I love talking, and collaborating with my friends and to join them at social
On, Thursday, Novemver 22nd, 2053, Peter (10) and Wendy (10) Hadley locked their parents George and Lydia Hadley in their Happylife Home crystal-walled, dimensional superreactionary nursery room powered through supersensitive colour film and mental tape film behind glass screens.
Arizona seventh-grader Olivia Vella choked up as she stood in front of her last week, delivering a powerful six-minute monologue about the reality of being a teenage girl today. The 13-year-old openly discussed the struggles young people face during those "awkward" middle school years. The peer pressure to look and act a certain way, the bullying ,all the challenges of transitioning into adulthood.
My stomach started speaking to me as I was passing a Burger King. As I approached the register, I recognized that the Cashier was my classmate Kimbre. “ You know we ran out of burgers right?”, she said. Then I replied, “No, you don't say. Does Taco Bell run out of Tacos or Pizza Hut, Pizza?” Kimbre was a babe, the way she chewed her bubblegum made me hot! I mustered up the courage to look her in the eyes and I told her that we should hook up for the dance. She just broke up with her boyfriend, he got mono from kissing her best friend, so she was available. I wiped the lonesome tear off her cheek with my finger.
At holiday time several community organizations collect toys and gifts for younger children usually up to age 12, but donations for teenagers are always low. This means many of the teens living below the poverty level will receive no gifts during the holiday season.
We burst out of the door, unveiling ourselves to the crowd outside. We felt like rock stars. Everyone had to get a few more pictures with other friends as they arrived and then we filed inside. The place was decorated from top to bottom, glittered stars hung from the ceiling, white Christmas lights twinkled all around, and glimmering gowns in every color made the entire venue sparkle. As a class, months earlier, we had chosen the theme, “I’ve had the time of my life”. The girls had pulled it from our favorite movie, “Dirty Dancing”, and I think the boys just went with it. We sat down for dinner where we were served our choice of meat, with rice or potatoes and a medley of veggies. Nobody ate much though, either because of nerves, vanity, or just plain desire to get to showing off our best moves, we wanted to boogie! After about an hour the tables were cleared off of the dance floor and it was time to the highly anticipated partying. The DJ played the hottest jams of 1999 and we danced the night away. Most of the girls were in their bare feet, unable to take the pain of high heels any longer as we busted our best moves.
A remote community in northern Australia has the highest – and most well known –population of transgender people in the country. Locals say as many as five per cent of the population consider themselves a Sistergirl - including children as young as six. Sistergirl or ‘Yimpininni' is the term used to describe transgender, homosexual or bisexual indigenous people, BuzFeed reports. There are roughly 2,500 people living in the Tiwi Islands, and the sistergirls say there are currently around 80 yimpininni.
That night I asked my sister when are we performing the dance, She told me that tomorrow which is Monday at Our School Ceremony. That night I can’t sleep, My heart is beating fast like theirs a 1000 horses running inside me, So many things come through my mind that night, I tried thinking about good things and finally i fall asleep. I woke up and the sun is still not up, Me and my sister went to the school early wearing our costumes, It’s a simple green shirt and a white teeny shorts that makes me uncomfortable because I don’t like wearing short clothes. One by one the students coming inside the school, My hands are trembling while looking at them.
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of today. It is defined as the voluntary act of ceasing a pregnancy. The very core of abortion is inhumane and dehumanizing, yet it has become quite popular in contemporary society. This topic has caused an uproar in society as individuals debate over the morality of having abortions. Abortion at any time during a pregnancy should be illegal.
However, over the past year I’ve started to appreciate my introverted personality. Through reading Quiet by Susan Cain (and the support of my extrovert husband), I’ve learned many other people have these same experiences growing up and share my fear of small talk.
I got pregnant when I was 15, and had my son when I was 16. Being a teen mom myself opened my eyes to many things. Being a teen mom is not fun. It is hard. It doesn’t just affect the teen mother’s life. It affects the family’s life as well. My family was so disappointed in me, but they helped me more than anyone. The people I thought were my friends don’t talk to me. Instead of hanging out with friends every weekend I get to take care of my baby. When a teen becomes a parent they have to grow up so fast. They aren’t just responsible for their own selves anymore. Most of the girls that get pregnant forget about their goals. They are no longer concerned with graduating high school or going to college. Most of the teen dads leave, or don’t want to grow up and take the responsibility of raising a child. Therefore the mother is left with the responsibly alone. The mom has to handle
Wrestling with the almost indescribable topic of war, Hemingway layers A Farewell to Arms with deeper meaning in order to allow for in depth interpretation of his characters and overall thematic message. Throughout the novel guns come to symbolize the direct control of violence and eventually reveal how Henry has changed as a character and the overall destruction that war brings.
Characterization is a vital component of a text. How does Shakespeare utilise character traits to demonstrate characters as either heroes or villains?
According to many psychologists and other social experts, there exist two major social behaviors that are widely adopted globally by a person as they mature into young adulthood: extraversion or introversion. Extroverts are expressive individuals who appear to be energized and enjoy seeking activities that involve socialization with others where as a reserved individual (introvert) prefers solitary pursuits where he or she often partakes in a favorite pastime. In her novel Introvert Power: Why Your Inner Life is Your Hidden Strength, Laurie Helgoe statistically explores the fact that more than one half of the American populace claims to be reticent and encourages those folks to embrace their natural selves (“Book Details” 1). It was New Year’s Eve, about fifty degrees outside, loud noise carried through the streets and echoed in the alley ways. There were parties on every block. That night, I had plans to go on a date with my crush from grammar school. So many things were going through my mind. What should I wear? How much make-up should I put on? How should I wear my hair? I was a nervous wreck. I was scared he was not going to like me, so I wanted to make sure my appearance was beautiful. He called later that night to cancel our date and said that he wanted to go to his
My major paper is going to be about my father. It is going to include all different types of things about him but it will probably be mostly about why i hate him so much. I chose this subject because it is something sensitive to me. Everyday it is a heart break to me because i do not fully understand why he does the things he does. It simply does not make sense how a father could be so terrible. I look around at everyone else who has a dad or at least grew up with a dad and it aggravates me because i never got the chance with that.
