Steven Knight is a 27 year old male who has a long history of parasomnia. Since the age of 13 Stevens parents had noticed he had begun both sleep walking and sleep talking. Mr. Knight was engaged to be married on April 26, 2014 to his 26 year old wife to be Kelly Love. The day unfortunately never arrived because the day before his wedding, he murdered his fiancé. Miss Love had spoken to Mr. Knights mother two weeks before the wedding, stating that she was noticing that his somnambulism and somniloquy were starting to occur more frequently. It is seen through a recording that Mr. Knight was walking around at 2:48 AM the night before his wedding. At around 3:15 AM, it is seen that Mr. Knight begins yelling, and throwing around items in their living room. Though the rooms do have recording devices, there is no audio equipment installed that could be provided as evidence. At 3:16 AM Miss Love is seen entering the living room running towards Mr. Knight, in attempts to calm him down. It is then seen that Mr. Knight begins yelling at Miss Love, and acting violently towards her. Miss Love is soon thrown on the floor, and drug into the bedroom where no cameras are present. The following morning at 7:23 AM, a phone call is received to 911 operators from a frantic Mr. Knight, stating that his fiancé had been murdered in the middle of the night. Police arrived on the scene to discover signs of struggle in the living room. Once entering the couples room, a bloody knife was discovered next to Miss Loves dead body. It was not until police went through Mr. Knights computer that they found emails between him and Miss Lee showing a romantic relationship that had started in approximately 2013. In emails sent to Mr. Knight months before the wedding, it was obvious that Miss. Lee was becoming nervous about their relationship. This is when it is believed that Mr. nights parasomnias began to worsen. Miss Lee had begun to express feelings of guilt to Mr. Knight about their relationship in the emails days before the wedding and wanted to come clean to Miss

He told her how he found out, and that he was angered by the fact that she sent yellow roses. He said it was like sunshine, but there was none. He then put his hands around her throat and started strangling her. Ray came up and hit Bud on the head with a flash light. He found out from the paint on Bud’s hand from the Gregg’s house. Amenhotep III reigned in ancient Egypt from roughly 1391 to 1353 B.C.E. and is most recognized for his construction of The Luxor Temple and hundreds of shrines he had built. (O’Connor, 2001) Throughout the course of this class we have been asked conceptualize different artifacts and determine what this artifact says about the royal figure that contracted it. Amenhotep’s Luxor Temple and the 250 statues that he commissioned show us that his reign was focused on impressing the rich and powerful people who surrounded him. This is based on who was intended to see the Luxor temple and what impression the temple would have left on its audience. Historians cite Akhenaten and Tutankhamun as the source of radical change in Egyptian history (Berman, 2001), when in reality Amenhotep III started the legacy of art appreciation that continued on to his successors.
Fear comes in all shapes and forms, be it a natural disaster, paranormal event, or a dangerous situation, it never fails to give us chills. When i was younger, i had a very scary event happen to me. It was a rainy and windy night and I was facetiming a friend, and she had just told me that there was a man looking into my front door windows, and when i looked up i saw that there was indeed a man in the window. I ran to my mom’s room, she called the sheriff and after they looked around and came back to us, they showed us a picture. The picture was of an outline of a pair of shoes (on our driveway) that were completely dry, even when rain poured on them.
Parasomnia refers to a wide variety of disruptive, sleep-related events or, "disorders of arousal." These behaviors and experiences occur usually while sleeping, and most are often infrequent and mild. They may however happen often enough to become so bothersome that medical attention should be sought out. "Parasomnias are disorders characterized by abnormal behavior or physiological events occurring in association with sleep stages, or sleep-wake transitions."(DSM pg. 435)
Did you ever awaken and find yourself unable to move? Perhaps you sensed a presence in your room or a pressure on your chest. This is sleep paralysis. It is a common disorder that affects millions of people. Most believe it occurs as we are on the edge of REM sleep. The disorder has been connected with such hallucinogenic events such as alien abduction or an evil presence. Sleep paralysis is an inability to move or speak, occasionally accompanied by hallucinations, for up to several minutes upon awakening or just before falling asleep.

In the poem, “Insomnia” by Elizabeth Bishop, the speaker discusses her feelings and experiences of restlessness and loneliness during the night, instigated by her lover’s unrequited love. The poem explores the parallel between the speaker and the moon through their shared dissatisfaction with themselves and the speaker’s aspiration to achieve the strength of the moon. In the poem, the speaker recognizes her paralysis in her feminine role and conveys her desire to escape from the realities of a patriarchal society toward an inverted fantastical reality.

“Lifestyles impact health, wellness, and fitness more than any other factors” (Corbin, Welk, Corbin, & Welk, 2016, p. 500). Throughout this course, I have learned how my current lifestyle has increased my risk for health problems. Many of the lab findings reported frightening information, which lead me to recognizing the importance of taking care of myself through the use of physical activity, healthy eating, stress management, and environmental influences. The overall reason for changing my lifestyle behaviors is I want to feel good — physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I need all aspects of my life to coordinate with each other, so that I may live a long life to the fullest and serve the purpose God has for me. Of course, “Knowledge doesn’t translate to behavior” (Corbin, et al, 2016, p. 339). In other words, even though I may be more aware of our health risks, does not necessarily mean I will adhere to the changes to reduce those risks. Without action, knowledge is useless; therefore, I am making a commitment to myself.
