High School Involvement, Academic Success, and Future Goals
I felt it was very important to be fully involved in my academics and activities in high school. My freshman year I took part in Show Choir, Football Cheer, Basketball Cheer, and finally Softball. My class schedule consisted of accelerated classes like Geometry because I took Algebra I in middle school. I decided to stay a part of only Show Choir and Football Cheer during my sophomore year, while still being challenged in my classes. By my junior year, I was in Football Cheer, HOSA, and Key Club. I took classes such as AP English and Pre-Calculus in order to keep myself challenged. My junior year was when I started taking part in community service at the local middle school
Being a busy person, I had to learn how to balance everything. When I got into junior high my parents always encouraged me to be involved in school activities because they thought it would keep me out of trouble, so I joined cross-country, band, and football. It was hard to keep up with everything at times, and my school work
My goals for the remainder of my high school career is to maintain my GPA, but also get myself more involved socially and physically active.
The goals I proposed throughout high school helped me give back to society and developed me as a person. When I decided to dedicate myself to extra-curricular activities it wasn’t simple because I faced financial difficulty within my family and living in a single parent household but I managed to take on the challenge of balancing the difficult environment I was raised in and achieving my educational goals.
My three years of high school have provided me with an opportunity to join many groups such as the Water Polo and Swimming teams along with being a Girl Scout and in the SADD and KEY clubs. Being part of these extracurriculars allow be to express character in many ways. Whether it is being placed in an unfamiliar event in a swim meet or being kind to others while participating in community service for KEY club, character is extremely important and shows that I am honest, reliable, and
Throughout my high school career, I have made it my priority to dedicate my time to academics, athletics, and community service projects. Academically, I strive to maintain my honor roll status which I have achieved since my freshman year. While dedicating my time to rigorous AP and Honors courses I have also been a member of the girl’s winter and spring track team since my freshman year and officially earned varsity status my sophomore year. I have also been an active member of the girl’s cross country team both my junior and senior year. Leadership roles such as these have allowed to me transform into a well rounded, hardworking, and responsible individual, which essentially allowed me to become a member of Barnegat High School’s National
I did not list any activities because I am a student that receives my education from multiple sources. I attend classes at my local high school, George Wythe and also at Wytheville Community College. In addition, some of my course work is taught on line and the professor is telecast to our computers. I am a member of National Honor Soceity through my accaemics at the high school, but I also am a member of Phi Theata Kappa through the community college. I have been able to obtain two honor society memberships since I am a dual enrollment student. However, I have participate in many academic and extracurricular activities. I have amassed numerous amounts of knowledge which will assist me in my future endeavors. I have accrued hundreds of
Throughout my high school years, I have challenged myself to maintain a high GPA yet, be involved in various student organizations. I have learned to manage my time and to become a responsible student by fulfilling the requirements and duties of each organization. I am involved in National Honor Society, Educational Talent Search, Book Club, Art Club, and Technology Student Association. I was selected to become a National Honor Society member my sophomore year and was accepted because of outstanding academic achievement, good service to the community, and leadership. This organization has helped me grow as a person and it has allowed me to contribute to the community. We take part in activities such as the annual toy drive, Thanksgiving food
As I continue prioritizing, the activities I participate in which include serving the community as an altar server for my Catholic Church, to my class work, my school and club sports and other extracurricular activities takes a tremendous amount of hard work. Juggling all these activities has not been easy, however; setting my priorities straight played a major role of reaching the short and long term goals I had for myself. I know that I have to perform in the class room first before I can play softball and attend a University. Since I can remember, I have worked hard to learn and keep up with my grades by receiving all A’s and having perfect attendance daily. I have not missed a day of school in my whole career, from kindergarten to today, my senior year.
D) For me, high school actually began when I started to challenge myself with the juggling act between volunteering opportunities, religious youth groups, and athletics. Foremost, I racked up over 100 hours of community service in of Key Club, Leo Club, and UNICEF, student-led organizations where members serve the community through activities including food drives, collecting clothing, and cleaning up parks and beaches while raising funds and awareness toward the provision of humanitarian aid to children and mothers in developing countries. Meanwhile, I was a youth leader of the T.I.T.U.S. Youth Group at the Journey Church and helped organized their 30 Hour Famine to raise money and awareness in the fight against poverty and injustice for
When teachers and professors are asked the question, “What are the best things to do in high school to help you get into college?” most of them will say to get involved in high school. This piece of advice was told to me many times when entering high school. I am very greatful that I took the advice to heart. I am involved in a large variety of activities through the school and through my home church, each of them having their own benefits.
My variety of well rounded activities underscore my personality and character. Choir, musical acting, cross country, track and field, chess club, National Honor Society (NHS), and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). I participate in cross country and track and field not only because I like running, but also because it builds character. It creates a noticeable difference between those who are disciplined, and those who aren’t, between who works hard, and who decides to slack, and between the leaders and the followers. Every day I commit myself to being disciplined, working hard, and leading the team. Though cross country and track are the largest extracurricular activities I am involved in, choir, NHS, and FCA fall close behind. Choir allows me to create beautiful music, not just listen to the songs on the radio, and also allows me to fall in love with the chords, the notes, and the rhythms that are composed within it. NHS pushes me to keep using my intelligence to the best of my abilities, and when partnered with discipline, elevates my grades. FCA allows me to lead and show others that I am a believer in God, for He is the center of my life. Finally, chess club pushes my strategizing abilities, while always having a near infinite number of moves that can be conducted. Though each extracurricular
When he was taking high school classes as an eighth grader he did not gel with the other students very well, but his overall high school experience was pretty good. He was only at the Berry Academy for high school Geometry for one year before the university scrapped the entire program. He started playing French Horn in 8th grade before starting high school and since then music has been a part of his life. He’d been taking piano as a child so it gave him a head start on understanding music. He played basketball at Berry Academy and with his church, but he stuck with band once he go to high school. In his church basketball league, Varsity players were not allowed to play because they wanted the atmosphere to be more relaxed and fun.
Since middle school, I’ve hadn't been the type of person that's into sports or clubs as much as the other students my age have been but I am the type of person that seeks opportunities to help out my community. I have volunteered in many locations starting from food banks, teaching at an elementary summer program, church on Saturdays, working the front desk at an organization, babysitting, the sheriff's department and some other small duties. From all of these, I have gained new skills that have been useful or will be in the future some day. For instance working with the sheriff’s department has taught me multiple skill on working the front desk and mainly improving my communication skills. In college communicating is very important since
This limited my circle of friends to just the people I had known for years. My athletic endeavours also partially attributed to my academic shortcomings, as I focused more on them than I did on school. I realized I had to have better balance between my activities and school. Instead of coming home, skipping my homework, and immediately going to bed, I would stay up later to make sure all of my work was done before going to sleep. This balance allowed me to take on other activities in addition to my athletics. I since have become involved in Class Council, National Honor Society, and Academic Challenge. While the first two organizations primarily consist of service work to the school and the community, Academic Challenge invokes the competition of athletics into an academic setting. This has allowed me to make new friends while also experiencing the competitive aspect I have always enjoyed. Branching out in high school, while not easily done at first, greatly benefitted me, allowing me to diversify myself in areas other than athletics and to better manage
Being involved in High school is an important goal for our future generation for the reason that it determines upcoming achievements. Involvement provides students a push to be motivated for success. This success can prepare students to the real world after high school. The three most important involvement a student can have is to be involved with grades, sports and clubs. These three involvements can cause a student to succeed and learn more about the real world.
