I was born on July 18, 1921, in Rhode Island. I was the youngest of 5 siblings. I graduated from Brown University in 1942. After that I achieved the magna cum laude and earned the William Gaston Prize for Excellence in Oratory and the Francis Wayland Scholarship. I spent most of my career studying psychoanalysis but my research was different from traditional psychoanalytic methods. My research focused on distorted thoughts that led to problematic behaviors. While I was working at the University of Pennsylvania I wanted to find a way to help my depressed clients better capture their emotions. I theorized that in order to change the symptoms, I must change their distorted thinking. This belief led me to the development of cognitive behavioral

Psychologists work in a vast array of areas with a myriad of clients; school children may be assessed for special services or supports in school based on individual needs, adults may self refer for various reasons including stress, marital issues, anxiety, or an infinite assortment of other potential personal reasons, or those facing the legal system may be assessed for their ability to stand trial. It is up to the psychologist to be educated in the tools available to them in their chosen field and how to best use them in the situations presented so the client is best served. In order to best select a proper assessment tool, often it is necessary to conduct an intake interview in order to obtain historical background from the
Beep! Beep! Beep! Right now I’m thinking to myself that why do I have to get up so stinking early for school. I just want to keep sleeping but I can’t because of two reasons. The first reason is obvious because I have to get up for school, and the second reason is that I had to go number one undoubtedly bad. The stretch receptors in my bladder were screaming at me to go. They were screaming at me because my bladder was full of 800 milliliters of urine. My bladder was so full because my kidneys were trying to keep my blood pH levels normal so they were flushing out excess H+ ions. The only way I knew this is because the stretch receptors sent this message through the nervous system (aka the brain (the control center)) The nervous system sends and receives electric messages through the spinal cord and especially the brain. The nervous system receives and sends messages through the receptors in the sense organs. The nervous system is a part of everything in your body because it helps with homeostasis in every organ system including itself. Once I received this message I got up quickly and ran to the bathroom and relived myself. [1]
The individual I did my crime scenario on, Ricky, has a lengthy criminal record, and participated in a violent offence, which lead him to serving a life sentence. His upbringing was filled with neglect from family members, and bullying from peers. Furthermore, he was susceptible to substance abuse, and pro-criminal attitudes and associations, therefore leading to a life of criminal activity. The theories which support his behaviour are: differentiation association theory, social control theory, and psychopathy. This is an individual who suffers from impulsivity, lack of empathy for actions, as well as displaying no signs of remorse. A pour relationship with his father, lead to attachment issues, he has no regard for what society thought of

“It takes a village to raise a child.” I never quite understood that saying when I was growing up, but my experiences teaching and working in school settings have showed me how true it really is. Obtaining a degree in school psychology will allow me to give the support that students, families and educators need to ensure that every student will thrive.
1. Psychology has contributed to the advancement of social issues in many ways. Psychologists challenged societies way of thinking on many social issues, one being segregation in schools. Psychology was used to show the affects of segregation and that psychologically homosexuals were no different than heterosexuals. Psychology has helped drop stereotypes and stigmas and helped create the way of thinking that most of society now has.
After checking some of the websites about psychobabble and its meaning, I have learned that there is a lot of words used today by ordinary people, and Psychologist. Some Psychologist or Doctors will diagnose children with ADHD, but they have not tested these children properly to prove their diagnosis. Sometimes these children may be just bored or they need something to do that stimulates their interest in the subject that they are studying or they just have built-up energy and they may need more exercise in their daily routine, than other children.
In Psychology 101, you learn about a personal fable; something that I have not lost. I have always wanted to change the world that I was destined for greatness and teaching elementary school students gives me that power. In the words of Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Psychology can be applied to everyday life in many ways. The three main ways Psychology applies to my life is through motivation and emotion, Stress and health and Psychological therapies. These topics of psychology are the ones that best describe my life. When most people think of psychology they think of therapists and psychological disorders. Psychology is much more than that and applies to everyone’s life in some form.
When I started this class this pass September I had a little knowledge of psychology. In my junior year of high school I took Psychology as an elective class. I really enjoy it alot, it amaze me how much there was to know about our brains. This September I came with the feeling that this psychology class was going to be way different from my psychology class from high school. And that my knowledge from my class before wasn’t going to be useful at all. But I was wrong, this class has actually been better than my other class. Because it has help dust off some of the concepted that I had learn before. But it has also made gain more knowledge about psychology that I didn’t knew before. For example the next concepts are the ones that had impacted me the most: critical thinking and the eight essential, implicit learning, short term and long term memories. I chose these concept because they have not only taught me more about psychology, but they have made a big impact on me.
Over the course of this semester, I have had the opportunity to learn about educational psychology. I have always enjoyed psychology and was especially interested in how it applied to teaching in the classroom. There were five specific concepts we discussed over the semester that especially interested me. I found that homogenous and heterogeneous grouping, extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, operant conditioning, cooperative learning, and divergent versus convergent thinking are five psychological concepts that every teacher should learn about in preparation for teaching.
