Throughout my college careers I have had the opportunity to have a variety of experiences that have attracted me to pursue Higher Education. I am going to highlight the three experiences that led me to Higher Education, and how Loyola University’s program will provide me the tools to become successful.
During my sophomore year I had an internship with the Pomerantz Career Center as a Peer Advisor. This was my first ‘real’ experience in seeing what Higher Education really is all about. My first semester in the position, I absolutely loved it. To this day I see it as a turning point in my life and cannot even imagine what my life would have been like without the experience. (I know that sounds cheesy, but it is so true!) I was so drawn to helping build up students’ resume and cover letters. This idea of development was something I wanted to push myself to learn more about. After reflecting on why I was so engrossed with this craving I discovered that it stemmed from growing up playing sports. In high school I was stereotyped as an athlete, I played three sports and almost went to college to pursue sports. During my time playing sports I was always looking for ways to constantly improve my game and my team’s game. I always got to know my teammates and tried to make us a family. I pushed everyone to try harder because I loved winning. I saw this aspect of myself carrying over to my role as a Peer Advisor. I loved assisting students with the tools and resources to better
Loyola Marymount University has been on my list of colleges ever since I stepped foot onto the campus in 2009. Five years later and my admiration of the school has still not reduced. Personally, I believe that without education, a person doesn't have the ability to become prosperous; education is the key to success. Considering this, a person also has to love what they’re doing every day or else they will never be happy. The combination of all these factors leads a person to live their life to the fullest with prosperity, wealth and pleasure. All of these key components are evident in LMU, thus the reason why I am so passionate about attending the campus and adopting the lifestyle of a lion. In addition to the beautiful campus that allows one to imagine they are on a resort instead of a school as well as the intimate student to faculty ratio that gives students the direct attention they need, LMU has a fantastic undergraduate business program that excites me and will prepare me for my future as a possible entrepreneur or lawyer.
This paper will explain the reasons that I want to obtain a college degree at Columbia Southern University and how I will make that happen. It will be a difficult task to accomplish but I believe that it can be done.By putting in the work and staying motivated to accomplish this goal I will be successful.
My Lewis & Clark’s education, will always be represented by opportunity. I have never felt a limit on anything I can do here. There are always places to grow and understand myself and what I want from my education. Lewis & Clark is providing me with the building blocks I need to construct the solid well rounded base of knowledge I need before I can pursue a more concentrated path. I have had the great opportunity to take a diversity of classes in the arts, science, humanities, along with a few others. Coming into the school, I had no plan for what I wanted to focus my studies on, but by taking such a medley of classes, I was finally able come across a topic that
Developing skills of organization, efficiency, and a strong work ethic was crucial to balancing time for studying, research, practices, and games. Additionally, to ensure I achieved my academic and athletic goals, effective communication with teammates, professors, and coaches was essential. Although my time as a student-athlete came to an end, the
As a young child I remember being asked the question: “what do you want to be when you grow up.” While I struggled with the answer for many years, in the course of deep reflection I found that I knew two truths about myself: I loved education, and I gained fulfillment through helping others. Developing and learning in the course of my four years at Loyola University Chicago, I discovered a passion to pursue a career in higher education.
With the undergraduate education I received at Our Lady of the Lake University I have a better understanding of my social surroundings and I am more skilled at diffusing strenuous situations. Furthermore, because of the experiences I have had in my undergraduate degree I am better understanding people’s emotions, which is vital as a supervisor in business. My undergraduate experience has also given me a better ability to grasp when someone is understanding and listening to my instruction, which is vital in a work place.
Conclusion: I am a highly motivated individual, and I can guarantee that I have what it takes to become one of the more than 130,000 Loyola University Chicago alumni. I’m a highly motivated individual, and I can guarantee that I will have the required skills to thrive if offered the opportunity. I left the military to forge a new path in life, and I feel that Loyola can prepare me to lead an extraordinary

As I thumb through the dozens of pages, excitement builds inside of me; reminiscent of the exhilaration I experienced on my first day of high school. The impressive combination of rigorous courses and distinguished faculty hints at the opportunities that await me. For the first time I can imagine my future self. I anticipate forming the lasting connections that will extend into my personal and professional life. These relationships will provide me with the resources and alliances I need to thrive. It is my time at LSU that will develop my confidence, sharpen my strengths, and shore up my weaknesses. With a greater understanding of my identity, I will gain the ability to guide myself toward a career in which I will
Loyola Marymount University has been at the top of my list of colleges from the very beginning. I first became aware of what LMU has to offer only one year ago. One summer, as i was visiting my brother in Playa Del Rey, i was introduced to one of his friends. It so happened to be that this friend of my brothers, Jared, was an LMU Alumni. As we had a conversation over what i was looking for in a university, he raved of all the opportunities LMU has created. This man was so passionate about his Alma Mater that i felt i had to explore the possibilities of attending this university. Sure enough, after extensive thought and several personal visits to the campus, i believe i have found my dream school. Not only does this university posses an amazing
Saint Louis University has always been one of the colleges that I viewed as a high-class, expensive institution; however, I never pictured myself attending such a university. On a whim, I applied to SLU this past spring. I soon discovered I had been accepted. Not only had the college accepted me, I was awarded with multiple scholarships. After much deliberation, as I had been accepted to other numerous colleges and universities, Saint Louis University was my final decision. The university’s proximity to home and renowned science department were the main components that swayed my decision.
Through my work as a counselor at Buena Vista High School in Lakewood I have been able to perform developed a strong interest in helping students succeed. While helping to organize a college and career day event, performing credit/grad checks with seniors, and counseling students who had educational, personal, and social challenges, I have XXXX
However, I am grateful that I have been able to identify the weak points in my learning efforts so early in my academic career and also been able to implement changes to them. The way in which I study is drastically changing and I have already seen positive improvements because of that. I have reprioritized many times, focusing primarily on my studies, and finally arrived at a balance that works best with my schedule. I have learned to not be reserved and to expose myself to all that is available at this university because some of my best experiences have come from unexpected moments. Overall, I have assured myself that choosing a liberal arts education was the best decision I made because it offers me an infinite amount of opportunities, both intellectually and personally. My goals have been reevaluated after my learning thus far and I am enthusiastic to continue to pursue them throughout the remainder of my time here. Academically, I plan to graduate with a competitive skillset that will set me apart from others in the workforce and also graduate studies. The education I am receiving here is phenomenal and I wish to translate that into my future career. To do so, I strive to be involved inside and outside of the classroom to further my knowledge in all subjects. Through involvement in various organizations, I aim to become more diverse in my abilities. Along with that, I have ambition
I want to become part of the Loyola Academy because I feel that it would develop me into a better man, student, and follower of Christ. Loyola Academy’s mission is “To form women and men for meaningful lives of leadership and service in imitation of Jesus Christ through a college preparatory education in the Jesuit, Catholic tradition.” As a student at Loyola Academy I will be challenged day in and day out by my teachers to be the best student that I can be. My teachers will challenge my critical thinking skills. Loyola Academy’s motto is ‘Women and Men for Others.”
This current year was difficult and moving due to the fact that my whole academic expectations dramatically changed. I hope that next year will be the point in which I get my life together and accomplish the goal of achieving good grades. With the assignment of a resume that is expected next year, changes need to be made. In the coming year my hopes are to find myself in order to have an easier time with personal issues and the resume. Currently, I already have an idea of who I want to be. The type of person that I aspire to be is a successful person who is looked up to. Of course, there are compliments here and there on my performance, but it does not seem to be enough. Hopefully, next year is going to be even better and filled with oppurtunities. The incoming school year is one where drastic growth is going to be made, all while helping build a resume for future
