The United States of America is known for the land of the free and the home of the brave but there has had to be a lot of sacrifice for our freedom and we don’t give enough appreciation to the ones who gained it. We use the word hero to describe the veterans who fought for our country but really there is not word in any language that can describe how blessed we are to have the people who fought for us. Sometimes the worst events will bring out the best in people. After Hurricane Harvey roared ashore, it was clear that the hurricane had made an impact in the most horrific way. However, ordinary heroes have emerged from the devastation to help those affected by Harvey with whatever means they could.

My hero is Nan White Payne, or my mother. She is my hero because she has a such a huge significance on my life. Everything she does is for me and my sister. She prepares dinner for us, makes sure the house is immaculate, provides us with everything we need , and has a profession that makes sure we live the life that we live. She even gave up a promotion when I was younger to make sure that I was taken care of. She is very warm-hearted, attentive, and understanding. She always listens to my problems and help me solve them even when she doesn’t really have the time to. She also advises me to do certain things to make sure I don’t offend anyone or make them upset. My hero does not ware a costume or play a professional sport or is he famous. My hero is my dad, he is my hero because he is hard working. He raised my sister, my brother, and me. He took care of my mom when she was sick, He makes sure that their is food on the table, and that I have clothes to ware. He works to provide all of these things for my family and me. He has helped me through a lot of things. He will help me with anything that I need help with. He came to all of my football and baseball games when I played . Who comes to mind when you think of the word “hero”? Maybe you think of Superman, Batman, or Captain America? I think of all mothers to be the real heroes. I believe that mothers are heroes because of how selfless, caring, and courageous they are. Superman might fly, and save lives, but mothers make them.

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. My definition of a hero is someone that has fortitude, someone that keeps fighting through it all, and most of all someone that, even though they are hurting, takes care of others first. A person that is a great, amazing example of this is, my aunt Karen.

In my eyes, my hero has lived a prosperous lifestyle. He has a jovial wife and 2 strong-minded boys who have astronomical amounts of respect for him. He has a job where a degree would only mean the amount of hard work you put in. His salary is based on success and non-stop on the clock hours. He’s my provider. The man who puts the food on the dinner table every single night. He’s not only my hero, but my leader, the one who I have followed my entire life.
