The connotation of the word hero is someone who is a brave and loyal person to save someone or something else. The denotation of the word hero is “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.” Found from the always wonderful dictionary.reference.com. in my opinion a hero is a special per son that would risk their lives for you or me.

The character, Johnny Cade, can be considered a hero for his many good qualities, but his heroic actions in saving children from a church fire, ultimately resulted in his untimely death. The character, Cherry Valance, can be considered a hero because Cherry sacrificed her social life and reputation to do what was right. Additionally, the character, Dallas Winston can be considered a hero because he stays loyal to Johnny and Pony by lying to the cops about where they were. To begin, Johnny Cade is undoubtedly one of the most heroic characters in the novel.

Hinton are Darry, Johnny, and Ponyboy. Darry gave up his dreams for his family, Johnny saved children from a burning church, and Ponyboy stuck by his friends during hard times.
A hero is someone who is admired for their courage and their dedication for helping others . Heroes put others before themselves and care for others without wanting anything in return. According to the about definition, Odysseus, the main character in the epic poem The Odyssey, does not deserve to be called a hero. As great as he is seen to be, Odysseus had weaknesses that lengthened his and his men’s journey back to Ithica, a major trait being his ability to not be dependable. Before the Trojan war began he feigned insanity but was caught.

There are many heroes in the book The Outsiders but Ponyboy, Johnny, and Soadapop especially stand out as heroes to me. Stand out to me for multiple reasons. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Soadapop are perform heroic acts out the book. Ponyboy saves multiple children from a Burning church. Johnny saves Ponyboy along with some children from the burning church. Sodapop helps Ponyboy from the very beginning of the
