In Tennessee, there are many wonderful communities to live in. The focus of this assessment is Hendersonville, Tennessee. This community is one I am the most familiar with since I have lived there for almost twenty years. I have seen this community change and grow throughout the years. The demographics of this community along with its infrastructure have changed a lot over the years. There are many good aspects of this community and many things that can be improved. As shown, there are multiple aspects of a community to take into consideration.

Shelby residents were once referred to as some of the most hospitable and happy people in the state. Henderson is a city located in Clark County, Nevada. Growing up in East Austin, one would be accustomed to seeing rundown neighborhoods inhabited mostly by African American and Hispanic working-class families. In the past few years though, the view has drastically changed. Now brightly colored two-story homes housing affluent Caucasian families occupy the once dilapidated areas. The previously desolated lots are now the future sites of lofts and condominiums. The recent changes in East Austin are a clear sign of gentrification. Gentrification is the extremely evident process of displacement. Revitalizing a derelict neighborhood favors the entire community, not just the ones with money. However, revitalization and gentrification

The diversity and location of NC State is what draws me to this University. From the first moment I stepped onto the campus, to the tours and talking to current students, I felt the excitement of the campus. NC State is a rich community that is strong because of the variety of classes, teachers, students, and activities, and for the array of perspectives and experiences. From attending a small school in a small town, then transitioning to a larger high school, this feels like a natural next step.
There are many changes that I have observed in my neighborhood since living here for 21 years. There has been a recent migration of homeowners moving out of the neighborhoods. The home owners are either renting out their homes, to a new influx of section 8 tenants or they have chosen to walk away from their homes leaving many in the area to go into foreclosure. Foreclosure and crime are two of the biggest element of change that I have noticed in my neighborhood, and many of these problems arise from the economy, health and illness, and familial structure breakdown.
Diversity, what does it look like at Jackson State University (JSU), a historically black university, located in Jackson, MS? Administrators in higher education are charged with the responsibility of preparing students to be civil minded in a society that is changing rapidly as it relates to the inclusion of others. With such intensity to incorporate increased changes and differences, there is a need to collectively understand the full scope of differences among students.
The diversity seen in Washington County was in fact unique and although there is no short answer to why so many different European ethnic groups settled in the area, there are many plausible explanations as to the origins of their settlements. It is important to highlight the role of European immigrants as a whole in the United States before focusing in on Washington County. During the first fifty years following the American Revolution, very few European’s immigrated to the United States. Following those years, Europeans begin to immigrant in large groups for various geopolitical and economic reasons. Typical plains settlers were farmers in search of prime farm land that they could be the soul owners of. In most cases, European immigrants wanted to own land, and were unable to do so in their previous countries. Washington County was similar to the overlaying theme of immigration to the Great Plains. Washington County’s location in respects to Kansas City was a major driver for its diverse population. Many immigrants were able to travel via train to Kansas City, or if they took wagon, their goal was to reach Kansas City. With Washington County being relatively close to Kansas City, immigrants would flock to the area. With the Oregon trial running through the area, many European immigrants stayed in the region during the latter half of the nineteenth century. Furthermore, in the early nineteenth century, the area was seamed with roads converging towards Santa Fe, yet no
In Ohio there many different thing that makes us different as state. We said to be the most boring and we don’t have many interesting artifacts, but I think that there are many different things that you can find interesting in Ohio. There are many different historical regions in Ohio that a lot of people here don’t know about that makes us so different each city in Ohio have a different way of life because our ancestors were so different. This causes something as simple as dialect to be different considering how close to the south or how close you are to the north.
The greatest component to a successful small town is citizens working together. As a result of our cohesive citizens, our town displays a stellar community within itself. A small town lives and dies by citizenship, the people who work hard, who donate their time to local works, or who hold the door for elders. Growing up, I have become more grateful towards the environment I have been raised in. Fortunately, I feel as though the small-town citizenship has rubbed off on me. Like a pig rolling in the county fair sawdust, I am grateful for the ability to learn the acts of being a good citizen.
The Great War killed around thirty-seven million civilians and military casualties. The war was a military conflict including almost all the largest powers in the world. It was a war between two opposing alliances, The Triple Entente (Allies) and The Triple Alliance (Central Powers). The main countries in the Triple Entente were Russia, France and Britain. The Alliance powers consisted of Germany, Turkey (also known as the Ottoman Empire), Austria Hungry and Italy. After five assignation attempts, on June 28, 1914, Gavrilo Princip, a member of a Serbian Nationalist group, assassinated the next king of Austria-Hungry, Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo in Bosnia. One major reason for why World War One occurred was due to the difference over foreign policy between major world powers hence the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. On July 28, 1914, Austria declared war on Serbia as they only gave nine out of ten demands made in the ultimatum from Austria thus bringing all the alliances together. This assassination is what triggered what is now known as World War One, making it spread from 1914 to 1918. World War One was a military conflict among great powers of the world. Most European countries had the capacity of motive and means to engage and were willing to take part in the First World War. The four main causes of World War One consist of Militarism, Alliances, Nationalism and Imperialism.
In Common hour, we learned about Diversity, Community, & Social Justice. We learned that Diversity and Social Identity are interconnected, one cannot exist without the other. Social Identity is one aspect of Diversity, while Diversity is based upon Social Identity. However, both of these concepts depend on whether you experience Privilege and Oppression. Like Diversity and Social Identity, Privilege and Oppression cannot exist without the other. On the other hand, it’s not necessarily good that Privilege can only exist because of Oppression because people, regardless of their own personal accomplishments, are judged and discriminated by others.
Imagine a world full of people that have skin colors from the lightest shade of white (synonym) and the darkest shade (synonym) of brown. Then think of everyone speaking with different accents and performing the simplest of tasks completely differently, but all that differentially doesn't matter to anyone. That's a world that would seem perfect, but impossible to obtain.
The convenience of living in an urban or suburban neighborhood can be appealing to many people. Choosing between areas can sometimes be overwhelming for some individual. People are not only concerned about the safety of a community, but they are also concerned about the environment. Although some neighborhoods might look attractive, people should consider the expense that comes with it, and how commuting will affect them in the long run. Nevertheless, both neighborhoods have their specific advantages and disadvantages. When choosing between an urban or suburban neighborhood, it is important for people to research the community, the expense, and convenience
