Meeting Sullivan was life-changing for Hellen Keller because she got to experience new emotions, learn new things, and go through lots of jolly emotions throughout and some sorrow. She learned unfamiliar words throughout the excerpt and experienced new emotions based on her actions. Hellen Keller is a child that is blind and dying, but she makes a way. Keller struggles at first learning unfamiliar words, but she gets used to them as she has more practice and feeling of the word. When she learned the unfamiliar words, she was filled with joy. Paragraph 5 states “Miss Sullivan slowly spelled into my hand the word “d-o-l-l.” I was at once interested in this finger play and tried to imitate it. For that alone Distinguisheth him From all the beings Unto us known.” This stanza from the poem, “The Godlike”, by Goethe was recited by Gerda Weissmann after she was saved by Kurt Klein. Gerda repeated this poem in spite of the Germans who put Gerda through so much. Gerda Weissmann was a courageous Holocaust survivor who faced death in order to save innocent lives from the hands of the Germans.

While listening to Sayaka Isoda, from Japan, and Ali Al-Tameemi, from Iraq, I saw just how different their countries were from the United States. These differences led to differences in leadership between the three countries.
Earlier in the story, Keller teaches the neighborhood children how to be efficient police officers. In doing this, Keller successfully draws attention away from his troubled past, allowing people to forget how his fraudulent buisness induced the deaths of many innocent people. Keller advises Bert to "be v-e-r-y careful" throughout his life (Miller 13). By instructing Bert to be scrupulous, Keller subconsciously reminds himself how cautious he must be from now on. Keller has already gone years without being questioned about the defective plane parts and mysterious crashes, and he wants to make sure that know one finds out the actual truth about his relationship to the crime. His wife warns him that he "better be smart now", she claims that "this thing is not over yet" (75). Ms. Keller tries to warn her husband to be shrewd as he goes about the rest of his life. Every day Keller is constantly reminded about what he did, the guilt of his former mistakes is slowly gnawing away at him. "All these years" Keller claims, "George don't go to see his father. Suddenly he goes...and she comes here...she don't hold nothin' against me, does she?" (37). Keller is so paranoid that he will ultimately receive the punishment he deserves for his crime when Deever's son comes to visit. Paranoia is a
