Overall the performance was great. I’ve always loved the sound of guitars because my dad and uncle both play. I became entranced by the music it reminded me of my childhood. Like these were pieces id hear on my favorite shows like tom and jerry. I liked the recital overall because each person picked great pieces but all went together in a way like it had a theme that reminded me of Hispanic or Italian music. Even though, some of the performers messed up they still did well and played right through like nothing happened. I also, liked how the players expressed the way they felt playing the music their body language and facial expressions made me feel the music even more. The stage mostly bare but, was set up with a chair and for one performance …show more content…
Villa-Lobos was self-taught and his style was avant-garde Brazilian folk music. This being his first piece was written in the 20th century. The key of the song is an E minor which gives it an insouciant type of sound. The piece is normally five-minutes. It features arrangements of notable melodies, with a few eloquent dissonances. You can hear a rhythm of the street music, popular Brazilian music and tango. The purpose of this piece was to include all of brazils music into one piece that doesn’t follow the normal restrictions placed in music back then. However, Choros No. 1 is traditional in song form and its tonality. The song opens with 3 notes each has a fermata over them that allows the player to lengthen the way they want. This is a notable example of how street improv type of music is what influenced Heitor to make this piece. The piece is disjunct and dissonant with melodic leaps and larger intervals. The contour is arch-like and the range is wide. There is some vibrato on some of the notes. The texture of the piece is monophonic. I enjoyed this piece the most compared to the others, even though its disjunct and dissonant the piece sounds very pleasurable to the
The northern regions tended to have more religious beliefs. The southern regions tended believe in a church and state separation. According to "The Articles of Agreement, Springfield, Massachusetts in 1636" (Doc D), whoever entered Massachusetts had to comply with the certain articles and orders that shaped a community around God and the share of the land. The “Articles of Agreement, Springfield, Massachusetts, 1636’’ is valid document because it was basic laws. As a result of “The Articles of Agreement Springfield, Massachusetts, 1636’’, the northern region became more religiously involved with society, causing the one region to split into two. Because Virginia was becoming more of an economical region such as its tobacco farming, it
Overall, this was a very good performance. The audience applauded greatly at the end as parents stood proudly and embraced their sons and daughters. I thought that it was well put together and was very interesting. I enjoyed the music more than I thought I would and have the upmost of respect for the University of Redlands Wind
Overall the performance was a great experience. It was wonderful to hear music from an area that was previously unknown to me. The ancient musical language and centuries old instruments were a wonder to uphold. Not to mention the brilliant collage of Kyrgyz and American styles. I hope to hear more from this ensemble in the
They played a variety of fast and slow pieces. Some pieces they danced to, others they sat and played, but most of the time at least one person was walking around stage. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Especially the way the members talked to the audience. It felt more like they were bringing us into their daily shenanigans than bring us in to watch them preform. Michael talked about the ensemble at the very beginning and then explained why the concert was called “The American Journey”. The way Michael spoke was very Disney cast member like. Explaining everything in a friendly tone and inviting us to watch what was about to happen and made me enjoy the whole experience even
My favorite part of the concert was the second part. The group played a song called “Body and Soul.” The guitarist played slowly before the others joined. They created a relaxed atmosphere with an old-school effect. All the notes were legato except the melodies of the drum which was staccato. The combination added character to the piece and made it entertaining. At 19:00, the pianist played briskly but beautifully, then the guitarist did the same. The notes became high pitched and the tempo and dynamics increased. After the guitar stopped, everything went into decrescendo and the melodies from the bass and drums became choppy (staccato). Overall the piece surrounded the theme of dependence and how it affects one’s happiness or strength. The piano and the guitar brought the happy aspect to the piece and without it, everything weakened and became uncoordinated. Initially it celebrated peace,
It started off with two saxophones, who I thought played beautiful together. They started off at the exact same time, which I thought was very impressive and was in unison their whole performance. I also enjoyed the sopranos that sang. They both had beautiful voices, but I liked the second one who sang Over the Rainbow from “The Wizard of Oz” a lot better. Her voice was softer and less aggressive. The flute and piano ensemble was probably my least favorite performance of the night. She seemed unconfident and hesitant about herself and her performance. It appeared from a listening standpoint that she missed or was off on notes, which is bad if an audience member
The La Jolla Symphony concert was held on a warm Saturday night, May 5th, and it was definitely a memorable experience, since it was the first symphony concert that I have ever attended in my life. The whole atmosphere was very engaging and the music itself was very different in an insightful way. Over the course of the concert, five pieces were played as Sameer Patel conducted. Each piece was incredibly unique in their own way and did associate themselves together and also to many of the concepts we have learned in class. The concert overall was astonishing that I enjoyed every second of it and will now attend as many more symphonies as I can.
I also think the choreography with the singing was very well planed out because it made sense and helped tell the story very well it also helped keep the audience intrigued. I Think the environment of the theater was good because I didn't not notice any phones in use also everyone was quiet and respectful. The only issue was the play is was very long and they waited to long for a intermission and the room is full of very small children, so they started to get a little antsy and that was a little
It was magnificent because I genuinely like the way the pieces were performed by the dancers. Having this show dedicated to Martin Luther King, Jr. made me fall more and more in love with each piece. You could follow the storyline of Martin Luther King, Jr. as each piece was performed. I could not take my eyes off the stage when watching the pieces because each piece was just as captivating as the next one. The pieces makes me as an audience member reflect on why we celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Martin Luther King, Jr.. Day. I appreciate when a piece can make me reflect back on my life or reflect on the world around
The concert was very good overall. I am not interested in the classical music concert, but this concert made me thing different towards the classical concerts. Also I learned about the instrument called organ, very interesting instrument. I strongly recommend going to the organ concert. Especially if Dr. Carol Williams and Martha Jane Weaver are starring, you should definitely attend. No regret
Many writers use literary elements to intrigue their readers into reading their novel or short story and making them feel a certain type of emotion, they could either feel scared, happy, angry, or just plain silly. In the story " The Fall of the House of Usher" Edgar Allen Poe uses suspense, symbolism, and Gothic elements to draw the reader into the story and make the feel like they are a part of it. In the story, Poe uses suspense to trigger the readers sense of fear and suspicion on wanting to know what happens next . "As if in superhuman energy of his uttering...the huge antique panels to which the speaker pointed threw slowly back"(Poe 309).
The overall concert offered a wide verity of choir song, from classical pieces composed by Mozart to musical show tunes. The combination of which resulted in an overall enjoyable experience. The concert was not the first choir concert I had ever attended so I went in expecting it to be similar to the high school choir performances I have seen before. I was not expecting the scale of the concert to be so large. Instead of being one choir and an hour-long program there were four groups along with a much longer program. Each of the choir groups had a different dynamic, sound and feel to it. The differences made it interesting.
I do think many of us in the special education community think we have overcome many of the earlier problems regarding the treatment of individuals with disabilities and access to special education. However, I do not think we have solved these problems. As I read this story, I thought about a young man I attended school with as a child. Jeremiah was an amazing person. Hurt by so many people in his short life, he was stubborn and independent.
The music played throughout all of the concerts adhered to be diverse. The instruments, the individuals performing, and the conductor all proved to be outstanding. The concerts proved to be interesting as I witnessed them, first hand.
Somehow, no matter what we are facing we always seem to pull it together during the concert. I loved the 2 soloists in 1-2 and how much courage they had to give it their all even though it was their first time being in choir. Choir 3-4 always amazes me with their rich sound. They sound so sophisticated and mature. It was also interesting to hear them perform another rendition of a song we had sang last year. Also, the middle schoolers did wonderful with their carol of the bells. In terms of our set list, I would say Gborn was our best piece. I heard the most feedback from the audience about how that song was beautiful, angelic, and just rich overall. I think we could have worked on dynamics at times but it is definitely a song that should be taken to tour. My personal favorite was “Merry Christmas Mozart” because it showed the fun side of us and gave the audience some perspective. Plus, as I looked around during that song I saw nothing but smiles. The most touching part of the performance was when the alumni came on stage and sang “Carol of the Bells” with us. It brought back memories of them being with us. It also signified how much of a family we are even after we go to
