Above all, this article aims the spotlight on bullying, a 15-year-old who took her own life due to harassment, torment, rumors, physical threats all leading it to being bullied by well-known good students. In the essay "Who Would Peter be Today?", Ismael Estrada, the writer of the essay, talks about a student named Peter who committed suicide because he was bullied. He killed himself by shooting himself in the head. Estrada never actually bullied Peter but he never stopped it. Estrada also laughed at the taunts and the harsh words made. He reacted as most children do by going along with it. I was bullied as a child and I have friends that were also bullied. From what I've seen, heard and experienced other children are of accepting it, participating and intervening. I think all three of these reactions are common in children.

Throughout life, people face many dilemmas, when they overcome these obstacles they portray part of their personality. This is seen in the novel Hate List, as Valerie is being judged, tormented, and degraded by people in her town after the shooting in Galvin High. She is determined to put the past behind her and learn new traits about herself she never knew of. A theme that is shown in the novel Hate List, written by Jennifer Brown is, a person’s emotions and thoughts can be faltered depending on how they respond to the conflict they have come across. In the novel, Hate List, after the shooting Valerie Leftman felt overwhelmed she wanted to forget the shooting and help others by painting and speaking her emotions.

Racism is one of the biggest problems today. As we look back, a considerable measure of our history is based on racial discrimination, hatred, and African Americans being treated as slaves. The Shadow of Hate revolves around a history of intolerance in America, and how the origins of race affected American people. The Shadow of Hate was an eye opener as it shows how the native Americans, Japanese Americans, African Americans, Jews, and Hispanics were treated back in the days. In this paper, I am going to summarize the documentary and compose my perspectives on what I think about it.

In the book The Hate List by Jennifer Brown, the story is told from the point of view of Valerie Leftman, the girlfriend of Nick Levil. Nick shot multiple people in their school and injured more. Valerie unknowingly helped him create the list of victims. I think the book could have been as interesting if it was told from the point of view of Ginny Baker. Ginny Baker was shot by Nick in the face. With bullying, boys are highly to be attacked by a bully with physical abuse and girls are likely to be bullied indirectly. Statistics show that 15 to 25 children commit suicide. There have been many young people wo have committed suicide due to being bullied. These young peoples names are Ryan Halligen, Phoebe Prince, Dawn Marie Wesley, Kelly Yeomans, Jessica Haffer, Hamel Natosh, April Himes, Cherice Moralez, and Rebecca Ann Sedwick.

Bullies might not always be aware of the severe consequences of their actions but this cannot condone the sorrow and pain they inflict upon the victims. Bullying often evokes psychosomatic illnesses. Victims complain about headache, heart diseases, dizziness, nausea and sleep disorder. Bullying becomes the dominating part of their whole life; they cannot do anything without thinking of the horror of the next workday. Weakened as they are, victims become an even easier target for people who want to harm them. It is a vicious circle, hard to break out for those terrorized by bullying. Many of them think of committing suicide as the last way out.

(ABC News) The anger and depression is overwhelming and hard to control. There is no doubt that bullying cause’s suicide, and those bullied often commit acts of violence against others.

Society plays a big role in the development of a school shooter. When an individual feels isolated or excluded from a community and is a target for bullies, it often causes them to take out that repressed anger and lash out in heinous ways. Nowadays, students are typically at school five days a week for six to seven hours a day. That is a lot of time spent with classmates, and unfortunately, bullies. Bullying usually involves an imbalance of power, in which the bully hopes to establish a feeling of dominance over their victim. (Bullying, 2017) Being the victim of bullying is certainly an emotionally damaging situation, especially when one feels helpless and alone. Anger or discontent from the victim may develop into something deeper like hatred and the need for revenge, which is the reason why some individuals turn to shooting schools- to finally hurt others instead of being the one getting hurt. There are many young aged kids and teens who experience bullying, some of them bullied for their appearance, some for their popularity status, and others surprisingly let themselves. However, it’s pretty doubtful anyone really knows why a kid would let themselves be bullied. Author Gary Soto developed a short story called “Fear” designating bullying with no specific theme but made to feel the anxiety or agitation of its presence of danger, pain, and evil. This author's breathtaking story is about a young 5th-grade boy named Frankie T. (F.T) with many things gone wrong in his family/life. Those things turned him to be a bully and later someone who would drown their own brother in a pool, and beat a woman with a lengthened pipe in a burglary years later. Frankie T. is an interesting character that can be better understood by examining his Character Traits, Contributing Factors, and his Motivations.

According to nobullying.com, ¨Over 77 percent of students have been bullied verbally, mentally, and physically. Each day about 160,000 students miss school because of bullying or because of their fear of being bullied.¨ According to nveee.org, ¨86% of students said, “other kids picking on them, making fun of them or bullying them” causes teenagers to turn to lethal violence in schools.¨ When a student gets harassed or bullied it adds anger inside of them and hate. The feeling of being picked on and having this negative attention can make a child act out or feel hatred and somehow want a way to let the anger out. They could also have it all stuffed inside with all of these horrible thoughts and one day decide to explode which could result in a horrible outcome.

In The Hate U Give, we are introduced to our protagonist Starr who is a 16 year old that is trying to figure out the struggles of high school. She lives in a ‘ghetto’ part of town and goes to private school in another town. She is trying to figure out the struggles of growing up and becoming her own person which include, dating a white man that she hides from her dad, feeling out of place, trying to be friends with the mean girl in school, and isn’t sure who she can trust.

When children are pushed to commit foolish activities or suicide because of bullies, one can tell there is something wrong with the way situations are being handled in our society. The documentary, Bully, presents countless examples of the effects of bullying and how poorly circumstances are managed. Through instances resulting in juvenile detention or taking one’s own life, the documentary displays various ways kids deal with torment. As we follow the lives of five different youths suffering at the hands of their peers, we see just how much these kids go through with little to no support.
