In the sick minds of those who murder again and again, rape, pain and death are twisted into a passion to kill. Otherwise known as an ordinary individual, serial killers turn to violence and death in search of power over others, and to explore their fatal addiction to their immoral thrills. Even though these horrific crimes of a serial killer repulse most individuals, there is still a strange fascination when it comes to these deadly killers. I chose the movie The Lovely Bones to profile a serial killer. In the movie we do not really get a background of Mr. Harvey childhood, but in the book we find out that Mr. Harvey’s mother was a desperate woman who taught Harvey to shoplift and even rob victims. His father has an abusive personality …show more content…
During the middle of the night, he goes out to the cornfield and begins digging a hole in the field for his plan. He picks the cornfield, knowing not only does it seem deserted throughout the day, but also that Susie takes this path everyday to go home. Once Mr. Harvey is done building is underground shack, he begins to go along with his plans of luring Susie inside. After school on December 6, 1973, Susie begins to walk home when she runs into Mr. Harvey. Mr. Harvey begins telling her that he has built something and would like her opinion of this. She denies at first, he does not try and force her, but casually tries to get her interested in something he built. As he begins to walk away he says that he will show the other kids in the neighborhood what he had built and that they would be excited. Susie then agrees to go with Mr. Harvey, he shows her the clubhouse that he built for the neighborhood kids but in reality he built it for her. Once Susie and Mr. Harvey go down the ladder in the underground shack, the shack is filled with things that grab her attention. He begins to try and make her feel comfortable and then slowly begins to make his moves. His laugh in this scene of the movie is creepy and in a way gives you chills. He touches the top of Susie’s hat, takes his coat off because it feels warm, and then sits across from her. He begins to tell her that she
Throughout time there has always been mentally disturbed people, but the problem is that they are on the streets and not in a psych ward. As you read this paper you will learn about some of the most infamous serial killers of the 20th century and the horrific atrocities they committed. We will go inside the mind of a serial killer and discover what drives them to kill people and also why some serial killers love to devour their victims, keep their limbs and even continue to preform sexual acts with them even after there are already dead.
Many serial killers and mass murderers have been interviewed and tested to reveal why they killed and raped large groups of people. There are several factors as to why they perform such acts. My findings in this paper show that there is a logically explanation as to why they do what they do. In no way is killing or violence justified, but people have been through things we couldn’t imagine being put through. Many of these killers were put through harsh abuse physically, mentally, and emotionally which haunted them in their futures. This caused them to resolve their issues through inhumane ways. One who was put through sexual abuse became lust serial killers by wanting to rape the victims or sexually punish them. They want their
Mass Murderers and Serial Killers are nothing new to today’s society. These vicious killers are are generally vicious, fierce beasts and have an unusual inclination to murder. Do these killers get fulfillment from slaughtering? Is there a contrast between mass murderers and serial killers or would people say they are the same? How do they pick their victims and what are some of their characteristics? This paper will highlight the answers to these questions and give a better insight of what goes on in the minds of mass murderers and serial killers.

The topic I chose to research is serial killers who murder three or more people. Typically, they have breaks in between their kills known as the “cooling off” period. Most serial killers go years without being caught and typically will live most of their lives never being brought to justice. There are many psychological theories to explain serial killings, but the FBI believes they are seeking attention. By using the behavioral, biological, and social perspective I will explain why people are serial killers. I find it interesting why people decide to take another life and by doing so end theirs. They can commit the ultimate crime by taking the life of another and feel no sympathy. They generally interest me in the way they can do these horrid things without any sense
How the minds of serial killers work is a very interesting subject indeed. I marvel at how a person could take the life of another human being – and enjoy it. Motivations behind one wanting to kill another can stem from feeling dismissed or rebuffed, the need for power and the need for perfection. It is also possible that a serial killer is trying to overcome some sort of physical limitation. In Charles Schmid’s case, he stood a mere 5’3”, yet he was in extremely good physical shape and excelled
Serial killers. The plague of our existence, seem to be directly cultivated from the depths of our nightmares, both intriguing and terrifying. Hiding behind regular existences, serial killers often escape capture for years, decades and sometimes eternity. By understanding the motivation and the behaviours of serial offenders, critical knowledge is found in apprehending and convicting them. Over the past 150 years, there has been an immense fascination with serial homicides as noted by characters such as ‘Hannibal Lecter’, ‘Silence of the Lambs’ and ‘Halloween’ (Hickey, 2002). A “Serial killer” is defined as a person who commits more than one murder over a period of time according to the sixth edition of Crime and Criminality (Reid, 2007). Research
We all know that there were many things that Susie could have done differently like walking away from Mr. Harvey or telling him no and that she wont follow him. She could have taken a different way home and not gone through the cornfield. There are also little things she could have done like putting her books in her bag so that the note wouldn’t haven fallen out.

Each day, she would run back to the community park, where she would wait until everyone left the premises, before turning back to the trailer park, her home for the last fifteen years. She would cry to her mom, and wonder why it was them who were destined to have a life like that. Why it was them that had to be different.
She continues to walk straight ahead and until she comes upon an abandon home, with boarded windows and spray painted phrases all over it. She storms into the house, tumbling over pieces of wood, while throwing down her belongings. She goes into her backpack and pulls out a white shoe box. Sandy begins to pray and ask God to forgive her for what she was about to do. She opens the box and gets out a ziploc bag filled with drugs and a needle. Also, in the box there 's a rope with a sheet of paper and an ink pen. She then pulls out the paper and pen. She begins to write,
She opened that door and it was almost black except the dim light at the end of the hall. She started to walk down the hall, leaning herself against the wall. She made it to Sandy’s room and it was really cold, she could feel someone else in the room besides Sandy. She walk to the bedside table and turned on the lamp, Sandy was blue with cold and she saw no one else but her and Sandy, she talked to her about a dream she had about her parents who had died when she was young, then they went back to Kit’s room and did not fall asleep till the break of dawn.
“I don’t feel guilty for anything. I feel sorry for people who feel guilt,” -Ted Bundy. Throughout the world a specific group of individuals such as Bundy, are classified as serial killers. According to the Britannica Encyclopedia the term serial killer or the act of serial killing can be defined as “the unlawful homicide of at least two people, carried out in a series over a period of time.” Every year such murderers create chaos in hundreds and thousands of people’s lives through their dark motives and monstrous actions. In the sick minds of those who murder, pain and death are twisted into a passion to kill. Unlike a “normal” individual, serial killers rely on murdering to fulfill their craving of their gruesome thrills and addiction. Most of society incorrectly views serial killers because of how they are portrayed on television. For example, Dexter is a handsome serial killer who does lead a normal life but, he takes it upon himself to rid all of the “bad guys” in the world in order to accomplish his need to kill. Then there’s Freddy Krueger, he gets revenge and kills people in their dreams, causing their death in the real world as well. Michael Meyers and Dr. Hannibal Lecter are more examples of infamous serial killers. All of these exaggerated serial
A serial killer is an individual who murders three or more people, due to abnormal psychological gratification, with the murders taking place over more than a month including a "cooling off period" between them. Normally, a traumatic episode in their life causes the serial killer to reach a breaking point (Larson). Their brains are rewired to target victims of similar features and backgrounds. The leading cause of becoming a psychopath is the mental or physical abuse a human goes through as an adolescent. The parent leaves an imprint on the child that will affect the lives of many, and end many of those lives in return.
