During this time, I was a staunch advocate and facilitator for the Advancing Minorities Interest in Engineering. During this time, every summer, I would take on 2-5 engineering students that were attending HBCU. I would provide them exposure to what engineers do overseas, help them network with other engineers, as well as provide them exposure to construction activities. By being a champion for this program, I have created lasting relationships, which I have been able to leverage to create opportunities for other young aspiring

DeVos has also trained her sights on business, at the time of her appointment as secretary she was the Chairwoman of the Michigan based, privately held enterprise and investment management firm, The Windquest Group (TWG). The group has a host of interests in clean technology, manufacturing and new technological solutions. DeVos also cares about the removal of trade barriers and development of a good environment for people with various skills to thrive. According to Betsydevos.com, Betsy attended Holland Christian High School in his home town of Holland, Michigan. She later went to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts

This innovative program will make a meaningful difference in my life. I hope to build on my legacy of work in education, sustainability, and addressing the world’s needs. In addition, I will continue to focus on the environment, through the lens of wellness, whether through in-school or out-of-school programs. I’ll also continue to address the most pressing needs the world is facing. When I grow up, I want to have a career in math and science related fields. My goal is to one day be able to use engineering and technology to end global warming make the world a pollution free place. Hence, I hope to learn and gain a lot by participating in The Academy at Rutgers for Girls in Engineering and
Why could Darry easily be a soc? Ponyboy believes Darry could easily be a soc because in the text in says, “Darry was too smart to be a greaser.” (134) Furthermore, Darry was intelligent, athletic, and attractive, and he could’ve gotten a scholarship easily if he was a soc. Ponyboy, Soda, and the greasers are the only reason Darry is not a soc. Darry had to take care of the Ponyboy and Soda after their parents died in the car accident. This changed Darry because he had to quit school and get a job to get money to raise Ponyboy and Soda. This is why Ponyboy thinks Darry could easily be a soc.
Created by one of the most important men in America's history, The George Washington University is an institution with an impressive reputation and outstanding academics. Rooted in the city of Washington D.C., it offers unprecedented opportunities at research and internships. It is perched where the worlds of science, arts, and technology join together to forge new paths. It provides me an unrivaled opportunity to learn alongside world leaders, giving me a chance to participate in the world around me. If I go to George Washington, I will be part of a remarkable global community, aiming to change the world. I would be able to engage in important research in some of the most extraordinary facilities in the country. It would be an honor to attend
The Black Engineers Society (BES) is a collegiate chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). We focus on providing support and resources to help minority students on our campus succeed and excel, primarily in the fields of engineering, but also in science, technology, and math (STEM). Our organization has a number of active members who benefit in one way or another from the information and resources we provide. We have development initiatives including increasing the academic excellence, technical skills, and professional outreach of our members.
He has maintained a positive outlook on life, even with all the programs and classes he runs in his life. His mechanical engineering background has allowed me to learn many skills such as electrical and construction basics. His studies concentrated on renewable means of energy. He is exceedingly thrilled with the use of solar panels to run automobiles. His studies have influenced my career path of chemical engineering. In the future, I hope to study renewable resources to help find a way to sustain the Earth without bringing fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas. By finding a way to make a viable discovery in the study of renewable energy, it will forever impact the world, making it a better place for our future generations. Dr. Wes Grebski has inspired me to make a change in the world due to his heroic
Why Harvey Mudd? That was the question I pondered upon when I first heard of the school from Mr Peter Osgood, an admission counselor there. After Mr Peter presented a brief introduction, I had many questions about Harvey Mudd, and I found myself researching the school the next days. Science, Math, Core curriculum and other similar terms were the ones that mostly popped up frequently upon a simple google search. A simple google search wasn't enough to satisfy my curiosity, so I decided to visit the school in November.Upon arriving on the doorstep, I felt love at first sight, as cliche as that might sound. I found myself humbly interviewing current and former students. In spite of the external appeal, after a long time of reflection and research, I came up with three reasons.
Tulane’s adventurous culture has created a community that, I am sure, will be both beneficial for me and to which I could contribute much, as well. First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank you for selecting me as one of your 2015-2016 recipient of the Charles E. and Thomas E. Wilson Memorial Scholarship. It humbles me that an organization exterior to my daily life has recognized my continued academic and professional effort. At Dartmouth, I am a Junior pursuing my A.B. in the Engineering Sciences with a minor in government. I also intend to complete Thayer’s five-year B.E. program in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
On February 14, 2016, the Chronicle of Higher Education published an essay by Julio M. Ottino and Gary Saul Morson entitled “Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities.” Ottino and Morson discuss the importance of the fields of engineering and the humanities. The purpose of the essay is to show how engineering and the humanities are linked together and are needed simultaneously. Even though, Morson and Ottino adopt a weak informal tone in the middle of their argument; the authors end their argument strong by successfully using ethos and logos to appeal to their audience, college and university faculty and administrators.
I am in an anomalous situation. I am an immigrant from Venezuela, have been living in the States for 10 years as of September, and am not yet considered a permanent citizen. This has of course circumscribed my options, but it has widened my perspective and encouraged my engagement in academic activities to benefit the rigor of my academic profile. In the ongoing process of striving to overcome my own limitations and deficits, I have grown to value assiduity and diligence. College applications have surfaced, and I am definitely limited. Although, I grateful to have opportunities to be able to attend an institution of higher education and hopeful to fulfill my potential.
