Early Life Erik Weisz (Harry Houdini) was born in 1874. He was born in Budapest Hungary to a Jewish family. In 1878 Erik Weisz and his family left Austria-Hungary and sailed to America on the SS Fresia when he was only 4. In America the Weisz family changed their names. Erik Weisz was changed to Ehrich Weiss. In 1883 at age 9 Ehrich went to work for his family and he did his first performance. He was the youngest trapeze performer. Harry was always constantly setting the bar for future magicians. Death A couple of days before Harry's death he was in Canada for a performance. Before the last show, some kids were behind stage visiting and Harry told them he could withstand any punch to the stomach. One of the kids caught him off guard and hit him multiple times in the stomach before he was ready. Later it was discovered that this was what caused Harry's appendix to explode and it caused his death. On October 31st, 1926 Harry Houdini died in Detroit, Michigan. Harry Houdini was arguably one of the most talented magicians the world has ever seen. He was born on March 24, 1874 to Rabbi Mayer Weisz and Cecilia Steiner as Erich Weisz. In Budapest, the Weisz family lived with six children until they immigrated to the United States in 1876.
William Daniel Ehrhart was born on September 30, 1948. He was the third of four kids, his father John H. Ehrhart was a reverend in Roaring spring, Pennsylvania. After Ehrhart was born him and his family moved to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. A couple of years later they packed their bags and moved to Perkasie, PA, where Ehrhart’s parents spent the rest of their lives.
They first settled in New York City nine years later after he was born in 1849. He attended the public schools until he was old enough to start working at the age of fourteen.
