Hard Candy is one of those few films that was undeservingly sitting on my Hulu queue for about 4 months until it expired. I like to think that the reason this occurred was because I’ve always been quick to dismissed movies available to stream on Hulu simply because I’ve found that their quality of movies has always been a couple of tiers below the likes of Netflix, HBO Go and even Amazon Instant Video. However after just watching this film I realized that particular reason of why I kept putting it off was completely invalid. For starters going into this film I clearly, doubted Ellen Page’s ability as an actress to go completely off the rails in this film. Being that Hard Candy is a psychological thriller and that I’ve only seen a limited body of work from Page in 3 other films (Inception, X-Men The Last Stand, and Days of Future Past). Of which she obviously was not casted to play as menacing of a character like Hayley Stark in this film.
I really don’t want to talk about the premise of this movie being that I feel that Hard Candy is

There were plenty of times during this film where I found myself either squirming in my chair or cringing in agony during various scenes of the movie. Additionally the effective use of confined spaces is also very impressive in this film. In the second scene of the film both Hayley and Jeff meet at a diner called Nighthawks. This is indeed an actual homage to the 1942 Thomas Hopper painting. Nighthawks is a painting considered to be a portrayal of urban isolation and loneliness. Similarity, throughout the majority of its runtime Hard Candy depicts these feelings of confinement and entrapment through the cinematography. For instance the camera is used in the diner scene mainly for close ups, mid close ups and extreme close up shots. In return this creates a more claustrophobic and isolated feeling that both of the characters feel later within the
In the article "How Candy Conquered America by Lauren Tarshis" and the article “This Cupcake Is Trying to Hurt You by Kristin Lewis" they both talk about candy and how it became so popular and how it is unhealthy. In the first article it says "They removed the chemical flavorings and colors. Big mistake! Loyal customers were furious. sales dropped 35 percent, and the company decided to return to the original formula." (Tarshis 25). In the second article it says "New studies have linked high-sugar diets to a host of other terrifying diseases too--Diabetes, cancer, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and stroke. Sugar may also contribute to depression, tiredness, and learning and memory issues (not so great on the day of a big test).”

Nowadays, it seems as if you can find sugar anywhere and everywhere. You can go to the grocery store and there will be shelves upon shelves of candy bars. Not only are they plentiful, but they’re also cheap. It appears that every sugary food item is extremely affordable, and healthy foods are expensive. Well, it hasn’t always been that way. Sugar used to be expensive and difficult for many to afford. Candies and other sugar-packed foods were scarce and tasted horrible. But how has that affected how much we eat?
The author of the essay “High-School Confidential: Notes on Teen Movies,” David Denby, purpose was to explain the stereotypical high school movie genre. Most teen movies follow certain criteria that some may feel has little reflection on what high school is truly like while others may feel these movies are exactly what high school is like. In typical teen movies, there are usually the cool kids, the popular cheerleader with the jock boyfriend, and that outsider nerd or outcast. Where that cool kids control the playground and the outcast just try to fit in and be part of the cool clique or stay as far away as possible and avoid humiliation. The film “Easy A" proves to follow this exact pattern that Denby speaks of, just as stereotypical as any other teen film.
If I were a halloween candy I would be Candy Corn. I am Candy Corn because you either love me or hate me. Candy Corn is not one of the most liked candies and I am not one of the most liked people. Most hate me while others love me. Some people find me annoying, weird, gross, etc. which is the same thing for Candy Corn. Some people think Candy Corn is overused and because gross and weird after a while, which is also the case for me. Most people don’t even give Candy Corn a chance to see if it’s good or not. People judge me like they judge the candy.

For over one hundred years, there has been only one company that has been on top of the candy industry in North America; Hershey. With over 14,000 employees, serving 70 countries worldwide and net sales of $6.6 billon, Hershey has come out on top. The Hershey company began in 1894 by Milton Hershey. The company has over 8 factories, but their main headquarters resides in Pennsylvania. I am sure we have all seen or heard about taffy. What I would think would come to mind to most people when I would say something regarding taffy might be something concerning saltwater taffy. I love saltwater taffy. It seems that it is not in great supply around here. The only place I know of is somewhere like the cracker barrel. Needless to say I never go to cracker barrel, and it is a little more than I feel comfortable spending on candy. So I find myself resorting to a childhood favorite, laffy taffy. It is sold everywhere, and it is very inexpensive. I really started to like it when I played baseball as a kid. After the game I would always try to pump mom or dad for a few cents to stock up. It never made it home. I would somehow eat my entire entire stockpile. Whoever came up with the idea of putting jokes inside the wrapper is a very rich man. I could not help but to try to unwrap one more. The way the jokes where printed on the wrapper was very smart too. They would put one joke half way on the wrapper so it made me want to know the end of the joke, genius really.
Rock candy is a simple scientific experiment made at home from sugar and water. Rock candy can be made up of different types of sugar. I used pure cane granulated sugar. Rock candy is formed when sugar is dissolved in boiling water and is cooled and placed in a glass jar with the wooden skewer. When the water evaporates the sugar crystal will start to grow overtime. The water and sugar is a saturated solution, meaning that water could only hold sugar if both were very hot. By cooling the water, the sugar comes out of the solution and forms crystals on the skewer and around the glass. The hypothesis for my experiment was that the more sugar you use the more crystals will form. My question is if you add more sugar, will more crystals?
