A. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT / COMPANY
"Hap Chan is a showcase of the superior food quality and friendly neighborhood service of the authentic Hong Kong tea house."
Hap is the Chinese word for “to put together or bundle in one group.” Chan is Chinese for “place”. Hap Chan has come to be “the right place” for gathering the family, the clan. Whether we are referring to relatives or officemates – the extended family—of every nationality—is always welcome at Hap Chan.
Starting out in 1997 as a small tea house in Manila, and serving only the Filipino-Chinese favorite’s mami, lugao and dimsum, Hap Chan began franchising its restaurant chain in 1999 through Hap Chan Trading & Management Corporation. Hap Chan Tea House

FRANCHISING-Hap Chan—yes, that restaurant that spelled its name in several different ways—is getting its act together. Chinese cuisine has been part and parcel of Filipino cooking since the first Chinese immigrants arrived in the country. And while Chinese-style food can be cooked at home or bought anywhere, people still search for authenticity. A popular restaurant offering authentic Chinese cuisine is Hap Chan, founded in 1997 by chef Kwok Man Wah, himself a Chinese immigrant to the Philippines. Known for employing Hong Kong chefs, Hap Chan tried to satisfy the growing demand for Chinese food by aggressively expanding through franchising. “The old management started franchising back in 1997 but was quite hesitant to go full-blown, and they lacked funding. So when we took over in 2009, we created, innovated a franchising system that is more acceptable,” says John Sy, franchisee-turned-president of Hap Chan Trading and Management. Alongside the new system comes the development of three restaurant categories: tea house with 20 items and 98-peso rice meals; restaurant, a bigger version of the tea house serving complete meals; and seafood restaurant,
The only thing I can find was a men name Li Hung Chang who had influenced the making of chop suey. I chose this because as I said before I love food and it still fascinates of how we went from eating with hands to putting food on a plate to putting in can. At the time it was first sold in America, a new act was pass it was called the Chinese Exclusion Act, which stopped newly immigrants from coming. During the time people were afraid that the Chinese were going to overpopulate American do to the mass amount of migration from Asia, what’s surprising is that even when they are afraid that the Chinese were going to overpopulate the area they are still eating Chinese food. The chop suey in a can shows how American has accepted Chinese

After eating at two different Chinese restaurant with the same delicious mouth watering food, I have came to realize that there are many contributing factors that makes each of these restaurants different in their own ways. In determining which restaurant is the best for you, there are some major factors that can alter your decision as we take into consideration the pros and cons of each based on your personal necessity. Many people who eat out would really consider things such as if the food tastes good, the cost, a friendly environment, and good service. The most important thing to always remember is if the restaurant is suitable for you. Although some similarities do exist between P.F Changes and Pei Wei, there is many more difference
The fact that someone who had sampled the authentic food and culture was recommending this place to eat here and now in good ole Westmont really should have rang a bell as to what we were about to experience. Nevertheless, my friend and I went in blissfully unaware of what would be coming next. Now to be perfectly honest, this was not my first time eating Chinese food. However, this was my first time eating authentic Chinese food made in the traditional fashion. It might as well have been my very first time eating any kind of food. After eating at the International Mall, every other Chinese dish I had ever tasted during my entire life’s existence now resembled two day old, ice cold Panda Express from an oasis over an interstate under construction! I mean there was absolutely no comparing the two fairly. One was a sublime culinary adventure and the other was akin to eating in a middle school cafeteria. We ordered salty, crispy, garlic shrimp and sesame chicken as instructed, from the Chinese place. The Chinese place is but one of many different options at the International Mall. All of the eateries are set in a modest food court style

Houston Americans largely consider Chinese food to be their favorite kind of food. Chinese food is also much more difficult to cook than other cuisines because it takes people more time to cook and prep the ingredients; as such, Americans prefer to dine out to enjoy Chinese food that has been cooked by other people. Eric Sandler (2014) described one of his favorite Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, which is called the Banana Leaf: “Standout dishes include roti canai,… Hainanese chicken, but, with more
