The King of Country Music Hank Williams should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because he changed the face of country music at a young age, he is one of the most iconic country artists in history, and has many songs that are timeless; a lot of which are about relationship problems that he had. Hiram “Hank” Williams was born in September 17th, 1923 in Mount Olive, Alabama with a spinal problem called spina bifida; causing him to start drinking alcohol and taking drugs to relieve the pain when he’s older. Hank Williams’ parents are Lon and Lillie Williams. His father was a logger and entered the Veterans Administration hospital when Hank was six, he didn’t see his father much over

It made it in the top five and helped him earn his way to the Louisiana Hayride radio show. “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” was released in 1949 and has been covered by many other artists like Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Ray Charles. When Elvis sang it, he introduced it by saying “I’d like to sing a song that’s… probably the saddest song I’ve ever heard.” Hank’s most known song though is possibly “Hey, Good Lookin”, it was a hit and made it to the number one spot at the top of the charts in 1951. It has been sung by artists like Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett (“Top 10 Hank Williams Songs”). These songs show how Hank Williams’ relationships with his family went due to his 1st wife and mother practically fighting for his attention, he had an abundant source for the bases of his songs because a lot of them had to do with relationship …show more content…
He had a child with Audrey named Hank Williams Jr. in 1949, Hank Williams Jr. is a country artist today. He also had a child with Billie named Jett Williams in 1953. Some reasons that Hank had so many relationship problems was because he was drunk a lot of the time, he misused drugs because of his spinal condition, and he was rarely home because he was at his shows or at a bar performing (“Hank Williams Bio/ Hank Williams Career”). Even with the lifestyle that he had, he maintained a fairly loyal following; despite being either drunk when he showed up to his concerts or not showing up at all. The people loved his songs and his
Strait says that his father, John, help him keep his faith through the rough times and that he would not be the man he is today without him (West). Having a famous uncle can be tricky because either no one believes it is true or they ask if he gives special treatment. The truth is I have never met him before, he has let the feud with part of his family get in the way of meeting the rest of them, maybe it will happen one day. It is still pretty cool to be related to a famous person, my mother says that George and I share the talent of music. He is one of the biggest country stars in America. Known as the “King of Country”, George has sold more than 65 million albums with nearly 50 number 1 hits and has performed in front of 104,000 plus people
Even though Hank was pushed/encourages to become a country music performer, he enjoys what he does. In result, he is one of the most well known “rock” country singer. He has several top hits and many awards. Some awards include 4 emmys, 10 #1 singles, 13 #1 albums, 20 gold albums, and 6 platinums. Also, he won a grammy award for best album/track “There’s a tear in My Beer”, which was released in 2002.
One of my daddy's favorite songs is "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" by Waylon Jennings
Throughout time there have been multiple bands that have shaped the way we hear music today, though little is ever talked about prior the British Invasion. Although rarely spoken of, that is truly where the music we know and love today came from. There were many breakout artists previous to The Beatles, who are thought to have invented rock and roll, who were more influential to the sound then The Beatles could have ever hoped to be. One of those groups was Buddy Holly and the Crickets, who helped to change how rock and roll was done by getting the entire band involved. Without Buddy Holly and the Crickets rock and roll may have never become what it truly is today.
Waylon Jennings left a big impact on the country music industry. His journey to fame and meeting Buddy Holly started everything. Buddy Holly gave Waylon Jennings his first hit, resulting in Jennings become an unforgettable country music artist. The Highwaymen was a country supergroup consisting of 4 of the biggest country music artist of that decade. The Highwaymen produced many hits that Waylon was a part of, making his fame rise even more. Waylon Jennings ending of career happened too soon. Waylon played until he didn’t have the health to play anymore.
George Jones started from nothing and made his way to be a country music hall of famer. He is one of the best country music singers of all time. Between car accidents, fighting with his wife’s, money, alcoholism, and drug abuse all almost ended his career many times. George Jones, one of America's greatest country music stars of all time, he had a rough time with his alcohol and drugs, but still found a way to receive the Lifetime Grammy Award.
Hank Williams Jr always knew, even from the beginning, he was going to be just like his late father and be a country music singer.
Country music is a genre that some might absolutely love and some might absolutely hate. It is a style of music that developed in the southern and western U.S. and often contains lyrics relating to the lives of people who live in the country. While there are a lot of different types of country music, a very popular country artist of this time is Eric Church. Church brings a bit of a twist to country music, with really telling us how he feels. Talking about one of his songs in particular, “homeboy” about a lost young man needing to “come on home, boy.”
Both were perfect for our Jeep rides on Galveston’s seawall during the 1990s spring and summers. Johnny Cash is my daddy and father-in-law’s favorite singer of all time. I did not know that Johnny Cash was of the groups What Cash and Tennessee Two. Cash is a wonderful story teller within his songs. I had not realized that he was born in Arkansas. He worked the cotton fields just as my daddy had while he was growing up. While my daddy was hospitalized last year for two weeks, I learned the difference between hoeing and picking cotton. My daddy and Cash have many things in common. They both sold appliances, and they both served our country. I have fond memories of spending time with my children and husband cruising the seawall and all of us belting out the lyrics to “Ring of Fire.”
In George’s background, he faced many challenges beginning with his mother leaving leading up to loosing his daughter. Born on May 18, 1952, George Harvey Strait was welcomed by his mother Doris Couser Strait and father John Byron Strait. His father and brother raised him in Pearsall, Texas when his mother left them and took their sister with her (Dukes). George went to Pearsall High school with his father being a teacher there. Once he graduated he eloped with his high school sweetheart Norma strait (The Famous People). After he eloped, he joined the military and was stationed in Hawaii. He sang in the army inspired band called Rambling Country. When his daughter was 13 George lost her to an accident. George’s background has had many
The most important reason Luke Bryan should be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame is because of his charity work. He has put together millions of concerts and tours for people with special needs. Bryan has donated a great deal of money to children’s hospitals to help buy more supplies and medicine for the patients (Finan). He played in one of Deirk Bently’s concerts and earned money for children’s special needs camp: (Kaylor 1-1). He loves doing charity concerts and performing at children’s hospitals to raise money for them.
Billie was born to the name, Eleanora Fagan on April 7, 1915. She was born in Philadelphia but grew up in the Fell's Point section of Baltimore. Her mother, was just 13 at the time of her birth; her father, was 15. Holidays' teenage parents, Sadie Harris (aka Fagan) and probable father, Clarence Holiday, never married, and they did not live together for a long time. Clarence, a banjo and guitar player worked with Fletcher Henderson's band in the early 30s. He remains a shady figure who left his family. Clarence would often be away from home, and during the stay with Henderson, which lasted until 1932, the guitarist severed connections with the Fagans. Billie was an angry chile who lived a hard life. She was raped at the age of 10 soon
Troyal Garth Brooks (also know as Garth Brooks) is the world’s greatest country singer of all time. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 7, 1962. He was raised in the small town of Yukon with country music in his blood. He was the youngest child in his family that consisted of six children. His Mother, Colleen Carroll, was a Professional country singer while she raised Garth and his five other siblings with her husband, Troyal Carroll. Troyal worked as a engineer for Unocal, an oil company located outside of Oklahoma. (Book, garth brooks) He played guitar and taught Garth how to play. Both of Garths parents were a huge part of making him who he is today. Garth did things that Elvis, and Michael Jackson never even
Johnny Cash achieved many accolades in his long, influential life. Debatably the most noteworthy is how he is one of three artists, Elvis, Hank Williams, and Cash, who is a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Becoming a member of both is not an easy feet for any artist. In order to do so one has to be the very best in each style of music. Cash at 48 became the youngest performer to ever be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame (Danker). Kris Kristofferson put it the best way, “You felt like he should've had his face on Mount Rushmore” ( Kristofferson). This view was really how the American public viewed J.C. He was an American hero on par with Presidents or war heroes. He was given as
George Harvey Strait was born and bred in the Texas cowboy tradition. He came into the world on May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas (“Strait Facts”) and was raised in nearby Pearsall, TX on his family's working cattle ranch, a legacy in the family for over 100 years.
