Currently, Hallington Utilities Services (HUS) is functioning away from the vision of wisdom in the customer service. After reading the case, it displays that HUS has poorly implemented human resources practices. Firstly there has been a complete lack of communication and motivation within the company which has produced a negative impact on it (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.6). Several poor human resources practices have contributed to this impact such as poor training, poor health and safety, inadequate compensation and benefits, and lack of promotion packages.
With proper training, employees can gain an adequate knowledge concerning their field and attain more skills which will be beneficial not only for them but also for the success

Colin Moore who has been employed as mail sorter with HUS for over eight years finds compensation a major concern (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.13). The system within HUS is outdated, and there is the absence of reward programs. There is no proper description of the employees pay rates due to which they are keen to find the job outside (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.13). There are also poor health and safety practices existing in HUS. It has lately seen 17 percent rise in health and safety and 14 percent rise in lost time incidents (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.14). In tally to these pieces of evidence, there have been six frostbite related issues in the past winter (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.16). These events could have been prevented if proper service quality and training had been provided.
