The Halifax Explosion was caused by two ships which both refused to change their course and instead created a disastrous collision that caused the most massive human-made explosion until the Hiroshima and Nagasaki explosions of WWII. To stay out of the attention of the Axis powers, the SS Mont-Blanc had not put up its red flag warning of the explosive cargo it was carrying. Because of this, many people in Halifax had no idea what the Mont Blanc was carrying and the imminent danger that would occur if the Imo and the Mont Blanc collided. As for American variant we must say that it has been very thoroughly described by many prominent scholars both in the UK and in the USA. In this research work, however, we try to follow the conception introduced by A.D. Shweitzer (1195) in his sociolinguistic approach to the treatment of contemporary speech situation in America.
