I have always been fascinated by human anatomy and physiology. I am mainly interested in understanding methods of diagnosing problems, examining the problems and treating them. This is why I hope to study Biomedical Science at university becauseI believe it would open many opportunities for me to explore science in a more depth and increase my knowledge and understanding, eventually pursuing a career in haematology. I want to study blood and blood-forming tissues in greater depth and I feel that haematology is a great career for me because I enjoy working in a team, have an eye for detail and am passionate about science. Ever since I was young I was more interested in playing with toy doctor setsthan with dolls. My passion for science has …show more content…
During the course I have studied physiology of human regulation and reproduction, principles and application of science, practical scientific procedures and techniques, science investigation skills and laboratory techniques and their applications. Studying Applied Science has also helped me with my communication, teamwork, time management, and organisational skills. My favourite involved studying the impact of disorders on the physiology of the lymphatic system and the associated corrective treatments. This unit gave me an insight into working as a haematologist as I had to create a patient report on what the problem was, what caused it and what corrective treatments I used. The unit that really interested me in Biomedical Science are genetics and molecular biology, tissue pathologyand cell biology because it would require me to working in the laboratory at all time and use all the high tech equipment’s. I believe that I’m a great candidate for this course because I am so keen to learn more about biomedical science and applied all the skills that I have gained from my pervious science course. I also have determination, and a desire to become successful in university and
My academic and research experience at University of Washington helped me realize the importance of health science and that I am suitable to study biomedical sciences. UW is well known for its rigorous health science programs and biology related courses. However, my resolve to do well does not falter a bit when I am challenged with the demanding coursework. Rather than being daunted by the challenge, I feel compelled to expose myself to the vast knowledge of the biology due to curiosity and passion. I thank UW for the hardship because it makes me more determined to go into biomedical sciences.
Courses I have taken that are relevant to my career interests are biology, chemistry, Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, Medical Interventions, advanced genetics and applied biotechnology, and physiology. Biology and chemistry have provided me with a basic science background that is essential to understanding more advanced science courses. Human Body Systems and physiology have helped me to learn basic anatomy and physiology through hands-on activities like constructing organ systems out of clay and dissecting a cat. In addition, I learned how basic biomedical science knowledge and research methods in Principles of Biomedical Science and continued this
I have always had an interest in the human body and animal anatomy. I've studied it on my own with coloring books, online programs and thru home dissection kits. It is fascinating to learn the numerous ways our bodies function. I completed an anatomy and physiology course through our home school coop. I learned a lot of important information that will help me advance in my education and career.
Currently, I am in the process of earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a pre-medical emphasis from Grand Canyon University. Upon graduation, I hope to attend either a medical or physician assistant school. My specific goal in the medical field is still up in the air, however, I am avidly exploring the fields of pathology, oncology, emergency medicine, and surgery. My interest in the medical field was sparked by my human anatomy and physiology class during my senior year of high school. Put simply, my life in high school was rough, and I was completely lost, as far as my career decisions were concerned. I enrolled in a human anatomy course, to fill a hole in my schedule during my senior
Biomed Academy at my high school will be the most contributing factor to attain my goal. This academy has changed my perspective about medicine career. I have gained tons of knowledge from BioMed academy in these high school years. This will help me to attain my goal, because the knowledge gained from this academy will help me to be a successful medical professional. The principle of Health Science, Health Science, CNA, psychology, Biology, and anatomy and physiology are classes that prepared me to be an eligible Pre-Med applicant. I have learned from the basic structures of the body to the complex structure of the body, and from classroom to hands-on experience at the rehabilitation center. These years in BioMed Academy will help me to attain
physiology, and so much more. It is a very competitve program that requires students to maintain a high GPA and outstansding grades in certian subjects.
The human body is an amazing machine; one that works efficiently in spite of the many intricate functions it processes every second. Because of its complexity, research is still very new and exciting especially with the brain, and I want to be a part of it. Biomedicine is the ideal course for me as I have an interest for human biology and it allows me to have the flexibility to experience different modules before specialising.
Since childhood, I had a deep interest for the Health and Biological Sciences. My growing interest to learn about the life and living things helps me to obtain an in-depth understanding and the important contribution that a doctor makes to a society gets attracted me. It was from that point my interest in health sciences arose. I became more interested in knowing why a certain patient had got the disease, how it was spreading and what can be done to prevent the next person from getting the disease. This specialized knowledge in areas
As a senior in highschool, one of my future goals is to become either a doctor or an administrator in health sciences. As long as I can remember, I had a fascination with animal documentaries when Animal Planet was very popular. However, then in high school, I was introduced to the Human Body, and it fascinated more than ever. I want to become a doctor because I have the drive to save other people’s lives.
My interest in this program will help to expand my knowledge and skills needed in my future career. Applying to biomedical science program will fulfill my interests in biology and medicine through research, knowledge, and the transition to a successful career.
I found a great environment for learning at my medical school in presence of my hard working class fellows and worthy teachers. At my medical school, I loved Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry, but the subject I enjoyed the most turned out to be my beloved Pathology. Study of human body and its diseases ranging from molecular to gross levels made Pathology most interesting and satisfying for me. It always provided me the answers of why, what and how. Exploring the tiny and microscopic detail of everything seemed like a world for me.
If enrolled in the ATC Health Science Program, I desire to be knowledgeable and successful in a medical setting. After being in this course, I would love to strengthen my passion for medicine and possess a true understanding about patient care. I aspire to learn basic levels of diagnosis; learning symptoms and recognizing them in patients. Furthermore, the rotations of observing patient treatment helps set up a basic level of medical knowledge to the students. This would also increase the knowledge of a professional bedside manner, helping patients feel more comfortable in the hospital. The ATC Health Science Program would help me to become proficient in prescribing treatment after correct diagnosis. From this course I also hope to learn
I am a pre-medical student and my major is biological and physical sciences. My interest in science originated in medical school was for two reasons. The first reason
My introduction to science was at a young age. My mom had taken me to the lab facility where she worked, the lab was brightly lit and there was a noticeable amount of equipment I had never seen before. I was very curious to learn about it. There, my mom showed me the basics of the work she did, which gave me an overall interest in science. The scientific field of pathology offers an innumerable amount to learn and discover about diseases, I have realized that I would like a career that keeps me curious and motivated to learn and investigation of diseases does so.
Medicine and research changing frequently, which leads to the opportunity to become a lifelong learner in my potential career. I enjoys studying technical processes and information and will never tire of learning new things; for me, academia and facing a field that relies so heavily on research will never fail to evoke curiosity and enthusiasm. To me, the most challenging subjects have always been the most interesting ones, and I strive to conquer and succeed with these subjects. The laboratory industry, with its constantly evolving technology and methods, will always be changing and I am equipped with the desire and skill to excel in such a rapid environment. While taking Introduction to Clinical Laboratory Science class we explored all the vast options for a clinical lab major, and in all of the different applications I see nothing but opportunities. With a Clinical Lab major, there is a world of
