To discuss the notion of Places and Forms of Power, I'm going to present the situation of Gun Control in the USA.
Indeed, when we think of power, the influence of weapons in the USA plays a major part in the society. Gun violence is becoming more and more of an issue in the US. It has become more apparent with mass shootings such as the Sandy Hook elementary school mass shooting that happened in 2012.
Why is there so much gun violence in the US compared to the rest of the world? Why can’t the US set up a real gun control legislation?
First of all, we will analyze the situation of gun violence in the US. Then, we will put forward the problem related to gun
Gun violence is very prominent in the United States. It has been for quite some time. There are several problems with how people are accessing firearms, and the type of firearms they are buying. People are accessing firearms way to easy nowadays. Some of these firearms are stolen or illegal. We need to somehow crack down on firearms and how these men and women are accessing them so easily. According to BBC, “Some 13,286 people were killed in the US by firearms in 2015, and 26,819 people were injured. These figure exclude suicides.” They also stated “There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870, according to the Mass Shooting Tracker, which catalogues such incidents. A mass shooting is defined as a single shooting incident which kills or injures four or more people, including the assailant.” These numbers are outrageous and something needs to be done.
I dont really remember what I told you my topic was for my research paper. So, if it is not what I think it is which is the trying to lower gun violence in America I would like to change it because lately I've been doing research on gun violence in America and I just noticed how big of a problem it was. There is a shooting almost everyday and in many of them at least one person dies. I think that if your family and or loved ones have had history of mental illness there should be a test given to evaluate their psych. And if there is no history there still should be other measures taken. Also there should give gun control classes and what it really means to take a life once you pull the trigger there is no going back. When people leave in the
Gun control is a topic that has created many discussions in the story to those who can carry them or not since the US is one of the countries where access to all individuals is allowed without the due restrictions. Because of this, every day is more devastating when we hear about a massacre. Unfortunately, America has become in a little time in the country that leads the list of countries where more violent success occurred due to what is happening to our society. America 's gun problem is completely unique. First place in gun violence worldwide. It occupies the sixth place in gun homicide. The US by far the highest number of privately-owned guns in the world despite being a minority. Guns grow in an incredible way that goes from domestic
When the data on gun related crime and incidents is properly analyzed, it becomes very obvious that the gun, in and of itself, is not one of the roots of the problems that plague modern society. The failure of the anti-gun advocates to recognize that vast corpus of contrary scholarship reflects that fact that the " Great American Gun War is really a culture conflict.
As our country let’s people of all kind have a gun people are going to keep getting hurt all over the country. Firstly, 30,000 people are dying each year because of gun violence everywhere (“Should More Gun…”). This is crazy people are going wild and killing people some are for reasons and some are not but 30,000 people should not be dying because of someone not being able to control theirself with a gun. Therefore, there has been 32 gun murders and 90 gun deaths in communities or homes everyday (“Should More Gun…”). That is 122 deaths for no reason there needs to be some type of gun rule for crazy people. In addition, there were 70 people shot in a movie theater then just soon after 20 first graders were hurt with an assault rifle in a elementary
This article states the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and how it lists the United States as the country with the highest rate of firearm violence among modern communities. On average, about 33,000 people are killed by gun violence each year. On an average day 96 Americans are killed with guns, there are nearly 13,000 gun homicides a year in the United States, 50 women are shot to death by their intimate partners and for every one person killed with guns, two more are injured. Black people are 10 times more likely to be killed by guns than any other race. The impact of gender and age says that 87% of gun deaths occurred in boys and 13% occured in girls. Boys were seven times more likely to be killed by guns than girls,
The gun problem in America takes root in our very own foundations. And so, this issue will only rise and drastically increase homicide and suicide rates. Virtually, this issue cannot be deterred completely as it is “the right of the people to keep and bear arms” (Second Amendment: Cornell.edu).Therefore, this cannot be completely disbanded due to this being an amendment protected by the constitution. Secondly, this will only keep the gun violence in a rise as most households feel that it is safer to keep a firearm at home.
In the United States, over the past few decades, gun violence has increased massively, leading to over 10,000 gun-related incidents in 2015. The main cause of the massive amount of violence in the United States in recent decades is mainly because people who are in danger have no means to protect themselves. This is why guns should be more accessible for citizens, so that they can protect themselves in dangerous situations. Allowing citizens to conceal weapons would heavily decrease the amount of incidents that occur because innocent people were unable to protect themselves. Also, putting less control on guns would prevent crimes from even happening in the first place. If a criminal had intentions of committing a crime, they would be much less willing if they knew that they might possibly get shot trying to commit that crime. Thus, criminal activity and violent crimes will cease to continue at such high rates and more people will have the ability to protect themselves in dangerous situations.
According to CNN, “close to 33,000 Americans were victims of gun-related deaths in 2011 and an average of 268 citizens are shot every day”. Thousands of children and women are the victim of gun violence. Gun violence in the United States is increasing as each year passes by. Most of the time, poor people or low class people are the victim of gun violence. In the United States, by the law, a license is required to have a gun, but law informant agencies are failing to do that. Some people are carrying guns without a license, and use them to commit crimes, such as robberies and murdering innocent people. Some people argue that guns should be limited to only police officers and military, and citizens should not be allowed to carry guns. They
The increasing rate of gun violence in the United States is reached an all time high. For years, America has seen one of the highest rates of shooting deaths among nations all around the globe. But it seems an old problem, which has only continue to grow in magnitude throughout the years, is reaching a critical limit. What should be done about gun violence? What is, or should be, the role of government in addressing it? I would argue that tougher background checks for any American who wants a gun—which includes Americans who want to enlisting in policing or armed services—are indispensible. Granted, while there are benefits to this approach, there are also limitations to what it remedies. Let’s consider these further, starting with the
I picked the topic, gun violence. Gun violence has shocked this nation has a rollercoaster. Having guns in our society has also caused many deaths around the world over something senseless. Nevertheless, there is always a debate about gun control, but there is no current move about this topic. Gun violence happens daily because people can get various access to it without background test, drug screening etc. Eventually, it has to change. The second Amendment is another controversy because it dates back before our time. Many Americans believe that taking their guns away is taking away their freedom. Is gun ownership the cause of gun violence?
Gun violence is a very serious and complex issue. This issue has been taking place for many years all over the United States. Gun violence has no real prevention and no simple way of being stopped. Every single day more than one person's life is taken by a gun. Some of these deaths are caused by senseless acts of violence while others occur by accident. Gun violence is one of the main causes of death in America, some say guns are used for protection but others use guns for their own negative agenda.
This country was founded on the right to bear arms ,and the freedom to bear arms is overlooked. With all the killings and school shooting leading to gun violence, most Americans seem to believe if the government takes all the guns away the gun violence would end.
The issue of guns is one of the most prominent social problems in the United States, and every time after the shooting incident, the voice of gun control became to rise and the debate of banning guns emerge again. What People can do is only to offer their condolences, griefs and protests for gun violence, and stand for moments of silence. People still don’t have any law of gun control in return even if in the face of these bloody statistics. Because this issue is not just a simple social problem, and this issue has evolved into an intricate issue and many factors are intertwined, such as cultural tradition, value concept, legal rights, party politics and interest groups. I argue that the gun control movement will continue to develop,
Why American people cannot stop their gun criminals? Nowadays, a lot of tragic gun shootings are happening in the US. For example, a gunman killed 58 people and 546 people injured by indiscriminate gun shooting on the Las Vegas in october 2017. In addition, a gunman killed 25 church members, including unborn child on the Texas in November 2017. These tragic cases are just part of gun shooting case in the US history. However, US government and most American people do not decide to do gun control.
