Verna Keesbury and Diane Willis are in charge of food operations for our K-12 school located in Montpelier, OH. Serving over 1,000 meals a day is not only challenging but rewarding to these women as well. Verna's kitchen staff starts serving meals at 10:30 a.m. and ends with the last high school lunch at 1:00 p.m. The greatest addition to Montpelier Schools' Lunch Program has been the School Dinning System Portal. Students enter their lunch number quickly and efficiently and RevTrack allows parents to track spending and eating habits. Parents are also able to pay lunch fees on-line.
Meals and snacks are part of the overall learning experience. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are served daily. Meal times are as follows: a.m. snack between 8:30 and 9:00; lunch between 11:30 and 12:00; p.m. snack about 3:00 PM-3:30 PM. Menus are posted weekly. Meals are served family style in the classrooms. Children’s nutritional needs are met with foods provided by the Center. We ask that families not send food with their children, except under special circumstances when they have made arrangements with the director and the teacher(s).
We should be allowed to chew gum in class. There are at least three reasons as to why we should be allowed to chew gum in class. The first reason is that it can help some students focus. The second reason is it helps refresh the brain. The third and final reason is because not all students will stick it under their desks and wherever they please.
Some of my fellow students at Conroe High School don’t eat lunch in the cafeteria. For instance,I eat lunch everyday in the agricultural shop all the way behind the rotunda at our school, and my fifth period is in the main building upstairs. Because of this, sometimes I have to leave lunch early and don’t get to finish it only to be able to make it back without getting a tardy. Another example would be, the kids that eat in the Music Hall of our school or even a science classroom, and we don’t know exactly when the teachers release from the cafeteria. They get a referral because they were tardy too
The process to achieve open campus lunch benefits would involve security attendance, extension of lunch periods and student records. The students will have to go through a process to be able to continue the privilege of having open campus lunch throughout the year. The researcher will conduct a proposal to meet and talk with the Board of Education on behalf of student rights and lunch reform policy for the need of student involvement. The meeting is to consider if off campus lunch would be eligible to community high schools for productive upper class students. (Open campus, mountainvistaonline.org). Therefore, students could have a complete understanding of conduct regarding the educational rules and regulations that applies with an open campus policy. For instance, an explanation of proper designated times for lunch and departure from school grounds. An example would be the consequences of violation of policy from a student’s actions. Consequences would include a student receiving a disciplinary referral, suspension or expulsion depending on how severe the offense is. (U.S. Department of education “FERPA General Guidance for students” www2.ed.gov).
To begin, the high school principles and the school district can put restrictions on who’s allowed to leave the campus for lunch. The student’s parents make the ultimate decision of whether they will allow their child to go off-campus for lunch. In order for students to go off-campus, they will need to have a written consent slip filled out by their parents and handed in to the office, as well as a pass
Not only do both of the reasons above prove and show great examples of why or why not schools really should or shouldn't let school cafeterias be transformed into fast food courts supplied by fast food companies, in the end it's the school's themselves who make the choices to change the foods that they supply. Therefore here are three examples at which they can use to see if there school is even ready to make the leap toward fast food companies supplying lunches. First the school will need to be sure students can afford the lunches, second make sure the school can afford it as well, and thirdly the schools will need to have make sure the students are willing to go along with it. Although there is several more steps in which changing to a fast
GUM CHEWING IS AGAINST THE RULES AT GREENBRIER MIDDLE SCHOOL. The reason I am copying this paragraph is because I was chewing gum in class. Gum chewing is not allowed in school for the following reasons:
Argumentative Writing Do you like your school lunches? Schools should offer healthy lunches to the students. The reasons why schools should offer healthy lunches because before the school lunches got healthy food the school lunches were so unhealthy and kids were eating too many calories, the unhealthy food does not meet the Healthy, hunger-Free Kids Act, and with unhealthy school lunches that can lead to obesity in the children.
Public schools attempt to provide a healthy school lunch with money provided from the federal government. The federal government provides a little over $3 per student (Siegel). Districts are generally left to pay the bills that maintain the cafeteria which reduce the amount of money that the school has to fund the lunches (Siegel). School lunches may have links to obesity, which leads to the question what type of food are our children eating at school, and what type of effects are caused from school lunches. Going into research has opened my eyes to realize that school lunches are not always the best but it helps to feed the students who are not able to be provided a lunch from home.
Marc F. Bernstein’s comment in The Sunday Review portion of The New York Times states that there are “a large number of highly under scheduled high school seniors.” Bernstein implies that the last year of high school for some students is a waste of time. Even though most seniors may be under scheduled by having multiple lunches or only two or three classes, being a senior is more about the classes you take. Most of the students that only have three classes most likely have duel enrolment classes in addition to their high school courses. Not only are they getting credits for college and high school, they are also getting free college classes and books. Even though these students are under scheduled they have an advantage to take college classes and or go to work during the time that they are not at high school. Only having two or three classes in a day could be used as an advantage to many students. I myself, a senior at Pace High School, only have three classes then I can leave. I get out of school at twelve every day. During this time that I am not at school I am taking two duel enrolment classes, working twice a week, finishing homework, and helping
Everyone loves sugar filled snacks, especially children. A kid’s day can be made so much better just by handing them their favorite candy bar. This is something students looked forward to during their school day. Sadly, this was made to change. Schools started banning snacks, and drinks based on their unhealthy effect they have on individuals. According to Beverly Ballaro and Ann Griswold in "Junk Food in Schools: An Overview,” this change occurred when Michelle Obama launched her project for healthy eating in 2010. Let’s Move! Was her way to fix child obesity in America. This directed schools to feed children healthier options, and twice as many vegetables or fruit. This was not a necessity for public schools across the United States. Students should not be limited to what they eat in school. As long as they are being fed their basic lunch, it should not be important what they decide to snack on.
Have you ever taken a bit in your school lunch and just want to spit it all back out? Or how about the little portions you get? These types of school lunches should not be allowed to be given to the students because there are many reasons why school lunches are bad for health reasons. Although the school lunches are supposed to be healthier and better for our well-being, school lunches should change because it’s not very appetizing, there are little portions, and there isn’t any difference in the health level before.
Food Service will honor a designated student meal pass that is issued to new students on their first day of school. The designated student meal pass can be used for the acquisition of a "reimbursable meal" during the lunch period from the date of issue only.
I want to show people that eating healthy is not just for their own health but it makes a difference for others as well. I want to start with convincing the school administrator to see that the students should start eating healthy in school. This will make sure we can start on this with baby steps, so that the people would not be pressured on doing this. This could be a way to start slowly so people could adjust with eating healthy food. The people might think that i’m doing a bad thing, of wanting to make students start eating healthy food at school but, soon they will realized that me making them eat healthy is a good thing. We don’t even know how our own food is being processed and yet we still eat it. The school administrator can help me solve this problem because they are in charge of what the students could eat in school and what kind of food to get for school lunches. I plan that the audience see how kids in the school are mostly eating unhealthy. This will make them see why eating unhealthy food should be should be stopped.
