In northwest Spain, bombs were dropped on Guernica, a small Basque market town by the German air force. This caused the Spanish Civil war from 1936 to 1939. The bombing lasted three and a half hours killing hundreds of people. While in Paris, news of the bombing in his country reached Pablo Picasso and he was devastated. This event became an inspiration to him to paint a huge mural that was called Guernica, and becomes the most memorable anti war image in the twentieth century.
The piece constitutes a universal indictment of war without including objects that are directly associated with modern warfare by showing an abstract of different objects that portray the individuals that were bombed. In the left of the image is a bull; in Spain bullfighting
Most of his creations represent history and society of his time. But “Guernica,” which Picasso painted in response to tragedy and the loss of life, directly related to the Spanish civil-war. “Guernica” was one of the masterpieces created by Picasso, probably the 20th century 's most negative symbol of the horrors. It was a also signal for the terrors of the future. When the Nazi troops dropped a bomb on the Basque village of Guernica in northern Spain, at that time nobody imagined this kind of act in reality. In 1936 the Spanish government commissioned Picasso to paint a feature piece for their international exposition in Paris at the peak of World War II. Picasso was unsure of what to paint until in 1937 when Nazi warplanes bombed the Spanish town of

The painting “Guernica”, a black and white oil painting depicts the chaos that ensued World War II. It was painted by Pablo Picasso in his sharp, shaped style. At first glance, you notice an overwhelming amount of shapes, when looking closer those shapes become faces of despair and distress, which as one could imagine that is what the people of Spain were feeling prior to the bombing that inspired this painting. With odd shapes, and a large, chaos filled canvass, it defiantly puts on display its uncanny ability to attract the viewer into digging into the deeper meaning of this intriguing master piece.

Imagine a world that would full of people to their full potential, one where everyone is the best they could possibly be. This world would be unreal, a different place, but would that be a better ideal world? In my mind no. I do not think we should have genetic engineering in this century. However, in the future, I see genetic engineering as a possible way of life like it was used in the movie Gattaca. Personally I wouldn’t take part in it because it could and would lead to problems such as social ramifications and that there is no guarantee the outcome will not have side effects as seen in Gattaca.
In 1937, Pablo Picasso painted Guernica, oil on canvas. The Republican Spanish government commissioned the mural for the 1937 World Fair in Paris. Guernica is a large mural, twenty-six feet wide and eleven feet tall, and was placed at the entrance to Spain’s pavilion. Picasso did not do any work after receiving the commission until reading of the bombing of the Basque village of Guernica, in Spain. It was that attack, perpetrated by the German Luftwaffe, that inspired him. Guernica, however, is not a complete depiction of that event. In Guernica, Picasso masterfully conveys the suffering of the Basque people and the tragedy of war. He seeks not to report on every detail of the bombing, but only to

This can go either way as cannibalism and eating the human species or even finding foods in nature as plants. In chapter 10 of “Stiff” by Mary Roach titled “Eat Me” she claims that citizens should donate their bodies to science for a better basic advancement in science based on the human body in the area of cannibalism.
It was a partially sunny day at the rowdy Six Flags park, I was with friends and family. Throughout the car ride all anyone could talk about was how they were going to ride the horrific Goliath. Goliath is a roller coaster at Six Flags that I personally think is terrifying. When we got there had talked to one of the people at the entrance and we mentioned they we were going to go on Goliath. She had said “ I went on there once it was horrible never again”. Me being the little chicken I am I said “ Forget this I'm not going”! Everyone looked at me kinda like they were disappointed, My brother said “ Come on you gotta do this it's not even that scary”. So then I said “ Fine I’ll go”. Well that was a mistake. Walked over to the ride

The painting itself measures 11ftx 26.5ft. “Guernica” depicts the bombing of the Spanish town of Guernica during the Spanish civil war. The painting is also colorless it only uses black, white and, gray.
