Group Project Reflection Paper

Have you ever wondered what got the Beatles or ACDC so far in their career? They were in a group and that benefited them in multiple ways just like group projects benefit us in the classroom. I think that having group projects benefits us and our whole entire learning atmosphere in a positive way. Group project and activities benefit us by giving a more positive and less tense environment for learning, they help us learn social skills when we work together with other people in our groups and finally group projects let us take enjoyment in what we are doing our project on and we can have a better experience while participating in this project. I like group projects and I think we should have more of them in and out of the classroom.

During this group session, the patients were asked to identify common relapse triggers and verbalize ways in which they can avoid their triggers. The patients were provided with a handout on triggers and educated on alternative methods to avoid their triggers.The patient was oriented x 3. The patient reported that feelings of depression and being bored has caused him in the past to relapse. He shared that he is ready to be clean and is aware of his triggers. This EER period is out of the normal cycle due to my crossing the threshold for Tenure. I am truly excited that the Department is reviewing me for this honor. Mission Sierra Leone has given me the tools that I will need to succeed in the Service and I am grateful to both the Department and the Mission for the opportunity to begin here. During this abbreviated cycle, my team and I have worked very hard on many challenging projects over an unprecedented transfer season that exchanged 80% of the Department of State (DOS) personnel at post. To facilitate this season my team and I planned far in advance and were able to not only make smooth transitions but also make significant upgrades to our infrastructure with minimal disruption to customers.

Technology has changed jobs in an organization where I have worked because everything is computerized. I work at my job where we use computers to chart before and at the end of shift. The nurses use the computer to order medications also those in charge of ordering resident personal things as well. We also, use the computer to fill our timesheets and other documentations.

In this forum, will be addressing the important concepts learned about groups. Will be describing my personal experience working with my assigned group for this course. Furthermore, will be addressing the main three concepts learned through the duration of this course. Those concepts are tribulation, integrity, and team.

That is very interesting information regarding AMA’s stance on prior authorizations. My health plan recently implemented that a prior authorization is required, we were one of last health plans to put this in place. Yes, one reason is to reduce over utilization of services, it is also performed for the safety of our members (the patient), and also to help reduce the risk of the member or patient being stuck with a large bill due to the fact that the service may be investigative or not medically necessary. I am sure this process is burdensome to physician’s office and I am sure they have had to work out a new process to reduce any bottlenecks and ineffeciencies. In my undergraduate work, almost all of my classes that were directly related to my major required at the least one group project. In the beginning this was not something I was very fond of mostly because I had some bad experiences when it came to working with others on projects. Usually it was the problem of people not pulling their own weight, and doing their parts to help with the tasks. When it came time to have the assignment complete it was even harder to give a grade to those people. I did not want to be the guy who caused someone to throw someone under the bus. However, after I thought about it, I did want to be that guy because in the real world on a work project if there was someone who did not pull their weight in the job projects would not be successful. So, when it came time for grades, I was always honest, and usually if a person did not do their part I told it how it was.

I felt that my group (Cubs) presentation wasn’t as bad overall, however, there are certain areas where we all could of improved on and benefitted from this greatly. For instance, doing a PowerPoint presentation we could held a clicker. Having a clicker, looks professional because you don’t have to worry about reading your script and having someone stand by the computer in order to click to the next slide. Secondly, I feel that I could have been louder when I was presenting. I sort of can admit to my flaws without dwelling on it as much. When I speak for long periods of time, I tend to get dry mouthed. Meaning my words can come out a bit slurred and forcing the audience to not understand my message. I try to talk slow when I have to present

The executive panel discussion focused on three main themes including resilience, re-invention and reality checks based on the career journeys of 7 panelists. A number of key points arose during the discussion including remaining resilient, the significance of networks and from plan to reality. Particularly, it was consistently agreed that it is important to remain resilient throughout your journey because opportunities will come to those who are prepared. For example, Richard mentioned, life can be a roller coaster but it is crucial to stick to your principle and success will come to you. The adolescent peer group could make great influence on teenagers. For example, one of my junior high school classmates, A, hadn’t like to play basketball. But, the others in my class often played basketball or discussed the ball games. Therefore, he started to learn how to pass, layup, and make a shot. As time went by, he gradually liked to play basketball and watch the ball games. He even spent eight hours taking train from Kaohsiung to Taipei because his favorite NBA player, Kobe Bryant, would visit there on that day. Hands shaking, eyes rolling, flipping through the syllabus, I prepared myself for the group Organized Act of Kindness project. Group projects have always been dreadful for me; in high school, I was almost always the sole effort within the group. Unfortunately, due to my negative past experiences, I had a relatively negative fixed mindset going into the OAK project. Luckily, the other members of my OAK group were productive, friendly, and helpful; their attitudes and efforts helped me change my mind about group projects. By agreeing that we were all going to complete certain tasks and put in a certain amount of effort, we created a productive work environment in which we knew that no single person would be left to do the heavy lifting. Despite some bumps in the road along the way, our OAK project was ultimately a success and left us feeling positive and much closer as friends. Learning about group dynamics in class has opened my eyes and allowed me to realize that the members control how the group functions. My newfound understanding of group dynamics has translated to other aspects of my life, as I now see my role in group efforts in everything that I do.

I personally believe that I work well in-group situations; I have had to work within a group on multiple occasions and have always found it to be a fun and rewarding experience. At school I often have to work in a group environment to complete assignments, I enjoy working this way and I am able to accept my other teammates option and input surrounding the assignment. Another situation that requires teamwork is at my current job, whist working I have to cooperated with my colleagues and accept that there way of competing a task may not be how I would. Despite the above examples I believe that everyone experiences group work on a day to day basis, this could be eating lunch with friends, helping the family clean up after dinner or working within

I will start with the beginning of our group progress. So first day 04/26/18, there were only Eldan, Marni, me and Mike. Some of the students switched their group so that is the reason why were only four, yet some of them were just absent. We talked about what we want to do general and ideas of what we should do. The second day, there were six students. Although Marni did not come to class to show her presence, she was with us in the library third floor. We decided that day that it is best if we divide our parts. We specified our jobs and was clear about what we will do. The third meeting, I was absent but since I knew what was my responsibility, I ended up doing my work at home. Plus, I let them know that I will not make it to our meeting through our group message and told them to let me know if I missed anything important. The next meeting, a lot of students were late but we meet on the third floor again. This time, we changed things a little bit. Plus, we had new group member named Alyssa. She became important group member from that day. Also, we planned to add literary terms and we had one term for each person. Since we were seven students that day, we had seven literary terms. We were thinking if each of us will do our powerpoint until Kahmari volunteered to do the powerpoint himself and we just had to do our parts and send it to him. After the meeting, we all

I have completed the group project the best I could. I did not receive until this morning. I texted her twice yesterday, once in early afternoon and again at 6:30 my time and she stated she was not at home and submit it later. I received a text at 5:30 am Sunday morning stating she was working on it to hold off posting it. I posted what they handed in along with what I completed. I was the only one to cite a reference, and did not have time to redo their part or wait for them to respond. I do hope we have communication as a group for the next assignment. I attended the University of Pittsburgh Student Government Board (SGB) meeting on November 10, 2015, to see first-hand how task oriented groups function. There was a presentation after the SGB meeting about the University Strategic Plan, soliciting suggestions for the implementation phase of the plan.
