Group dynamics are the various behaviours and psychological processes that occur in a group or between groups. It deals with the formation, functioning of groups as well as the roles each individual plays in a group. Group dynamics can be studied and understood from the movie ‘ 12 Angry Men ’. Different concepts regarding group dynamics like influence processes, influence techniques, group development and stages, effect of the environment, backgrounds of the individuals etc. were well portrayed in the film.

Ingratiation- Inducing the target person to like you and change the person’s behaviour in a desired manner is called as ingratiation. Juror No-8 uses this tactic on Juror No-9 and made him feel that his opinion mattered. Juror No-9 tells Juror No-8 that he has the right to be heard and asks him why he thought that the old man would be lying.
Inspirational appeal: This is the tactic in which a person makes an inspirational statement or action to influence the other people. Juror No-9 uses this tactic in the beginning to change some of the jurors who were not sure about their stand. We can infer that Juror No-9 was influenced by No-8, and hence changes his stand when a vote by secret ballot was taken. The old man says, “Well, it’s not easy to stand alone against the ridicule of the others”. He was clearly inspired by his reluctance to go with the group.
Pressure: This tactic was used by the majority of the group. The majority who believed the boy was guilty pressurized the rest of the group and mainly Juror No-8 who was unwilling to vote guilty without critically analysing the
