I liked the short story "Greyling" very much. The story by Jane Yolen was very touching and it was filled with adventure! At the beginning of the story, the fisherman and the fisherman's wife were very lonely and they wanted a baby. While fishing at the sea, the fisherman noticed a abandoned seal. When he took it home, he realized it was a selchie. The selchie could turn from seal to man. The fisherman and his wife kept the baby and raised it as their own. This part of the story made me very happy because hopefully they would't be so lonely anymore and the selchie baby named Greyling could have a happy home. Yet, the fisherman and his wife would not allow Greyling in the water because they feared he would swim away. Whenever a huge wave

All Our Relations by Winona LaDuke describes the neglect and unfair hardships that Native American people have had to experience over time. LaDuke uses Aristotelian appeals such as logos and pathos to tell how the white man disparaged these people. She spoke of Gail Small, a Montana State University professor and a well-known advocate for Native peoples. The way LaDuke tells Small’s story is perhaps the most and persuasive of all.
The novel “Killing Mr. Griffin” is about a group of high school students from Del Norte High who decide to scare their strict English teacher but ends up in a suspenseful accident. Mr. Griffin is probably one of the strictest teachers ever. He won’t accept anything late, not even from the class president Dave Rutters; he won’t help Betsy Cline when she doesn’t understand an assignment; and Mark Kinney had to beg for a second chance in his class. When Mark’s best friend Jeff makes a careless comment about wanting to kill Mr. Griffin, he begins to make a plan to scare him.

The hand and 55 Miles to the Gas Pump were pretty good short stories that kept my mind alert. These stories had great meaning and symbolism behind them. They also illustrated other aspects of life that I haven’t noticed before reading these pieces. In conclusion, there

In the chapter, the gray zone, the author Primo Levi describes the human relationships inside the Lager. In describing the gray zone, Levi discusses the different roles of prisoners assigned by the Nazi. The prisoners that did the work were seen as being more privileged which at the end of the day helped them get more food and live better. Therefore, the concept of the gray zone is analyzing the difference between the privileged and the non-privileged in the Lager. The difference can be seen by the tasks that the prisoners carried out, for example, one of the groups were seen as, “Low ranking functionaries... sweepers, kettle washers, night watchmen, bed smoothers... checkers of lice and scabies,

In Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s brilliant work, The Yellow Wallpaper, readers explore the consequences of the ignorance of mental health, as well Gilman’s underlying message of the restriction of women, in nineteenth century America. The author of this story doesn’t want readers to focus on the progression of the woman when realizing her real situation, but in my opinion, how Gilman comments with this piece of fiction to the real oppression of women, and lack of weight Medicine held on the patient 's opinions in Charlotte’s society.
The yellow wallpaper is the most obvious symbol in this story. This symbolizes the protagonist 's mind named Jane during the 19th century. The yellow wallpaper symbolizes the way women were perceived. The yellow wallpaper includes models, angles and curves so that they contradict each other. we could say that these angles represents the identity of women during the 19th century. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is about the control and attacks the role of women in society.
