Good morning, I’m here to talk to you about preventative healthcare in greyhounds.
My companion animal placement was with a program that organises the fostering and adoptions of greyhounds, often getting 30 dogs into foster homes and 30 dogs into adoptive homes every month. As such, they and the veterinary clinic they associate closely with are in charge of establishing a preventative healthcare routine for hundreds of dogs through their foster programs and attempting to persuade adopters to maintain this routine.
Furthermore, a shelter they work closely with often has around 15 dogs at a time and as such must stay on top of several preventative treatments such as flea and worming healthcare.
Before every foster care or adoption process takes place, an employee of the enterprise conducts either a group information session with several prospective foster carers/adopters or individual sessions with the primary future dog carer to discuss many aspects of caring for greyhounds, and preventative health care is a major topic for discussion. All dogs are desexed and microchipped prior to adoption and there is no space for argument in this matter. Desexing is important for several reasons but two of the most significant reasons are to decrease the chance of cancer and to mediate any aggressive behaviours. Fleaing and worming is encouraged monthly, and three months worth of this treatment is given to adopters. While at the shelter, I did encounter flea dirt on one of the dogs I was
Specific Purpose: I will persuade my audience that pit bulls are not a dangerous breed by nature.
HOOK : You walk into the woods and see a giant great Dane with spots, long legs, flappy ears, WAY bigger than you, you’ve never seen such thing. Description
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to petition against Maryland’s law to identify “Pit Bulls” as a dangerous breed of dog.
When I say I have a pit bull does that frighten you? For most people, it does, even though it shouldn’t. I feel the dog restrictions in Shullsburg are limiting the lifestyles for both specific dog breeds as well as their owners. Did you know that in a way pit bulls are not even a breed? There are seven different dog breeds that are classified as pits. My puppy, a terrier, lab, retriever, and pit bull mix, is both loving and affectionate, but because she is part pit bull many already have a bad image plastered in their heads without even meeting her. When uneducated people say bad things about pit bulls, it devastates me. My personal opinion to this topic may be different than yours; however, I’m just asking you to have an open-mind and take into consideration what I am saying. Maybe at the end, you will start to feel why I am so heartbroken by what people have said about this specific breed. When people stereotype a pit bull as “vicious” they are limiting the capabilities as well as opportunities for this breed. My dog has to be muzzled, on a four-foot leash and walked by someone 16 years of age or older. At the
Preview Statement: I am going to address what the problem with mills are, and the reasons why one should consider adopting a pet instead of buying one from a pet store or a mill.
One major part of all peoples’ lives is health care, without it society would have no way of staying healthy and happy, and people would also have no way of treatment in case of an emergency. This also applies to all the pets’ lives are shared with. A certain profession is also needed to provide this care service for all of the animals. The people responsible for this service are Veterinarians. There is a lot to learn about the career of a veterinarian, including all of the schooling required, what a vet does, all of the advantages as well as the disadvantages, and the future outlook for this career.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Denver City Council, today I would like to talk to you about the city of Denver enforcing a dangerous dog law instead of breed specific legislation, because the enforcement of breed specific legislation is not the solution to dangerous dogs in the community. I plan on showing how Denver could change their law to make a difference to the quality of dogs living in this great city.
Specific Purpose: To persuade my students to volunteer and train a dog for 4 Paws University
In 2000, 68 million dogs were owned in the United States. In 2017, a total of around 89.7 million dogs in the United States alone, lived in a household. As the years past more and more people are adopting dogs. Some of those owners are new to having a pet and should learn how to take care of them.
Introduction: Today I will persuading my audience the benefits of getting a dog as a pet. Dogs can offer companionship, protection and even improve your health. Sixty eight percent of U.S households own a pet according to the 2017-2018 National Pet Owners Survey calculated by American Pet Products Association (APPA), and majority of the pets owned are dogs, weighing in at sixty percent. Dogs are domesticated animals that consist of various breeds such as Yorkie Terriers, German shepherds and more. There are over three hundred breeds according to the World Canine organization. This organization is the largest registry of certified dog breeds. This canine organization recognizes three hundred and thirty nine breeds of dogs which are classified into ten groups based on the dog’s function or size. There are various unique breeds that can fit into one’s specific lifestyle, giving no excuse not to have a dog to compliment ones personality.
A couple of years ago, Australia watched on from their tellies as ‘Four Corners’ unraveled the darkest of secrets in modern day greyhound racing. We exposed the gruesome sport for what it is, a lower class ‘Melbourne Cup’ which sends a clear and undeniable statement that the GRV (Greyhound Racing Victoria) have a lack of motivation and desire to fix the sport. The allegations that live baiting is used during training and the corruption surrounding the policing of the sport, further supports the idea that greyhound racing should indefinitely be banned in all states across Australia. Greyhound racing is completely out dated and will leave future generations puzzled at why we encouraged the continuation of this disgusting sport.
healthy dog is a happy dog, and we all want our pets to be as happy as possible. But do you know what you can do to help your dog be (and stay) in tip-top condition from puppyhood right through to his senior years? Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. The journey to a healthier pet, however, begins with eight simple steps. STEP 1: THE RIGHT DIET The old health campaign slogan that “you are what you eat” applies just as
The program started at St. Mary’s Hospital with just monthly group visits of one dog. This program has proved effective and beneficial and has evolved to using several dogs three or four times a month. They still use the dogs in a group setting, but also include individual visits to the patient’s room and bedside (Oakley, Kid Needs).
In most of the cases, it has been found that pets often get badly affected by fleas and this is why you should take good care of your pets. Since the pets can access to any part of your house therefore flea-infections can spread faster.
