The Green Berets clearly has a message that it is trying to convey with its production that not only is incredibly biased but is not historically accurate either. Furthermore, instead of trying to hide it bias, this movie displays it loud and proudly from the first major opening scene. The opening song highlights the strength and bravado of the Green Berets as they were the silver wings upon their chest. In addition, when the newspaper journalists are asking questions to the two soldiers at the training camp in South Carolina, the movie, from the very beginning, is trying to show why the U.S. should be engaged in Vietnam. The movie’s answer is that beside of communism, the U.S.’s duty as the world’s policeman, and the seriousness of the situation, the U.S. should be engaged in Vietnam (There are some other reasons mentioned as well). In regards to historical inaccurately, the Viet Cong themselves are poorly misrepresented in this film. As guerrilla soldiers, the Viet Cong did not wear a uniform. There is not a lot of CGI in this movie at all. Instead, the movie focuses on real effects and uses actual U.S. equipment that was used during the war. It is nice to see the equipment the U.S. used in the war in action, which was properly the intent of the movie. The music in the movie is authentic, yet feels out of place at times. For example, in heated moments when the Green Berets appear to be losing, the music instead of further prompting that the Green Beret are losing is instead much more neutral. As a result, the movie is trying to make it seem that the Green Berets still have a fighting chance when in reality they had lost Dodge
