The city is currently looking at two projects costing in excess of $4,000,000 each that will require financing. The first project is the HVAC improvements at the James J. Eagan (JJE) Civic Center which are estimated to cost $4,000,000. The second project is the renovation of the former Dick Weber Bowling Lanes to accommodate municipal court and police functions which is estimated at $4,600,000. To facilitate the financing of these two projects the city has engaged the services of Michelle Bock, Managing Director with Piper Jaffray and Co., to act as a Financial Advisor (FA) to the city as it relates to the financing of the aforementioned projects.

Nature of Work: Green Acres Regional Center is a service organization that provides bottled water and lawn care/landscaping services. The facility is locates on approximately 25 acres, which encompasses approximately twelve buildings. The facility has two residential cottages, recreation center, a cafeteria and two classroom buildings. These buildings are generally leased to other organizations. The main facilities being utilized by Green Acres Regional Center are the three bottled water production areas, administrative offices, and the two greenhouse structures. Green Acres currently employs 42 individuals with half of the employees being individuals with disabilities. 596 Acres is a Beautiful Solution that addresses the issue of urban land use. The purpose of this initiative aims to transform fenced in vacant lots into gardens, farms, and play spaces. It uses community funds and funding from local organizations to reach out to the owners of vacant lots through emails, phone calls, letters, and notes left on the property. Since the NYC Land Community Access Program in May 2011, this initiative has created and supported other sites such as Myrtle Village Green and The Siempre Verde Community Garden on the Lower East Side. The first two vacant lots discovered were publicly owned but never developed into something for community use. The 596 team took it upon themselves to gather data on possible lots in the NYC that could be renewed and put to better use.

One price for all retailers avoids channel conflict. Track retailer behavior to provide varying volumes of sales call. Adopt ways to improve relationship on one to one basis. Also, think of education on retail front. To develop a pre-fire plan for the Duffer’s Wood Golf Clubhouse, one way to implement a plan would be to adopt a spreadsheet with different sections. Being one of the initial officers to arrive at the Clubhouse, first thing I would like to see on the plan would be a contact person and phone number, especially if the emergency occurs after hours. Secondly, the plan should include building information such as the location of the lock box, fire panel, total square feet measurement, number of floors, basement, construction type, roof type and number of exits available. Our town is notable for having several interesting golf courses. For those residents whose interests lie in other pursuits, those courses are a waste of large quantities of otherwise useful space that could be better used to construct another mall or store. For the golf enthusiasts among us, however, the preponderance of courses is a delightful benefit of living in this otherwise uninteresting locale, where the only saving grace is the plentiful supply of interesting people.
