Did the Benefits Outweigh the Cost?
Back then, around the 200 BCs in Feudal China, there was an emperor by the name of Shi Huangdi. Shi Huangdi was a very powerful emperor; changing laws, uniting China, and building many advantageous things that benefitted China. One of those buildings being the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall, a mysterious, historical building that took many years to build. The wall in itself is quite a mystery. How was it built? How did the Chinese of that time manage to build something so humongous such as the Great Wall?... But what about the vast humanly cost the Chinese spent building such a wall? It may be true in the Great Wall’s history that many had their lives taken whilst attempting to accomplish such a big

The Great Wall showed that China was strong a strong nation, country, etc., to other countries. Because of this, other neighboring countries probably wouldn’t have been able to ever build something like the Great Wall because of how it’s ruled. Even though the other neighboring countries may have been strong enough to fight off their enemies, the Chinese had proved that they were strong enough despite their harsh ways of living. The Great Wall also showed that the ruling dynasty was quite powerful. Even while living in harsh times, the three different dynasties that had managed to continue building despite the harsh conditions they may have been through. This is something none of the other countries could ever do. Not only did the Great Wall work for things like this, the wall had also used as a deterrent to foreign invaders. It worked because people back then from foreign places probably weren’t used to thing such as the Great Wall. The Great Wall immensely intimidates foreign invaders because of how they aren’t used to sizes such as the Great Wall. The wall seemed to overpower them since it intimidates them, and because the wall is probably too tall to
The Great Wall of China was originally built during the Qin and Han Dynasties to protect China from the Xiongnu. It took the people of ancient China nearly 2,000 years to build and spans nearly 6,000 miles. However, building the wall was extremely costly in terms of men and supplies. Despite the cost of the wall, it proved to be immensely beneficial to the Chinese people. This is a result of the wall providing protection for merchants, the people within the wall and preventing the Xiongnu from invading.
Building the Great Wall was not worth the cost. The Great Wall of China is a long series of walls on China’s border that was built to protect them from getting attacked. The Great Wall was built to keep out the Xiongnu and other groups that attacked them. The Xiongnu was the main group that attacked China. People want the Great Wall built because it protects the Chinese states and empires. I believe they are wrong because it cost a lot of money and labor, it didn't work, and there was a ton of harsh working.
For thousands years, the Mongols have been a big threat to the Chinese civilization. The Great Wall of China took about 2000 years to build and finish. It has been measured to be over 5,488 miles long. Due to the many threats and enemies of Chinese, the wall was built. In my opinion, the benefits of building the wall do outweigh the costs for many reasons surrounding the topic.
For this reason, a wall was built, but in this process there were many major benefits with a few costs that came with them. Ultimately, the benefits outweigh the costs by expanding trade routes, protection and it being very cheap and fast. First of all, a benefit is that the Great Wall of China expanded trade routes. It helped with spreading trade when emperor Wu Di expanded the wall to the west and helped with trade in that area. Document D states, “He extended the Wall three hundred miles
The Great Wall was built by The Qin and the Han Dynasty. They built The Great Wall to keep out and protect China from the Mongols. The benefits of building The Great Wall of China did not outweigh the costs. In Document B, it showed that tribute was being paid by The Han. The Han was one of the the dynasties who first built The Great Wall. This shows that the benefits did not outweigh the costs because The Han still had tribute to pay to the Xiongnu Mongols and The Han dynasty still had to build and protect The Wall from the Mongols. In Document C, the text indicated that The Qin and The Han dynasties were peasants, and worked on The Great Wall while they got feed a little bit of food and suffered. The Qin and The Han were not treated well
China’s people needed food as much as they needed protection, but hey had people who could help with starvation and protection, but they’re not the same people. Peasants were farmers who could harvest food and feed china, soldiers are fighters that can protect China with their forces. Therefore building the great wall wasn’t a good choice not only did they lose most of their workers but hey lost their supply of
When many think of the country China, the first thing that comes to mind for many is the Great Wall of China. Over the time period of the Qin and Han dynasty, the wall was began being built to protect the people from Xiongnu who lived on the Northern China border. This group of people was a major threat to the Chinese people. To fix this problem the wall seemed like the only probably choice and the enormous project of building the wall began. Though a great deal went into building the Great Wall of Ancient China, the benefits of the wall outweighed the costs.
Although this was a great accomplishment and is now considered a symbol of China, it actually lead to the fall of the Dynasty. Shi Huang Ti used forced labor to construct the wall. Many of the peasants that were forced to work on the wall died of exhaustion, exposure to the elements, and hunger. This made him very unpopular with the people of China. Also, to keep his building project underway, he was forced to raise taxes. The forced labor, high taxes, and many deaths while The Wall was constructed lead to a number of revolts after Shi Huang Ti’s death and ultimately the fall of the Qin Dynasty. Finally, although the Qin Dynasty may have begun the construction of this Chinese Symbol, the Han Dynasty actually continued building The Wall. This proves that despite the idea that the Qin Dynasty was more influential because of the construction of the Great Wall of China, the Han Dynasty actually was more important to the development of
The Great Wall of China is one of the most beautiful and biggest ancient structure. In ancient times it was very well maintained and now it is sort of maintained because 30% of the wall is gone. The wall shows pride and culture to china even though 30% of the wall is gone and now there are laws in place to protect and maintain the wall. However most of the wall if gone is from human damage.
The first reason why the Great Wall was not worth the cost was because the wall was not very effective . The chin and Han dynasty's built the Great Wall to keep out invaders. People would walk around the spots where there wanot a wall built yet or a spot where guards were not on duty. ( Doc B ) The purpose was so that not as many guards would have to be on duty, but just as many guards were then as there were when the wall was not yet built. There were not guards protecting all spots of the wall, leaving it a blank opening for other enemies to enter. The wall was not just
Have you heard of the Great Wall of China, one of the most extravagant and controversial construction projects of all time? Under the Qin and Han dynasties (c.221 BCE-220 CE), its construction began. When construction on the wall commenced under Emperor Qin, nobody in China had seen anything like it before. Not that it was the first wall in China, but it was the first wall that was quite to that scale. The wall was primarily built for security, specifically to keep the Xiongnu Mongols from invading China.
The Great Wall was first build by Qin and Han.The reason why they build the wall is because to keep the enemies away like The Mongols. However, the benefits of the Great Wall of China did not outweigh the costs.
Altogether the wall was weak and easy to get through and was not needed to protect china from the Xiongnu. All of these facts add up to one conclusion, The great wall of china was not needed for china to be
One of the wonders of the world today is the Great Wall of China which was inspired by none other than the Qin Dynasty. Other dynasties put in dedication to having the Great Wall constructed but the Qin Dynasty played a significant role in coming up with the idea for it. The Great Wall of China would benefit China greatly because it would serve as defense against nomadic tribes. Apart from being protected by nomadic tribes, the Great Wall would be a benefit for China’s forever. Other countries
The Great Wall of China stretches about 5,500 miles long crossing deserts, mountains, grasslands, and plateaus. It took more than 2,000 years to build this incredible manmade structure.
