Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials
Today I am going to talk a little bit about the Christian Worldview. Religion can be a highly debated subject depending on who you talk to and the environment you are in. With so many different types of religion in the world today it can get confusing where you may fit in. In this paper I will be exploring some of the important elements of one of the more well known religions in the Christian Worldview to help you to understand why they believe what they believe.
God
God according to our textbook is considered “to be the proper object of all reverence and gratitude” (“A Starting Point for Wisdom”, Hiles & Smith, n.d., para. 13). Christians are expected to fear the Lord (God) because he is the beginning

“First, humans are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-28). Second, after the fall of Adam and Eve into sin, all humans are sinful by nature (Genesis 6:5; Romans 3:9-23)”. (“Departure from Wisdom”, Diffey, n.d., para. 9). In the beginning God created humans in his image and placed them in the Garden of Eden to live and work. They had dominion over the earth. In this time there was no sin. Once Adam and Eve were tempted and ate from the tree that was forbidden this all changed. This act introduced the sin into the world. Because of this temptation could be considered of one of humanity’s …show more content…
I think the major difference would be the fact that I do not believe in a higher power or an afterlife. I believe that when you are dead you are dead and your body goes back to the earth. Christians believe in a higher power and that there is eternal life to those who devote their lives on earth to worshiping God and restoring their heart to God. I am the type of person that needs evidence of something before I can believe in it. I have not witnessed anything that stands out as something that only God has done. There are no modern day miracles like they have in the Bible. It seems that science is the miracle maker now. Doctors have taken the place of Jesus (healing diseases and saving people from death). Why would a God who gave his only son to save us from sin allow this to
The four Gospels all tell the same story, but they differ in the small details and the way in which the story is told. The “Gospel Authors” spent much of their time with Jesus and I’m sure the events they witnessed were truly remarkable. These Apostles did have flashbulb memories, which are memories of exciting or shocking events that can be clearly remembered, but they also had much more going on. To remember the events that happened and record them for Scripture, the authors had to encode, store, and retrieve these memories. Encoding would be when the Apostles are first experiencing the event. Their brains are taking in information and processing them in unique ways. They then stored these memories in order to retrieve them later. Finally,
They had a social gospel which responded to problems in industrial society which fought for justice and an end to poverty. Women were educated and some even went to college. We know most women were teachers or nurses. They had reforming cities that had safe house's that were in poor neighborhoods and they could stay in these houses to learn about the area, have meetings and get free health care. They also had hull houses which were the second owned resident the government passed to better construction safety laws. There was an antibiotic saloon league that made a lot of kids and the wives go into poverty because of men drinking too much. They had democratizing trends that were initiated the referendum which allowed citizens control over the
The Gospel of John is amazing and unique in its own way. There's a lot of different controversies that arises to the surface because of the differences between John and the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke). There are differences in stories, themes, writing styles, and so on. It's like hearing 4 different people tell the same story. You will always get something different; different answers, details, etc.
Man was created in the image of God, but given free thought. With free thought came the thoughts and ability to sin. It does not matter what religious back ground that you come from or even if you are religious at all, it is easy to see that the world view characterization of human nature is accurate. When looking at resources or evidence that human nature has a tendency to sin all you have to do is turn on the television. The images and stories that we see on the news and through social media are not some recent events. We have been sinning since the creation of mankind, and with the world social unrest and current event mankind dies not look like they are going to stop.
As we look back on history we can see that human beings have made great strides as well as suffered many setbacks in our development of fundamental doctrines and/or beliefs by which we live and view the world. These foundational beliefs have provided the framework for which all civilizations preserve, cooperate, and govern their way of life. Certainly throughout history, the spread of Christian theology and doctrine has been influential in establishing and developing a deeply rooted theistic and biblical worldview foundation; thus being the center of much debate. In light of the various views within Christian theology, we will focus specifically on doctrine that is foundational to the Christian
defined any doctrines and creeds, before the New Testament was written. The gospel goes back before Jesus preached any sermons or performed any miracles, before Jesus was born in a manger, before Jesus was conceived in his mother Mary’s womb. The gospel goes back before the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus issued a decree that brought Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem, back before the founding of Rome. The gospel goes back before David ruled Israel, before Moses led slaves out of Egypt, before Abraham, before Noah. Back, back, back: before Adam and Eve or any human; before animals, birds, fish, or plants; before land or water; before earth or sky; before matter or energy; before any created thing; back, back, back through all ages to the very beginning. John’s gospel starts by saying, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:1,14).
Humankind was created in the image of God; He gave them like characteristics such as compassion, love, and faithfulness. In Genesis 3 we learn of the Fall of Humanity, which introduces not only sin into the world but also pain. (“Lecture 3”, 2015) After the Fall human nature is then scarred by sin, humans are born sinful by nature. In Genesis 4 Cain brings murder into the world; from here we see humanity relentlessly depart from the wisdom of God. (“Lecture 3”, 2015) Only by accepting Jesus Christ into their hearts, can they atone for their sins and get right with the Lord.
One day I happened to attend in a gospel meeting, a pastor had come there to preach. He preached from John 3: 16, God so loved the world…Everlasting life. The word touched me and thought Jesus is the real God who died for me and if I believe in him then he will give me the eternal life and peace in mind. Then there was altar call and I went to the front and repeated the prayer with the pastor and received Jesus as my personal Lord and

However, things had begun to look up, for some in the group a few hours of work were available and the homeless got fed. One of the men talked about the same Good Samaritan who brought the grill also brought pots and pans, something the group sorely missed. Not to mention, other people have brought things like toiletries and soap. And still, bathing has been one of the many areas where the men were forced to do it Mother Nature's way, in the river that flows alongside their makeshift homestead. Now they have distilled water to use for washing themselves also their clothes for the time being.
As revealed in the story of Adam and Eve (Genesis), we were born into sin resulting in the possession an ongoing sinful nature. 1 John 1:8 says that “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth”. We were born into and are continuing to live within a fallen society. The other side and capacity of humans is that of love and compassion. Not everything done while on earth is a sin as we were created to “love as God loves” (“Lecture 2”, 2017). It is fair to say that sin is a common occurrence in our day to day lives, but we can turn from that sin and go towards God.
Religion has existed for countless centuries. Christianity is one of the major religions in this world, which had people be criticized, battle in wars, and killed for, but it still survived to this day. The purpose of this paper is to study the source of the religion, recognize the teachings, observe its spread throughout the world, and to identify how it stands among people today. Approaching this paper by a factual report I will explain these major points and why we need to know about this religion and other religions that existed before our generation.
A worldview is the way a person views and interprets the world around them. Life experiences and spiritual influences play a part in forming one’s worldview. A person’s worldview helps them to determine beliefs on creation, humanity, morals and what happens after death. According to Waddell, (2014) “Worldviews are also like lenses found in eyeglasses that serve as the means through which a person sees the world.” (para. 43) In this paper, the main components of the Christian worldview will be discussed, to include God, humanity, Jesus, restoration and analysis of Christian Faith as well as a reflection of my own beliefs.
The Johannine literature of the Gospel of John, the letters of John and the book of Revelation was “written that you may [come to] believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and that through this belief you may have life in his name” (Jn. 20:31). It bring light and life to the one who is given the gift of faith to become a believer. Each of the biblical boos articulate a different means of how one gain eternal life but all are united in the role of discipleship in one’s walk of faith. Discipleship in Johannine literature is articulated through three themes: light vs. darkness, obedience vs. rebellion and believer vs. antichrist. This paper will look at how each of the Gospel of John, the epistles of John and the Book of Revelation define
Human beings are naturally sinful. The first people Adam and Eve disobeyed God right in front of him in the garden of Eden. Since then people have been sinning.
