The Indianapolis Colts have released their offensive line starter Gosder Cherilus two years on his current five-year, $35 million contract on Sunday due to the seven-year veteran’s recurring knee problems, as reported by Yahoo Sports. The 31-year-old Cherilus, who was let go a week and a day before official training camp starts, is coming off a knee operation in January this year which sidelined him for the last two weeks of the 2014 regular season. While it may seem like a surprise for most Colts fans, Cherilus’ agent Greg Diulus said that the team’s management had been talking to them about the plan for quite some time before the official announcement was made public. And while Diulus admitted that he and his client were “contractually …show more content…
Bleacher Report indicated that the former Ohio State standout played Cherilus’ right tackle spot briefly last season when the latter was injured, but he was not that effective. Colts general manager Ryan Grigson wanted Mewhort to stay in the position, which led to the coaching staff working him out at the spot during the offseason trainings. With Mewhort secured at right tackle, head coach Chuck Pagano’s concern is how to fill up the 23-year-old’s old position, the left tackle. Analysts believe that promising young star Anthony Castonzo will fill-in at the left. Meanwhile, Dan Hanzus of the NFL’s official website said that Cherilus’ rehabilitation did not “progressed quickly” as planned. Because of the slow recovery, the 6-foot-7, 316-pound Haitian-American missed almost all of the summer’s trainings, which led to the team’s decision to finally let him go. Cherilus earned $16.5 million during the first two years of his contract, but the remaining $18.5 million was unguaranteed, which would provide the Colts a much-needed salary cap relief. There are no teams reported to have an interest on Cherilus as of the
Tyrone Crawford didn’t see snap his entire rookie season but last season was his coming out party. The 2013 third round pick wrecks absolute havoc up the middle. There were several times last season when Jeremy Mincey and Henry Melton got the credit for the sack but it was Crawford who pushed the line taking on two or three blockers at once giving them a free run at the QB. Crawford had a good season last year ranking in the top 15 of all DT’s (according to

After battling with Newsome for the starting left tackle position last summer, I believe Bredeson will return to the outside in 2017. If Newsome’s healthy, look for Bredeson to anchor the right side.
In 2014, he signed a two year contract with the New York Giants for $4 million. He did not finish the season due to a torn pectoral muscle. Even with a shortened season, he had a remarkable first year with the Giants and was tied for fifth among all defense ends who played in a 4-3 defense. He was even ranked higher than superstar teammate Jason Pierre-Paul.
The former University of Florida and Wharton High School star has been told the right cornerback spot is his to lose. But when the Bucs go to their sub packages with five defensive backs, Hargreaves moves inside to the slot, showing the kind of versatility by a defensive back not seen in Tampa Bay since Ronde Barber retired.
So Tampa Bay ended up trading the 7th overall pick for the 12th pick and another two 2nd rounders, which was a brilliant move. Picking up Vita Vae, Defensive Tackle out of Washington, might have come as a surprise to many, yet it was a solid pickup. The Chris Baker experiment did not pan out. Now Licht is looking to seek help alongside Gerald McCoy by using his first rounder on the best Defensive Tackle available this year. Vita Vae is 6'4'' and weighs 347 lbs. He

They brought in an entirely new coaching staff, and they allocated more than $30 million for a free-agent receiver in Robert Woods. Austin was given a four-year, $42 million extension weeks before the start of the 2016 season. But there is only $5 million in dead money tied to his contract after this year, which means they can easily part ways with Austin if he doesn’t fit McVay’s scheme.Austin is the second-highest paid player on the roster for the 2017 season and is a lofty $14.9 million cap hit. However, his cap number drops to just $8 million after this year. That’s the same amount Robert Woods will make in 2018.For comparison, the Rams will certainly not waive their wideout this season. It would cost $19.9 million to cut him in 2017.

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (Achieve3000, June 23, 2010). Jacques McClendon spent most of his life as a fan of Indianapolis Colts' quarterback Peyton Manning. But these days, McClendon isn't cheering for Manning on television. Instead, the Colts' rookie guard is lining up to protect his hero from getting tackled. Making the shift from college to the National Football League (NFL) is already tough enough for most new players.
