With America growing at the rate it is, it is very important to grow with it. College is the best way to prepare someone to be out in the workforce and survive. Going to college is not essential for success, but it will give someone the extra skills that will help them in their career and in life. College helps people get a good job, prepares them for adult life, and will help them make more money.

The idea that everyone has to go to college in order to get a good job has been engraved into students minds for decades but is this really the case? As a student going to a high school that is building us up for college, you would probably think I believed college was important, but you would be wrong, just as wrong as it is to believe that college is the only option. Over the next few paragraphs, you will understand this reasoning and learn why college is not the best for some.

College can be very helpful in more ways than just giving people more head knowledge. I do not disagree that people will benefit from learning a trade skill. In my personal opinion I think we should teach the basics of some trade skills in high school, and let the student decide if a college education is something they want to pursue. At high school we are taught that going to college is one of the greatest decision we must take. There are those that think otherwise. I for one lean more toward not going for college. College is awesome in many different ways. When you are in college, you have the independence and freedom to do anything that you would like to do. Another good thing about college is the variety of courses that different colleges offer, and also chance to focus on what you really want to do as a career. Going to college may be one of the toughest decisions a person could possibly make in life. But do they ever think that colleges or universities are really preparing you for any jobs, does a piece of paper worth a lot now a days. Freeman Hrabowski wrote an article responding to people that think educations is a waste of time, and it is called “College Prepare People for life” (Hrabowski). In the article he mentions many positive thing about going to college and what is the outcome of going to college. But I believe that, he hasn’t done a very good job to explain why college is a good place to go prepare yourself for the real world. I believe that college is very important for our life, but not many of us know if we are really learning something while being in college. I feel like colleges or universities has become a place where we go just to go or try to earn a degree in any field. Therefore, I believe that colleges doesn’t enhance our basic skills, doesn’t give us a certainty of us getting a good job, doesn’t give us the hardships of the real world and it isn’t a place where everyone gets treated it equally.

College education is necessary to have economic opulence in this country as individuals. Data graphs prove that seventy percent of people have a successful career by studying more than depending on a high school diploma. The remaining thirty percent can have a successful career with a high school degree. Although it’s still possible to be successful with just a high school diploma it doesn’t hurt to make more money by studying further and learning excessively. It can be difficult and stressful to rely on just a high school diploma. What if you don’t belong in the thirty percent of people who are successful with high school diploma? It can cause you to become paranoid and lead you to have a financial crisis which can shatter your life into pieces. Instead of going for the easier route which will most probably cause you to be unsuccessful, going the extensive route by studying more than just relying on a high school diploma is the efficacious way to go. This will cause everyone to live a more relaxed and stress-free life for the future and will guarantee a stable job to be financially independent. College is not for everyone, nor is it required for a lot of jobs today. A reason that people do not necessarily have to go to college is because most jobs today don’t require going to college. Last year, “according to the federal reserve bank of new york, 46 percent of recent college graduates were in jobs that don’t even require a college degree.” This is saying that majority of those that went to college wasted their time and money for something that was not needed. The more people waste their time, the longer it will take to be successful. This is one example that supports why college is not necessary.

Why go to college is a question many people debate with. The majority of people are not aware of the substantial benefits of attending college. With the rapid shift in today’s economy having a college degree is a major key.
