Why do we need to go to college? Why is it so important that our parents cram this information in our heads since the beginning of our high school year, and they give us the same answer “so you can get a good job” In reality, college is place for people to learn more about what they are really interested in and pursue that interest so they can make a career out of it. College is very one sided, if you go to college you will be able to get a job, and be able to take care of yourself. If you don’t, you won’t be able to hold your own in life, because so many things requires a college degree. Other people have different views and opinions about college that is completely the opposite of mine. In this essay I going to talk about why college is basically …show more content…
Today if people work hard enough they can have a pretty decent job, make a good amount of cash, and accomplish something without having gone to college. Ever since kids are raised being taught that if they go to college then you will be successful and have a good career, as long as they attend. College is seen as the most amazing to ever happen; people want to feel good about them knowing that they are going to make something out of themselves by going to college. I went to college to become an animator so I can do more cool things with my drawing skills, and not to mention to make my life as fun as I can possibly make it. Krishnamurti says “surely, education has no meaning unless it helps you to understand the vast expanse of life with all its subtleties, with its extraordinary beauty, its sorrows and joys. You may earn degrees, you may have a series of letters after your name and land a very good job; but then what? What is the point of it all if in the process your mind becomes dull, weary, stupid?” what he’s explaining is that a college degree isn’t worth getting unless you have a job worth waking up, and going every waking minute of the day. If you have a job that’s not even the one you wanted than what was of the point of college for you to just learn something and let go to
With America growing at the rate it is, it is very important to grow with it. College is the best way to prepare someone to be out in the workforce and survive. Going to college is not essential for success, but it will give someone the extra skills that will help them in their career and in life. College helps people get a good job, prepares them for adult life, and will help them make more money.
The idea that everyone has to go to college in order to get a good job has been engraved into students minds for decades but is this really the case? As a student going to a high school that is building us up for college, you would probably think I believed college was important, but you would be wrong, just as wrong as it is to believe that college is the only option. Over the next few paragraphs, you will understand this reasoning and learn why college is not the best for some.
This article was a very engrossing read, listing the pros and cons of college. Interestingly enough, the journalist John Cassidy leaves an insinuation that the revered idolization that is known as higher education of college is a scam. Similar to AP tests, attending college is expected of almost all students as it will give them benefits later on in life; high wages for an example. However, the expenditure for going to college is the hard fact that it will squeeze all the money from your wallet, bank account, mattress, and anything you managed to shove up your butt. This suffocation may lead some students to get a student loan and get into debt (which is something you specifically told us not to do). Add in the fact
College can be very helpful in more ways than just giving people more head knowledge. I do not disagree that people will benefit from learning a trade skill. In my personal opinion I think we should teach the basics of some trade skills in high school, and let the student decide if a college education is something they want to pursue. After coming to a college I do see that people should come even if it is for two years. The debt is always in issue when coming to school, but there are plans you can make to pay them off. Coming to college can do a lot to help anyone, but for the students that are coming right out of high school, college can be a safe place for them to experience the real world. In some cases it can give them some much needed
At high school we are taught that going to college is one of the greatest decision we must take. There are those that think otherwise. I for one lean more toward not going for college. I am arguing that this type of decision is not for everyone. Sometimes I feel as though high school isn't enough for me to succeed though. In this essay though I have read all the experiences or opinions of some authors who feel as though that college is the right choice. I have of counter arguments that will support my argument
Coming to college has shown me information and knowledge I never thought I was capable of learning and it will be knowledge I will use for the rest of my life. I came to college last year for my own personal growth and to expand my horizons. I thought about what I wanted to do after high school and continuing my education was number one on my list. I’m here simply to better my future, expand my knowledge, increase my potential, and learn more about myself. I want to make my family and myself proud by completing college and getting a degree. Bettering my future and making sure I have the information to be able to do my future career is my top priority because it’s the only thing I have continually been working for since the 9th grade. Expanding my knowledge in these courses that will soon get me to the school I need to be at is a compelling reason for me to stay motivated enough to wake up in the morning and push myself to come to school. I hope to increase my potential and develop into
College is awesome in many different ways. When you are in college, you have the independence and freedom to do anything that you would like to do. Another good thing about college is the variety of courses that different colleges offer, and also chance to focus on what you really want to do as a career. Although all colleges are different, they all have to same goal. To help and to see students become successful.
Going to college may be one of the toughest decisions a person could possibly make in life. There are many reasons of why or why not to attend college according to the different lifestyles a person may have going at their point in life. Some reasons for attending college may consist of being one step closer in achieving goals, having higher pay checks, and having a better lifestyle. Although college has its pros and its cons, being a college student will identify the importance of a person and help them acknowledge how hard they have worked to get what they have.
So, you decide you want to go to college. Do you know all of your options? Every student is different with their reasoning on going to college and learning style and want to choose what college fits best for them. It is a cultural assumption to simply thing that bigger is better, but is that always the right choice? Attending a smaller college and a much larger college has similar outcomes, but differ on cost, learning atmosphere, and activities.
Colleges and Universities are windows of knowledge that many people try to break, in doing so, people are ready for the next stage of their life. But not many have the option to go the world where knowledge is everything, and end being a simple worker all his life. People would judge a person for not having a degree, bachelor and many more. But do they ever think that colleges or universities are really preparing you for any jobs, does a piece of paper worth a lot now a days. Freeman Hrabowski wrote an article responding to people that think educations is a waste of time, and it is called “College Prepare People for life” (Hrabowski). In the article he mentions many positive thing about going to college and what is the outcome of going to college. But I believe that, he hasn’t done a very good job to explain why college is a good place to go prepare yourself for the real world. I believe that college is very important for our life, but not many of us know if we are really learning something while being in college. I feel like colleges or universities has become a place where we go just to go or try to earn a degree in any field. Therefore, I believe that colleges doesn’t enhance our basic skills, doesn’t give us a certainty of us getting a good job, doesn’t give us the hardships of the real world and it isn’t a place where everyone gets treated it equally.
College education is necessary to have economic opulence in this country as individuals. Data graphs prove that seventy percent of people have a successful career by studying more than depending on a high school diploma. The remaining thirty percent can have a successful career with a high school degree. Although it’s still possible to be successful with just a high school diploma it doesn’t hurt to make more money by studying further and learning excessively. It can be difficult and stressful to rely on just a high school diploma. What if you don’t belong in the thirty percent of people who are successful with high school diploma? It can cause you to become paranoid and lead you to have a financial crisis which can shatter your life into pieces. Instead of going for the easier route which will most probably cause you to be unsuccessful, going the extensive route by studying more than just relying on a high school diploma is the efficacious way to go. This will cause everyone to live a more relaxed and stress-free life for the future and will guarantee a stable job to be financially independent. College education serves more than ensuring that we’ll have a financially successful life. It benefits us in many ways such as gaining experience and professionalality for future
College is not for everyone, nor is it required for a lot of jobs today. A reason that people do not necessarily have to go to college is because most jobs today don’t require going to college. Last year, “according to the federal reserve bank of new york, 46 percent of recent college graduates were in jobs that don’t even require a college degree.” This is saying that majority of those that went to college wasted their time and money for something that was not needed. The more people waste their time, the longer it will take to be successful. This is one example that supports why college is not necessary.
Why go to college is a question many people debate with. The majority of people are not aware of the substantial benefits of attending college. With the rapid shift in today’s economy having a college degree is a major key. According to article written by Fatou Faal, “The United States has been transformed from manufacturing-based economy to an economy based on knowledge, and the importance of a college education can be compared to that of a high school diploma education forty years ago.” The benefits of college prepare and shape you for today’s world.
Attending a college was my dream since I was a child. My dream is becoming true,
People like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are exceptions, as they became successful without a college degree. These people are looked at as shining examples that college is unnecessary,
