GMO’S Should Be Banned From Ypsilanti community Schools_Because they pose unacceptable risks to ecosystem ,anti-nutrients are formed in the potential products, and Can harm agriculture.
Gmo have been shown to harm the ecosystem,These human-made organisms can reproduce and interbreed with natural organisms, thereby spreading to new environments and future generations in an unpredictable and uncontrollable way.
Can harm agriculture because bt plants get their name they incorporate a transgene that makes a protein based toxin alled the cry toxin from the bacterium bacillus thuringiensis.can harm birds, insects, amphibians, marine ecosystems, and soil organisms. They reduce bio-diversity, pollute water resources, and are unsustainable.A lack of biological diversity not only reduces natural habitats, but may lead to higher risks of crop failure this was a major factor to the.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), have turned into an exceptionally questionable theme here in our reality today. GMOs are life forms that have been developed through a quality joining methodologies of biotechnology or genetics building. This is a moderately new type of science which permits DNA from an individual species to be injected into another species in a research center. This produces blends of plant, creature, microscopic organisms, and viral qualities that don 't show up in conventional crossbreeding systems or found in nature. GMO’s have been liked to several health-related issues, and should be banned by the FDA (Genetically Modified Organisms, N.D. ).
Professor Richard Lewotin said “An ecosystem, you can always intervene and change something in it, but there is no way of knowing what all the downstream effects will be or how it will affect the environment.” Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) are not healthy and they shouldn’t be put in our food. Our nation does not know the full extent of GMOs. GMOs are used in almost all of our food, and for the most part there are no regulations for these GMOs that food companies are using now a days. They have been used for years without telling us the full background and side effects they could have. As a nation we need to take the right step in learning the facts about them and making our food truly healthy. GMOs should be made illegal due to the fact that studies have shown them to be unsafe and harmful to consume.
The Jamestown colony was a thriving community from what it looks like in the picture. They have ships coming in and out which means economically their resources are substantial. The civilization is building it's way up. They had not fully cut themselves off from the British throne which means they still had incoming resources from them which help them establish their
GMOs should be banned because of their harsh impact on the environment. They are causing biodiversity loss, affecting organic agriculture, and inhibiting sustainable agriculture.
Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. And odysseus and cummings both have courage. And having courage means being brave or being bold. And cummings a odysseus both were brave. Selflessness is being concern about others more so then yourself.
“Anyone that says ‘Oh, we know GMOs are perfectly safe,’ I say is either unbelievably stupid, or deliberately lying. The reality is. we don't know. The experiments simply haven't been done, and we now have become the guinea pigs.” ~ Dr. David Suzuki. As of 2013 sixteen counties have total or partial ban of banned GMOs. GMO’s should be banned from the U.S due to the safety concerns, genetic engineering creating side effects, and the potential to cause cancer.
Thesis statement: Genetically modified food needs to be banned from being produced not only in the United States, but also around the world.
Meanwhile, a growing body of evidence connects GMOs with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights.
GMOs could also have an effect on the environment. Crops are being genetically engineered as "Roundup Ready" so they can withstand massive spraying with the toxic pesticide, doesn’t readily break down in the environment, and ends up in our streams (Kids Right To Know). Stronger pesticides are being used because of new super weeds and super bugs becoming Roundup resistant. GMOs could also be harmful to non-targeted organisms. The pesticides and other farming techniques are life threating towards bees, butterflies, etc.
GMO’s were introduced into the food system for several reasons and they have affected that system in many ways.
The theme of agriculture and even more specifically genetically modified organisms helped to critically examine the dangers and hazards of such GMOs. Knowing the potential issues with GMOs from class helped understand and effectively critique this article more. The examples and real world statistics in this article magnified the importance of GMO labeling and the dangers imposed upon consumers who eat such foods.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience all about GMO’S in food, including the positive and negative effects they have on us and society.
First, knowing what GMO’s are and what all they are found in, can help parents to understand the urgency of this issue with the future of their children. The fact that genetically modified foods are made to help with plant and product damage resistance, to repel insects and prevent disease, to produce a prosperous crop for farmers, and provide the ability to produce enough to supply the demand needed by the population, this may be a benefit for supply and demand but the health of the people consuming it are at risk. Per the USDA 's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), biotechnology plantings as a percentage of total crop plantings in the United States in 2012 were about 88 percent for corn, 94 percent for cotton, and 93 percent for soybeans. (USDA, 2016) As stated on IRT, or Institute for Responsible
Have you ever looked at an apple and wondered why it is so big and red? Well chances are it's because of GMO’s. GMO’s are genetically modified organisms. Plants or animals go under a process where a scientist alters their genes with DNA from other species of living organisms, bacteria, or viruses to resist diseases and pesticides. Many citizens have been concerned about this because of what the media has portrayed. Many have been considering dangerous and unhealthy. Although GMO’s do have some negative effects they also have some positive effects. I believe GMO’s are a good thing, yes they might have risks, but everything we do comes with risks. GMO’s are tested for safety and allergen before they hit the markers. GMO’s could also help
It said to believe that some insects can not ingest some of the crops because they have been genetically modified, therefore; could cause them to not digest properly. Also adding to the list of disadvantages of GMO’s is that this new GM technology could cause some concerns on the changing of our agriculture. It has been proven in some studies that GMO strains have the potential to change agriculture. Another reason for individuals to not be for GMO’s is because they can potential disturb or ruin or environment. They can cause such harm to the environment because of the fact that they are not naturally grown crops, which can complicated all factors of that environment. In addition, the GMO’s crops can cause unwanted residual effects. These crops can leave unwanted residual substances that could remain/ be present in the soil in which it was grown for long extended periods of time. There has been studies to prove that strains of the GM of the crop could have the possibility of remaining in the soil for years, even after the crops have been uprooted. The results from this research even concluded that the maximum of how long the residual could stay inside the soil was up to 5 years. Beyond that particular fact, the GM technology found in GMO’s are said to promote weed growing. Also it was said that,”to keep these new weeds under control, scientists then invented new herbicides that were not necessary for non-GMO weeds. These chemicals are also toxic to various mammals and amphibians, who are feeding on GMO crops. Tests even show that the uptake of these herbicides also has toxic consequences on aquatic ecosystems(greengarageblog.org).” GMO’s also cripple the ablitiy for the crops to have diversity. It is known in nature that many variations of organisms are welcomed, because it is part of their evolutionary trend. Unfortunately, when an individual introduces
