Argumentative Paper On Globalization

As Aesop once said in his short story “The Four Oxen and the Lion”, “United we stand, divided we fall”. Globalization is a process in which countries and people all over the world interact with each other for economic, political, or cultural reasons. It can be seen as a way that has made everyone in the world united as one. Many people believe that globalization is a negative thing because it does not benefit everyone at all. However, I believe that the overall net outcome of globalization is positive because it has changed the direction of education, it has united humanity more than ever, and information and ideas are being shared to improve lifestyle. Almost like Aesop’s quote, a united world would be better than a divided one. Globalization has had a positive effect on the world due to its various outcomes that benefit humanity.

Over many years of trading between different people, goods from one region of the world can be employed and enjoyed in another. This process is called globalization. There are some negative connotations revolving around the word, but those are overpowered by all of its positive aspects. I believe globalization is good for society because it helps countries win wars, impacts the economy for the better, and spreads important technological advancements.

The three theories of global inequality: modernization theory, dependency theory, and globalization theory all attempt to describe and offer up solutions to global inequalities. I think that each has it's strengths and shortcomings.

Perhaps a cliché to mention, but an important aspect of human life which has brought the entire race to where it stands today, is the very act and ability to communicate with each other; and finally in the 19th century, this ability to communicate culminated to that process of ultimate human integration which is known as “globalization”. Although the 19th century is considered as the beginning of the kind of “globalization” that describes the modern world today, the process is believed to have begun during the times of great voyages and discoveries. Arthur Macewan in his essay “What is Globalization” (2001) wrote, “Ever since Adam and Eve left the garden, people have been expanding the geographic realm of their economic, political, social and cultural contacts.

The contention has been made that organized commerce is the way that ought to and will be taken to enhance the world economy for all. It can be argued that economic globalization may or may not be an irreversible trend. There are several significant effects of economic globalization. There is statistical evidence for positive financial effects as well as proposals that there is a power imbalance between developing and developed countries in the global economy. Furthermore, economic globalization has an impact on world cultures.

Globalization is the process in which economic, political, social, and cultural differences are lessened by the exchange of goods and ideas across national boundaries. Greater interactions among countries eliminate the barriers created by distance. The speed and scope of globalization led to differing opinions about the positive or negative impacts on society. Proponents of globalization argue that free trade and free movement of labor allows more variety of consumer goods, allocation of skilled workers, and a continuous flow of new ideas to any market around the world. While opponents of globalization claim that the creation of an international free market has a huge pressure on the individuals of the developed nations who are at risk out job outsourcing. Overall, economic globalization has had a positive effect on free trade and economic prosperity for developed countries, which can be deemed greater than the negative effect on some developing nations by expanding their domestic income inequality disparity.

Globalization is a very hot button topic in today’s economy. It is discussed and debated everywhere, including TV shows, on the internet, in politics, and in company boardrooms.
