Paranormal activity is a very debatable topic, with some saying ghosts and poltergeists are as real as you and me, while others try to explain the weird happenings as something natural. One of these places that is famous for its ghostly visitors is the Tower of London, located in The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, England. Not only is the Tower of London a very interesting place because of its ghostly guests, but it also serves as an important place in history.

Millions of people each night shut the lights off and watch their favorite paranormal television show, awaiting for a hope that the paranormal is real. According to Wikipedia paranormal events are, “events that can not readily be explained by the range of normal experience or scientific explanation.” Paranormal events are very fascinating and can appear as though there is nothing that can explain such rare phenomena. As a kid I sometimes would watch shows that would discuss all sorts of paranormal events from ghost sightings, big foot, the Loch Ness monster, UFO sightings, and even alien abductions in some instances. These stories really intrigued me because they were so mysterious. However, one thing I noticed about all those shows is that there was not any tangible evidence in any paranormal event to support their claim. Instead there was usually just an eye witness who would describe what

The beginning of the nineteenth century was also the start of a legendary movement in literature, known as Romanticism. Authors during this period created their own worlds by using their imaginations. Individuals no longer saw themselves a measure of everything around them, but rather as one more component of the great source of life and creativity: nature. The Romantics placed emphasis on emotions such as apprehension, terror, and awe as an authentic source of aesthetic experience, as well as the feelings that accompany confronting the sublimity and beauty of nature, especially. Supernatural elements are not present in all Romantic literature; however, the supernatural approach was an important and arguably crucial strategy for Romanticism to achieve its purposes.
A Nineteenth Century Ghost Story in The Turn of The Screw by Henry James The Turn of The Screw is a classic Gothic ghost novella with a wicket twist set in a grand old house at Bly. Situated on the outskirts of Louisville, KY sits a famous former tuberculosis hospital. Waverly Hills first became functional in July of 1910 when tuberculosis, or TB, was deadly and patients affected were isolated from the public. Because it is close to my small hometown of Carrollton, KY, Waverly is extremely well-known for its paranormal happenings. Throughout my life, I have always had a relatively strong belief in paranormal phenomenon. The idea of a paranormal encounter is often foreign until something unexplainable happens directly to you. Nearly everyone has had at least one experience where there is no rhyme or reason as to why or how it happened. My first trip to Waverly was in
The Bishop originally helped King William with tasks that do not befit that of a Bishop. Upon the death of King William, Ranulf Flambard was imprisoned by the new king, King Henry I, on accusations for extortion. These accusations were specific to extorting larger taxes from the People of London. The Bishop, being an important figure, was allowed privileges that other prisoners were not. This lead to the Bishop planning an escape from the tower using these privileges. In order to escape, he had a rope smuggled into his cell and tricked his guards into drinking wine with him. Once the guards were drunk, the Bishop used the rope to climb down from his cell and onto a waiting horse. He then was able to safely ride away to freedom. This marks the first escape from the Tower of
When it comes to paranormal occurrences, drastic measures are taken to prove that it is not paranormal, but coincidence. There is always an explanation for what goes 'bump' in the night, even if it is unseen. Certain circumstances are understandable to think there is something lurking in the dark, but the phenomena is likely caused from fear. When the paranormal subject is brought up in discussion, most people who are skeptical of the possibility, practice many different procedures to prove the paranormal is all in the mind of those consumed by fear.
