In my own point of view of what I think critical thinking means is a guide to make a logical decision based on a number of variables such as factual evidence and credible resources that can create valid statements behind the action of thought process including being open-mindedness and demonstrating the differences of valid evidence and assuming to make and communicate their point of view to be understood by the others in a conversation.

Critical thinking is the process of rationally analyzing and attempting to solve a problem accurately without guessing. The first step in critical thinking is to understand the problem thoroughly which will allow you to restate the problem in different ways to learn about it and other related issues and where to look for possible solutions.

Critical thinking is described as unbiased, clear and factual thought process that helps any student with any decision-making process. Critical thinking is an essential tool that every student will need to master to continue academic success. There are multiple phases of critical thinking as described by Benjamin Bloom which include remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating. The critical thinking process starts by remembering. If we can remember what we read and apply key facts we will be able to move forward to understand what decisions we need to make. From there we can then apply the facts to the decision we have to make and innovate, or create, as needed.

Critical thinking’s meaning to me is a very well-disciplined thinking process of an individual who skillfully, analyzing and evaluating. A process from information gathered from information given to an individual. It also is coming from communication, observations and past experiences that the individual has experienced from the past. Critical thinking allows you to think and ask yourself the right questions so that you can reach the best conclusion.

Critical thinking involves evaluating and analyzing data in order to form a reasonable judgment about a particular topic or idea. It is not simply believing a subject matter because someone in authority or expertise said it, but challenging those arguments in order to form a well thought out conclusion. A critical thinker will normally not accept an answer without reasoning; they require evidence to validate or prove their conclusion. The ability to reason logically is a fundamental and disciplined skill that can be learned over time.

Critical thinking is when we evaluate beliefs and actions. It is when we critique our own or even someone else’s actions, plans, thoughts, beliefs, and so much more. The whole purpose of critical thinking is to see if our own or even someone else’s thinking follows logic and good sense. The end goal of critical thinking is to end up with conclusions that are correct and to help make wise decisions.

Critical thinking is utilized by a person who might be having a problem, a need to find a solution. A critical thinker first has to find ways to confront the issues in order to find the best solution. Critical thinking has many different combinations that can be rational, awareness, honesty, open-mindedness, discipline and judgment. When a person is being rational there looking for facts by finding evidence that might lead to solving the problem. A person is aware of his/her surroundings by paying attention to every detail. A person might be impulsive and he/she can recognize their emotions can be impulsive. Being open-mindedness can be negative because the imagination of a person can lead him/her to believe things beyond his/her expectations.

As humane beans we speak about critical thinking as a person who thinks thing out very clear, with purpose and multifaceted ideas. This is somewhat true. Yes, that does help to begin and mend a critical thinker but critical thinking also includes a combination of skills. Those main characteristics are self-awareness, honesty, open-mindedness discipline, and judgment. Using these characteristics daily and with practice develops an amazing critical thinker. That person can live life solving hard problems, creating new ways of solving them, and using new ideas and techniques when needed.

When I think of critical thinking and how I would define it, the simplest definition is having the ability to solve or argue and issue by using unbiased, evidenced backed ideas. In any profession, a person must have the ability to solve problems and work with others. Having a biased opinion and not including other’s ideas and opinions into your own thought forces you to not have an open mind and limits expanded knowledge. In my career I have had to engage in multiple interviews. One of the things I found interesting in all of them was the focus on individuals ability to use critical thinking to solve complex, challenging issues.
