Another film with a similar message is one named ‘Gattaca’. An old theory based film that wraps itself around the concept of the expected future, contains relevance to identity in majority of its scenes. Vincent, the leading character for this film as he is the only, in ‘Gattaca’ terms, faith-birth that is introduced. As stated in the film introduction, Vincent, unlike many others, knows “there is no gene for fate”. Knowing this, he never once doubts his capabilities of making it all the way no matter what it takes, to get what he wants. In the Gattaca world, blood carries no nationality which makes everyone equally created and modified. A child conceived of love was one not risked as chances of perfection and survival were slim. In both of these films, identity is shown as a main idea and becomes the source of courage to change the path of oneself. Josie accepted who she is and her origin as well as ethnic background after she met Jacob. While Vincent accepted what his genes where made of after meeting Irene and never gave up on proving everyone false. Changed the idea of telling everyone what they can and cannot do as well as limit their capabilities, was the main concept of both these productions.

One of the most accurate sources, as tradition for centuries, are books that can also be a relevant relation to this particular topic. One short story book in particular which carries the same reference, is ‘Growing up Asian in Australia’. Within this book, there are a series of multiple short stories that all revolve around the same core, ‘identity and belonging’. Some stories, such as ‘Sticks and Stones and Such-like’ tend to amplify another cultures struggles and their expectations compared to the world around them.
