I finally made it to Independence. As I walked to the front entrance I noticed a lot of wagon near the entrance. As I soon as I got the entrance, they made me pay a small toll. I took my wagon inside and gander at the town. The only thing I could see was the people and their wagon crowding in the streets. I look all around the whole town, but can only see wagons close to me. Then I noticed a small general store close to the bar. I got up close and the sign read Jorgensen's General Store. I checked my supplies and noticed I was running low. I walk into the General store. When I walked in, there was Lady working at the counter. I greeted her with kind respect and I ask her if I can by some supplies. She greeted me with kind respect and she told me I can look around the store. I gander at all of then item she had in her store. After a couple of minutes, I selected a few item to take. I grabbed a hunting knife since the one I have been using has been getting dull. I got some bacon and vegetables since I was running low. Also I grabbed some sugar and salt to help with some of the food. I go a first aid kit since I lost mine when I was camping out. I pay the lady with the money I had left and I left the General store. …show more content…
Then I walk to my wagon to load up the wagon with new supplies. I noticed my oxen were tired and I needed another since I lost one during the trip to Independence. Took my oxen to a place that I can exchange my oxen. I trade both my oxen that I left remaining and got healthier ones. Then I bought 2 oxen and they were a lot of money so I'm hoping they don't die on the journey to Oregon. As I was trading my oxen, I noticed a person next to me that look familiar. I immediately said Curtis and he turn to look at
We are off on the oregon trail, the Swansons kept their promise and asked the clines if we could join, after some negotiation and the conformation of me being a blacksmith, they said we could tag along, once we had left I thought all of our problems were over but I was wrong after a while we had reached a hill, and our oxen couldn't pull all of our supplies, we had to get rid of the piano my wife, that was enough for the oxen to slowly pull the wagon up and over the hill. We have reached the kansas river it had taken us two days to reach from independence, we had arrived just as the raft had left to take the last of a wagon train to the other side, once he returned he had told us it would be one dollar to cross after awhile we had
Joseph Campbell has a theory called The Hero’s Journey in where an individual is shown in a mundane world, called to an adventure, and goes on the adventure. In the adventure, the individual goes on the path of trials that consisting of making new friends, new mentors, new enemies, facing new challenges, gaining new skills, and new knowledge. When the individual comes back to their mundane world, they are the master of two worlds through their new experiences they've gained in the adventure. The Hero’s Journey has been repeated in literature and films through many years: two examples that have The Hero’s Journey are the films, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
I finally arrived in Vicksburg, trying to escape all the pain I had suffered from the farm in Mississippi. All the whippings from Master Ethan had deprived me of my strength, and he murdered my best friend, James when we tried to escape together. He was my only closest friend, and now at the age of forty, he is dead because of us trying to accomplish our freedom. It took me about four miles to get to Vicksburg, but I was completely exhausted at that point. I had to compel myself to keep going and find some kind of harbor to rest in because it seemed like I ended up in a very dangerous place of Vicksburg. It wasn’t really safe to be in Vicksburg, but I had no choice. After awhile, I finally found an abandoned house to settle in and eventually
Joseph Campbell is a leading mythology expert and philosopher who studied all myths from around the world and found the “Hero’s Journey,” a pattern or algorithm that appears in common in myth, religious ritual, and storytelling. The Hero’s Journey has three elements, separation, initiation and return. If I think about myself, coming to Hawaii by myself was a separation from my comfortable zone where I was surrounded by my supportive family. First time when I came here, I could not say anything and became quiet because I thought people would think I was a stupid and not understand me. I was afraid of how people think about my language skills. However, I tried to speak from myself, asked people to collect my mistakes, accepted what I cannot do
To play a role given to us, isn’t fun once we learn of it, however, breaking away pushes us further into the journey. The Hero's Journey, a repetitive process that seems to be in the basic natural structure of every human, and despite any efforts are often replicating it ourselves. Following the journey is simple and sometimes unavoidable. The whole journey is mapped out by Christopher Vogler's The Writer's Journey. Then seen in Dracula, Bedazzled, and Noah. Also, in a easier way Howl's Moving Castle and The Game.
My eyes shoot open as I am thankfully ripped from that nightmare. Wow, after about two years I still manage to still have nightmares. It’s been two years since we were thankfully able to leave the isle of the lost, and come to the United States of Auradon. It’s been two years that I have attended Auradon prep and sadly my last year because, I am graduating. We all started our sophomore year and thankfully when school just started, if we hadn’t we would probably wouldn’t be graduating with our friends and my boyfriend. It’s been two years since Ben and I started dating and ever since then I have never been happier. Things have been amazing and being with him is the best thing ever. However, I guess I can’t really say that everything has been
We had to cross the Kansas river. We now realize how long it's going to take to get to Oregon because we have been walking forever and my legs are already sore, so I ask my son, Carl if he can lead the oxen while me and Bernard scout ahead on the horses. We also passed Alcove Springs. My son and I see Fort Kearny so we ride back to my wife and older son. We see how far back they are and realize it will probably take about two hours before we reach Fort Kearny. We finally arrive at Fort Kearny and its dark right now we see lots of people sleeping under their wagons. We were told that the fort was to prevent Indian attacks along the Oregon trail. They had very little room left for more wagons, but there has been just enough room for
It was late one day in June, and the sky was as blue and clear as sparkling wine. I sat back in my hammock reading the book Unbroken enjoying myself, and my uncle came up and asked me if I wanted to play poker with him, 5$ buy in. I jumped at the idea finished my page and went inside the house. Poker is a pretty big thing in my family and I’ve grown up playing and my uncle was one of the best, so spending time with him playing poker is always one of my favorite things to do. We proceed to set up the table, “Texas Holdem“ he says, Jacks to open”. Nothing weird, so we get the game going and the pots getting pretty big when all of the sudden he drops his cards. I stare the cards dead in the eye and see that i'm going to surpass him! He looks
I woke up to the Loud shots of gun fire not knowing where I was or how I got here. I quickly (scrambled) to my feet with hundreds of thoughts racing through my mind. When I stepped outside I quickly realized that I was in a nightmare that I could not get out of. I overheard the officers say we were in soldau, i grew up in the area with my mom, dad, grandpa and three older brothers. I walked around looking for someone I knew, anyone. The only way I could come out of this camp alive is to have and ally to ration food and water with. I quickly and (swiftly) scanned the faces of the (miserable) prisoners for someone i knew. One person looked particularly familiar but i could not put my finger on who it was, so i walked up to him and said ‘’hello’’ and before i could say anything more the man hugged me so tight i could barely breath. Still not knowing who this man was i hugged him back as if i had never felt
oals, I thought to myself as I sprinted down the field, ball in my net. The scorching sun beat down on my back, as if trying to slow me down as I passed defender after defender, trying to score that next goal.
Throughout the conversation, Susan did not inform me that the home was still in First Look and not open to investors at this time. Susan did not highlight any features of the home, nor did she talk about the neighborhood or the surrounding area. When asked, Susan paused to reference the property file and stated, "In looking at the pictures it appears that it needs interior paint, carpet, appliances, and a few windows, which the previous seller must have taken." She stated, "I don't know why they have to remove things from the homes." I asked, "Do you have offers?" She paused to check the property file and answered, "No offers." I asked, "Is the property behind the home farmland?" She paused to reference the property file and replied, "It appears
We leave Fort Kearny and we are going to follow another giver called the Platte River for 170 miles which is a long way Lauren has been dying from her blisters on her feet but my wife hasn't been as bad, so Lauren has been taking seats and basically shifts with my wife. Jimmy and I don't have to worry about that because we don't have tight boots. On the way to the California. Rossing we have seen many different things such as pieces of wagons, dead animals from the storm and even worst but we have tried to block those thing out of our head and get through this
The night was another quiet one , the morning even more quiet . No more family sit downs at the table , just coffee brewed from whoever wakes up first and help yourself to breakfast. I sat outside the porch with my coffee , first day of October with the fall feeling in the air , I was looking at nothing , I pulled out my cell phone and decided it was time to tell Trever my input on who is doing this. I heard his phone ringing , but it went straight to voice mail , I left a long message explaining everything , hoping this will get him to look into her.
I noticed it was getting harder to finish assembling my gun; I was losing the outside light. The sun was already setting, even though it was just after three. I remembered when I had gone to Middle School, during winter, of having to walk through Arkham's icy atmosphere instead relaxing in the warm luxury of riding in the car, which we'd sold to defray, in part, another of the old man's expeditions, this time to Nepal in search of the legendary Plateau of Leng. Such dangerous destinations meant nothing to me at the tender age of thirteen, of course, except in that I could no longer bask in the warmth of the Nexus's heater. The Eastern horizon would be barely beginning to lighten by the time I reached the gate. I got home just after
