Final Project – Milestone Two Jamie Davis Southern New Hampshire University Final Project – Milestone Two Escape Veloci-Tina is a single player game that follows the intrepid space explorer Tina as she attempts to locate new worlds to house the people from her home planet, which is teetering on the brink of turmoil. The game’s title is a play on the term “escape velocity” – a physics term describing the kinetic speed at which an object must be travelling to escape a celestial body’s gravitational pull – and the hero’s name, Tina. The game’s story centers on Tina’s plight to save her people from the threat of a looming extinction event brought on by her planet’s lack of resources. This crisis compels her to venture into space searching for new potential planets to which they might migrate and colonize for their survival. …show more content…
These planets are procedurally generated via lengthy randomized seeds that determine factors such as their atmosphere, local environments, and the presence of hostile or friendly terrestrial life. Due to the varying challenges of some of these planets, some may not be fully explored until the player character has better equipment, and so the player may come back to explore them later. One of the unique features of the game is Tina’s power to acquire certain abilities from other creatures to use later as skills. Due to the randomized element involved in determining the lifeforms on planets, it will take extensive exploration to slowly accumulate the abilities she needs to accomplish some goals, which increase the length of
One of the darker actions examined in this unit takes place in "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell. In this short story, General Zaroff begins hunting a man lost on his island named Rainsford. Bored of the usual game, General Zaroff decides he wants something more exciting and chooses to prey on humans. This ill-judged decision has a domino effect on the plot, ultimately ending in the demise of Zaroff. Nonetheless, an alternate ending besides death could have very well been a possibility. Perhaps, instead of hunting humans, Zaroff decides to open a hunting camp to share his passion for the sport with others. Obviously, his boredom is caused by the island's isolation from society. So, Zaroff could have built homes and started a community or decide to leave the island altogether. Then, the course of this story would have taken a completely different path. Maybe, Zaroff finds a wife, they have children and live happily ever after. If only he was able to overcome his dark side instead of letting it consume him.
Hook: Many say they are survivors, but in these situations surviving is more difficult than ever. Background: When in a survival situation having certain traits could help one, like in “My Escape from North Korea” by Hyeonseo Lee,” Trapped” by Aron Ralston, and “the most dangerous game” by Richard Connell. Thesis: The traits one needs to survive include a strong will, persistence ,prior knowledge ,quick thinking ,and superior survival skills.
If you decide to go for another new game run, you’ll notice that the game world is randomly generated. Be careful when going near planets, the gravity can pull you. Unfortunately you can’t explore planets but the game is still really fun with the many different situations what kind of situations? Elaborate you may come into. You never know when a group of space pirates will appear or if an alien will come across trying to negotiate for some illegal jobs.
In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell and the poem “Porphyria’s Lover” by Robert Browning, the authors use characterization and imagery to convey that the desire for power can drive man to psychotic actions.
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Sanger Rainsford outsmarted General Zaroff during the crazy man-hunt. Rainsford managed to outsmart Zaroff when he hid in the tree from him. Then when he set a trap on Zaroff, and lastly when he swam around the island so he could go hide from Zaroff in the Chateau. These three things will explain how Sanger Rainsford was successful.
At the end of “The Most Dangerous game” by Richard Connell Rainsford finally gets the upper hand of General Zaroff by appearing in his room, but then it leaves off at a cliffhanger and the story ends. I believe that when Rainsford surprises General Zaroff he does not kill him. I say this because once Rainsford hears about what general Zaroff is doing makes him disgusted. When Rainsford is being hunted by Zaroff he sets two traps that could definitely kill Zaroff but Rainsford sure knows that Zaroff is a smart man that wouldn’t let those traps get him. So I believe that they were both just there to try and scare rainsford.
Resourcefulness is being able to overcome difficulties quickly and in a clever way. Resourcefulness can also be using one’s surroundings for his/her benefit with prior knowledge and experience. In Richard Connell’s short story “The Most Dangerous Game” the main character Rainsford shows these skills of resourcefulness as he tries to survive the hunt. Rainsford is an experienced big game hunter that is trapped on a tropical jungle covered island with another big game hunter, General Zaroff. Zaroff has gained so much experience in hunting, due to this he has lost interest in hunting animals and now enjoys the hunt of humans. Rainsford is put in the position to be torched or participate in a game of hunting. When Rainsford is challenged to this game of hunting he is forced to try and survive. Rainsford is able to survive the hunt because he uses his resources and prior knowledge to weaken Zaroff helping him win the hunt.
Chapter twelve best conveys the overarching theme of loss of identity on the island, and Golding uses the characters Bill, an unnamed savage, and Percival to demonstrate this. Bill is first introduced as a choir boy, acquainted with Jack, Maurice and Roger. The boys collectively decide at the first meeting that Ralph is to be the chief. However, as priorities change, the majority of the group begins to side with Jack, believing that hunting should be the biggest concern. As they turn to inhumane savages, Jack’s group begins wearing paint, and they start to resemble a tribe. This tribe targets Ralph, and labels him as an outsider, as they did Piggy. Ralph knows they intend to kill him, and he seeks shelter in a covert, when he suddenly sees
In “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, the characters encounter many life-changing problems. This fictional, but suspenseful, piece contained a variation of conflicts for each character. Whether it was a character vs. character, nature, or himself each one shows the person’s true colors, and shapes them to be who they are. From the start Rainsford believed hunting was completely justifiable. However, once he had that experience with Zaroff his opinions changed. Rainsford encounters many conflicts and because of that, many aspects of his feelings and thoughts toward a variety of subjects is revealed.
Underestimation and cruel actions lead to many things. In “The Most Dangerous Game,” author Richard Connell reveals a conflict between main characters, General Zaroff and Rainsford. Rainsford was to play the most dangerous game, created by Zaroff, because the only way to survive, is to win it, otherwise death is the only other option. As demonstrated through the use of personification, symbolism, and repetition in the story, it conveys that one should understand to never underestimate another person and remember that there will always be a consequence for the wicked things that one has done.
The question that is usually asked is a one human life more valuable than another. To me the answer is no, you can’t really say that one is by the money they make, who they know, or how old they might be. In the short story The Most Dangerous Game General Zaroff said he hunted the “scum’ of the earth. He also said they need to live because what are they going to do for the community.
Day of the Dead, Halloween, they’re all the same right? Wrong. Although these two holidays are both in the autumn season, they differentiate in many ways. Day of the Dead is a celebration for the homecoming of ancestors who have died. In which Halloween is a holiday where people dress up in costumes and collect candy from complete strangers. Pretty different, trust me I know but to prove it to you even more, I have 3 reasons why Day of the Dead or Dia Le Los Muertos and Halloween differentiate; such as, the way they emphasize spirits, colors they use, and the food they eat.
The depiction of the physcical seperation of Luke and Anna from the city to the country depics their establishment of their new relationship with their new home. When Anna and Luke decides to move away from the city, Luke describes the city as “immense mortgages from which they saw no escape”. This quote is used in a negative connotation as the words “no escape” gives a negative vibe by referring the city to a prison or an undesired place where they feel stuck. Both Anna and Luke’s perspective of the city is “There are too much urban jazz in the air, the drone of jets roaring…, the manic whine of sirens…” shaping a negative atmosphere and creating an negative vibe referring the city is an undisered place where they feel stuck. Their movement
The terrestrial planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These four planets are the planets that are closest to the sun. Terrestrial means earthlike; therefore, these planets are all earthlike because they have a solid ground. The terrestrial planets are the middle school years. The knowledge learned here orbits the sun. If the knowledge learned at the sun is not retained, a student may have a
Abstract- Wireless sensor networks have been used in agricultural scenario because of the need for enhancing precision, quality and quantity in farming. This paper is about developing a prototype for the system which utilized a real time wireless sensor network to communicate wirelessly with a pest management system that measures the parameters air temperature and air humidity in an Apple farm for the prediction of disease, Apple Scab in Apple. For this purpose an application software has been developed to derive a relation among these parameters and Disease Severity Index to find out the need of pesticide spray for disease control of these crops. The information is linked to server to alert farmers regarding the environmental changes
