Gail Simmons is a trained culinary expert, food writer, and dynamic television personality. Gail was born in Toronto, Canada on May 19, 1976 into a family of 5 with rich culinary traditions. Her mother, Renee, was a food columnist for the Globe and Mail and conducted many cooking classes within the home. Gail attended McGill University in Montreal where she majored in anthropology and Spanish, until moving to New York City to follow her dream and attend a culinary school that is now known as the Institute of Culinary Education. She trained in the kitchens of renowned Le Cirque 2000 until she got her start and began working for famous chefs and food critics such as Jeffrey Steingarten at Vogue. Gail Simmons previously owned her own television show, hosting a spinoff of Top Chef, known as Top Chef: Just Desserts, until continuing her career on Top Chef as the new head critic on Top Chef Duel. Gail does not own her own restaurant but gained years of experience working at famous restaurants with legendary chefs. She has been featured in several successful cookbooks, including It Must’ve Been Something I Ate by Steingarten, and Cooking in New York by Chef Daniel Boulud. In February 2012, Gail published a book of her own called Talking With My Mouth Full. Gail still makes appearances on many television shows today, sharing her unique and delicious recipes on TODAY on NBC and ABC’s Good Morning America. She has also made many appearances at food festivals such as New York Wine & Food Festival, and South Beach Wine & Food Festival. A year after her book was released, in February 2013, Gail was appointed Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Babson College, where she mentors student entrepreneurs and helps them develop their own enterprises thogugh market strategies and
